Boot splash - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hey everyone just wondering about changing the bootsplash on the vivid. I'm familiar with many methods of changing it on the inspire and was wondering if its much different on the vivid since I'm not seeing any info out there on it. I usually convert my resized file and flash with fastboot adb just wondering if the process is the same thanks a lot

Like the HTC splash screen or the animation? If its the animation then just put a bootanimation in customise/resource and name it ATT_bootanimation.zip
If its the HTC splash...idk, I think that's built into the kernel? Could be wrong...

The splash not the animation on the inspire and EVO 3d you had to convert your resized image to a special img format then flash with adb or through bootloader inside a pd zip file if you weren't s-off

It appears to have worked using the nbimg tool and method found in the inspire forum only change was changing the size of the image and the size in the command line to 540x960 instead of 480x800. I'll post full instructions later when I get time for anyone interested in changing that ugly white HTC splash.

Quick question

Hey guys.. Been trolling around for years starting with a HTC touch. I recently got the raider and been watching the development going on recently since the unlock happened .
I was researching and realized how similar the evo 3d it's to our vivid.. How bad an idea would it be to try and port a ROM over to our little device ? atm i am not worried about not having lte available.
What's the thought on this idea?

Visit htcdev.com and follow the steps to unlock the bootloader . HTC has a simple guide which explains step by step process.
Than the simplest way is search for "xda vivid HTC super tool", in google and hopefully one of the links 1/2nd will take you to the right thread in this fourm .
HTC supper tool is easiest way to root your phone . I hope it helps.

Use the Superguide for Rooting
I just rooted my Vivid using the Superguide by Slapshot30. If you follow the guide, you should have no issues rooting.

Great idea, I think I will work on doing that!
Ok so a dev made a tool to unlock bootloader, get cwm recovery and basically everything you need. Only thing missing is a simple step on actually perm rooting. So go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003 and follow those instructions. Read read read. When you finish unlocking bootloader (probably longest part of the process) you're going to get the cwm recovery which is really easy. Back up your stuff (just read the instructions) then go to the Superguide thread in the dev forum and download the vivid root zip at the bottom of the first post. Stick that bad boy into your ext. Sd card and boot your phone into recover (that tool has a button to do that but if you wanna learn.yourself, just power down, pull battery and inser again, hold power and volume down button until the hboot screen comes up, go to fastboot then recovery). I assume you backed your files and now.you will flash the root by installing zip from ext Sd card and flash the vivid root zip. You are now rooted! Reboot and check your apps for superuser. Yay!

I must say this phone with its locked bootloader is more complex than other phones I've owned! Stick with the supergiude and you'll be fine.

I need two things for ics for the vivid

I need the known kernels for this device and a way to flash kernels/boot imgs via recovery (in the same sense that we use flash image GUI but to use in recovery when you can't access a CPU )and we might have this today
I'm mobile and I'm having a hard time getting this done

you cant thats why you need S-OFF without the only way is with fastboot commands.
I have a quick tool that can flash them for you but it does not use the GUI your talking about
S-OFF allows access to ALL parts of the device memory.
Can you attempt to achieve s-off, it seems to be your main concern
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA App
And if you're thinking you can use the developer ICS that was put out there, no amount of kernels we have for the Vivid are going to make it boot.

I have also tried. I couldn't even get it to flash. I think the biggest problems is that we don't have a 4.2.2 base for the first yet. If we did it would be so much easier. I am still tinkering but I have a wife and three kids keeping me busy so I'm not getting very far very fast.
If you don't get an error flashing then you are further than I have been able to get. I would love to get this working but not sure how much help I can be.

Only a suggestion, but have you tried porting from the " HTC Evo 4G LTE " like devs did for the " HTC One XL " they manage to get a booting Sense 5 4.1.2, which is a stronger chance for this phone booting since there are no kernel devs that will patch up your kernel for 4.2.2.
