please help trying to update firmware via kies and now tab stuck at download screen!

i installed kies and connected my tab for the first time.. and a update pop up showed up and i thought oh ok i should upgrade then.. it took a long time to download the files it gave an error once then gave me the option to download the firmware again.. so i clicked on try again.. now the download was complete but my tab is stuck on the download screen for hours and it says do not turn off target.. :S im so stuck here .. kies does not detect my galaxy tab.. i haven't restarted any thing not my pc nor the tab for 5 hours now .. it was plugged in ever since.. what do i do now ?? please help me out please i beg of you!!

Calm down dude. Is there a blue progress bar in the download mode? If NOT then its perfectly safe to press the power button and turn off the tab. The Do Not turn off target warning mesage relates to the fact of actual flashing when the tab is in the flashing sequence manifested by a blue progress bar. If there is a blue progress bar and its stuck try to close kies and fire it up again see if its detected or not.

okay i just uplugged my device and restarted and it seems like the firmware didn't get installed for some reason... its working now.. thank god :S :S

This just happened to me and glad it all worked out for you. Mine wasn't so easy so I'm replying in the hopes I can help other noobs going through the same problem.
While updating my P6200 using Kies, the Tab got stuck while downloading ICS and it wouldn't reboot or do anything beyond the error message screen. After stressing about this all night, I finally had success this morning. Long story, short key points:
- Run Kies as Administrator (Shift&Control while clicking, or right click and select Run as Administrator; WIN8: right click Kies app and select Run as Administrator down below)
- Select Emergency Firmware Recovery from Tools in Kies.
- When Kies is done downloading firmware, check the box ensure the Tab is fully in download mode(Power off, Power and Vol down button, Vol up button to proceed), and only now reconnect to your computer. (Doesn't matter that computer hasn't recognized it up to this point).
- Click to start emergency recovery.
- Go back to step 1 if it fails to fully download the firmware. It took me twice.

Phone not booting after failed firmware upgrade-urgent

I just got sometime today to upgrade my old samsung galaxy s i9000(India), it was on gingerbread and just cheked with Kies which showed me an available upgrade, so I just factory reset my phone, and proceeded with upgrade, somewhere down the process, it said kies did not recognise my phone and asked me to disconnect and remove battery and boot again, i tried that and since then I'm stuck with a phone+!+comp icon on the screen, please help its urgent, I have to travel out tomorrow morning, i cant afford to go to samsung on this.

Make sure that pit file is used

you can reconnect it to kies, as it is still on download mode to do recovery like this

are you able to get into download mod or totally not boot up at all

The only solution si to flash a new firmware using odin

I am in same situation. did it get resolved?
I have GT I90003 which is now not booting and remaining on 'Phone-I-PC' image.
I was using Odin to root but in between cable got disconnected. and now I am nowhere.

n dont use i9000 rom for i9003 rom, it will hardbrick ur device, u can search for i9003 post discussiom using searchbox in xda

You have to try again to get it into download mode.
Use Odin for your device model and run it as administrator. If Kies is installed, kill all Kies processes by using Task Manager. Prepare the files under PDA etc. Pull out the battery and hold power button pressed for 1min. Then keep all buttons combo for download mode and insert the battery while pressed (needs some acrobacy skills). If the download mode starts, you can connect your phone and flash firmware again.

[Q] Urgent help.. Kies upgrade stuck on stock Note

So I just updated the kies windows app and it notified me about the firmware upgrade for my note. After starting the process it properly downloaded the update to the pc and like the normal process, it automatically restarted the phone and started downloading data onto the phone with the 'Downloading..' screen on the phone. The problem is it is stuck at 13% fr the last 1 hour. What to do now?

Yeah it is still stuck It is the latest upgrade. As of last week the Note was up to date. I am from India so it is the latest version DDLRB.

Download it from samfirmware. Com and install it via pc odin. better for now.

Did just that, it gave me a recovery code and I followed the steps for emergency recovery. The recovery started properly but now the recovery itself is stuck at 6% for the last 15 mins ;( I am the unluckiest guy in the world. What to do now?
the process has been running in the background the whole time and I did not interfere in any way, didnt remove the usb or put anything else.

Download it from samfirmware. Com and install it via pc odin. better for now.

Ics ota updates or through Kies are notorious for failing half way. Stock with pc Odin as nokiamodeln91 says.

thanks guys for all the replies but I just solved the problem by basically connecting the phone to another pc.
I installed kies on another pc, and connected the device. On this kies emergency firmware recovery dialog box I entered the recovery code that the earlier pc had shown. The second kies then downloaded a recovery firmware and was successfully able to fully restore the device without any loss of config or data.

