please help trying to update firmware via kies and now tab stuck at download screen!

i installed kies and connected my tab for the first time.. and a update pop up showed up and i thought oh ok i should upgrade then.. it took a long time to download the files it gave an error once then gave me the option to download the firmware again.. so i clicked on try again.. now the download was complete but my tab is stuck on the download screen for hours and it says do not turn off target.. :S im so stuck here .. kies does not detect my galaxy tab.. i haven't restarted any thing not my pc nor the tab for 5 hours now .. it was plugged in ever since.. what do i do now ?? please help me out please i beg of you!!

Calm down dude. Is there a blue progress bar in the download mode? If NOT then its perfectly safe to press the power button and turn off the tab. The Do Not turn off target warning mesage relates to the fact of actual flashing when the tab is in the flashing sequence manifested by a blue progress bar. If there is a blue progress bar and its stuck try to close kies and fire it up again see if its detected or not.

okay i just uplugged my device and restarted and it seems like the firmware didn't get installed for some reason... its working now.. thank god :S :S

This just happened to me and glad it all worked out for you. Mine wasn't so easy so I'm replying in the hopes I can help other noobs going through the same problem.
While updating my P6200 using Kies, the Tab got stuck while downloading ICS and it wouldn't reboot or do anything beyond the error message screen. After stressing about this all night, I finally had success this morning. Long story, short key points:
- Run Kies as Administrator (Shift&Control while clicking, or right click and select Run as Administrator; WIN8: right click Kies app and select Run as Administrator down below)
- Select Emergency Firmware Recovery from Tools in Kies.
- When Kies is done downloading firmware, check the box ensure the Tab is fully in download mode(Power off, Power and Vol down button, Vol up button to proceed), and only now reconnect to your computer. (Doesn't matter that computer hasn't recognized it up to this point).
- Click to start emergency recovery.
- Go back to step 1 if it fails to fully download the firmware. It took me twice.

I just got sometime today to upgrade my old samsung galaxy s i9000(India), it was on gingerbread and just cheked with Kies which showed me an available upgrade, so I just factory reset my phone, and proceeded with upgrade, somewhere down the process, it said kies did not recognise my phone and asked me to disconnect and remove battery and boot again, i tried that and since then I'm stuck with a phone+!+comp icon on the screen, please help its urgent, I have to travel out tomorrow morning, i cant afford to go to samsung on this.

Make sure that pit file is used

you can reconnect it to kies, as it is still on download mode to do recovery like this

are you able to get into download mod or totally not boot up at all

The only solution si to flash a new firmware using odin

I am in same situation. did it get resolved?
I have GT I90003 which is now not booting and remaining on 'Phone-I-PC' image.
I was using Odin to root but in between cable got disconnected. and now I am nowhere.
Please help how to resolve this problem.

n dont use i9000 rom for i9003 rom, it will hardbrick ur device, u can search for i9003 post discussiom using searchbox in xda

You have to try again to get it into download mode.
Use Odin for your device model and run it as administrator. If Kies is installed, kill all Kies processes by using Task Manager. Prepare the files under PDA etc. Pull out the battery and hold power button pressed for 1min. Then keep all buttons combo for download mode and insert the battery while pressed (needs some acrobacy skills). If the download mode starts, you can connect your phone and flash firmware again.

Soft Bricked GSM Galaxy tab (phone---!---computer symbol(

my tab is rooted and is running 2.2.I decided to flash cwm via odin,i put it in download mode and flashed cwm but odin showed a 'fail'.i tried flashing it again,there was a power cut and the computer unfortunately stopped in the middle of flashing.the tab since then is showng a phone--!---computer symbol.i tried going back into download mode,but luck.odin was still detecting it,i tried to flash cwm again,but no luck.i let it discharge completely.
now the screen with the phone---!---computer wont come up until i plug it into the charger,as soon as i remove the cable,the screen vanishes.i tried to charge it for nearly 6 hours,but still that screen wont come up after i unplug the charger.when i press and hold the power button while the tab is connected to the charger,the screen with the symbol again comes up and vanishes after a few seconds,ive seen a one click unbrick solution for this,but for that to happen the tab should charge and the screen with the symbol should come up even when the tab is unplugged.please help!!

i guess your gonna download a firmware on 2.2.1 and flash it..........but i recommend 2.3.3 firmware..try it on mine the ......!....... but still odin detects it......2.2.1 is old try AOKP for are tab....best rom