[Q] S4A bricked by Kies

Hi folks,
this evening i connected my S4A to my Mac and Kies told me there was an update and i decided to let Kies do what Kies can do (what seemed to be a _big_ failure). Kies messed up while uploading the new firmware to the device after just a couple of percent. After a reboot I now see a screen telling me: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I tried an 'recovery mode' with the recovery-code Kies provided. But this gets also stuck at just a few percent.
My next try was to use Odin with the approriate firmware i managed to download after somer hours (man - some servers are really slow theses days) but then i got the message about a missing PIT. =/
Does anyone have an idea of how i should continue from here on?

Can you get into download mode at all? And why Kies? Is that all you have is Mac? I would say if you can get into download at all and have access to a windows device to Odin back to stock MF1. Sorry about your luck though

I can get into download mode and I already tried with Odin in a VirtualBoxed Win7 with the current FW .. (Odin in a VirtualBoxed Win7 to me usually works fine) .. but Odin wanted a PIT.
Why Kies? In my naivity I didn't even in my dreams thought Kies could mess up this bad =/.
Now my dumb question: where can I get a (3-part) stock MF1? Aunt Google was not helpfull.
EDIT: It finally worked - I just had to use the original USB-Cable ..

Exactly the same happened to me. I managed to return to previous state by flashing stock ROM i9295XXUBMK3.

However my issues with no sound and random reboots remain. How annoying it is to reboot phone once or twice everytime you want to make a phone call. And byebye receiving phonecalls.. If anyone knows solution to this, I'd be glad to try it.

i was trying to update to tizen my galaxy gear 1 using kies 3 but the update got stuck on 2% and than i disconnected my galaxy gear from my pc . I pressed the power button for a while and then it showed up in download mode so i tried to update it to tizen but this time with odin and that too failed and now my galaxy gear is just showing dots and lines of random colors. and now nor kies 3 ,2 or odin are detecting it.. Please help help needed

Hmm, does it charge? It may have been bricked. If there is no chance of returning it or warranty then I'm not sure what to do. Since it seems it's been this way for a few days, you may have to be creative. I've had mine fail a few times via Odin and after a few times holding the power I would get back to the kies screen on the Gear which I would try to fix in the recovery part of kies and that would not work since I wasn't installing the update via Kies. But moral of the story was after trying to see the gear in kies and failing, I again tried with Odin 3.09 and it would see the device again. Where I loaded the Odin version which failed, then rebooted gear and tried 2nd time and closed my eyes.. and it loaded. I would make sure nothing is running in the background ( 1st fail I noticed windows detecting device halfway through Odin flash and that caused my issue).
Also if you have another device like a samsung phone, you may see that device in Odin (only suggest this as a way to test if Odin and windows drivers for samsung device are loaded). But hopefully with some reload of the drivers on you computer (on that....try another computer if possible) you will have some success.
If you try all that and it's a no go and still crazy colors and lines.....only thing I can think of is to let battery die and then connect charger and see if it charge's or goes to charge screen. Let me know if you can get to anything else...

Ditto - rushed into the update before reading up properly and ending flashing with latest Tizen when I should have used the older version with boothloader. Thought I'd recovered the situation when I managed to flash with Android 4.2.2, Odin showed as completed but the Galaxy Gear continued to be stuck on the downloading screen albeit with a download bar showing however it did not reset. Switched it off after a while and then that's when the corrupt screen started and failure to be recognised by the pc
Any help would be appreciated before it hits the bin.............

Did the same, reflashed STOCK 4.4.2 (has to original it came with) and restored android. Then updated to NE9 rom then to NF1... Unfortunately the NF1 rom needs some base files installed in NE9. Can't just jump to lastest...
Then rooted it...

Previously im also got the same problem as u when im trying to upgrade my GG1 but after a long search i found this link . What u need is just follow the instructions as given and the important things is dont try to skip anything !

update: no joy - pc or odin fail to detect the Galaxy Gear when connected via USB

Try this.. maybe it can help
1 - close odin
2 - connect your samsung phone first with the pc via usb cable
* ( pc will detect your phone and auto install usb driver for it )
3 - disconnect your phone
4 - open odin
5 - connect your GG with odin via usb cable that you use to connect your phone to pc
6 - Repeat back the instruction as given
This happen to me before.. but its works for me