First, which tab is yours.
Edit: from your pm you indicate P1000.
OK, I sounds luke a broken record now but here goes.
Have you had a look at overcome method.
You need to flash GB-stock-safe-v5.
Sometimes even when screen is blank, it can still be a download mode.
So, be sure that it is charged (using original wall charger).
Then ready Odin and the files in proper places and pre connect the tab to PC.
Then boot to download mode and quickly flash using Odin.

i thank everyone who replied to my post,i have found an easier way to unbrick it.i connected the tab to the computer and after 20 min it showed the screen with the mobile---!---computer symbol.i downloaded an application called one click unbrick,in the app i clicked unsoft brick and the tab imediately started to my surprise.it is now working properly,only the time and date of the device were reset.agai thank everyone for giving me these valuable info.=):highfive
one click unbrick tool in attachments (you need java installed for this to work)
i now have to flash cw and install that jellybean rom right away.

What about a Tab P1000N? What can be done with that one?

One Click Unbrick (by Adam Outler) is not a P1000 specific software.
It should work for P1000N too.

I looked every where for 24 hours and then I ran across your post simply......now I and anyone else that has this problem knows to let the tablet charge on the computer our laptop for 20 mind and then the bricked download screen will appear and your good to go you post was very helpful maybe the only real method out there thanks a million:angel::good:

sm-v700 is stuck in screen of death

i just bought me a used sm-v700 and its stuck in screen of death,
i have tried connecting it to both Kies and Kies 3, fully updated ofc, restarted my pc after installations,
none of the above programs can connect to my watch :/
tried calling samsung support to no use (send it in)
what do i do next?
my objective with the watch is to get it working ofc, and get it rooted to work with my sony xperia z2

Hi mate, this has happened to me as well, i was sure i had ruined my watch. What fixed it in my case was to drain the battery. Because once i was in the screen of death the watch doesn't seem to ever turn off. When i turned the watch back on i used heimdall to restore the firmware. Odin failed miserably.

the battery on my watch has drained by now, tho i have had it both connected to my pc and to my usb wall charger it looks like it wont charge, it only starts up to the screen of death when its connected and goes all black when i remove the usb cable :/

the watch only turns on for a few sec's and then dies, turns on automatically and then dies,, over and over :/

since that it just whent black, googled a bit and found a thread about this on this site which had this youtube link on it v=5WzGC0786U0
removed the battery from the motherboard and at least it charges normally, i think,,
it charges at least now, and i can access "download" and "recovery" mode but neither Heimdall or Odin can find it :/

anyone got any ideas? got the **** to find the download mode again, but pc cant find it

for me my pc found the watch when it was in the SOD screen after i got the d..n thing restarted.
but when i tried to use odin it froze for forever so i had to repeat the drain/restart cycle and then heimdall played nicely with it.
other than that i really got no idea other than what you have allready brought up. i guess you just have to try and try and try.
removing the battery is probably a better way to restart instead of draining it.
i might add that i used heimdall on ubuntu(for me heimdall has always seemed better in linux for some reason)
and if it is a driver issue the driver you need should come with the distro. so you could try to power up a livedisk and try.
or you could try to get it recoqnized in a different usb port if you haven't tried that.
Cant hurt, right.

well today or more like just now i tried and tried and tried to get the tizen uppdate flashed into it with odin and i finally got the damn thing to accept the file,
only problem i got now is that it wont connect to my sony xperia z2

and now the touch wont work :/

Flash TizenMOD 3.0 with Odin ?

Recover back GG from sceen of death
I used this method and its working to recover back my GG error issue
I hope this will help u ..
1 - Download and install odin 3.0.9
2 - Download GG stock rom with the last file name *******NE9 ( If the file is zip file , u must extract it first to get the file *******NE9.tar - something like that )
3 - Connect your phone ( must be samsung phone ) . Odin will detect and auto install driver for usb detection. After that disconnect it
4 - Connect your GG to usb ( It will auto detect your GG )
5 - uncheck AUTO REBOOT & REPARTITION
6 - Click PDA button and set to the location you put the NE9 file
7 - Wait for a while and after odin finish checking that file click START BUTTON
8 - Wait until upgrading proses finish
- ( YOUR GG WILL SHOW BLUE COLOR PROGRESS BAR )
9 - Odin will show PASS ! in green color at the status bar if the process success
10 - Disconnect your gear & manually reboot ( press power button about 5 sec )
* sometimes you must reboot 2-3 times to make GG fully reconfigure back it system
* need to unpair/pair again the bluetooth between GG and the phone
* Usually after bluetooth paring success., gear manager will auto update and then u can
use your GG as usual.

kofxi, Your a star man. Just got my gear today and tried flashing updating to _V700OXAAMK7 and got screen of death nothing I tried worked.
Just grabbed the NE9 file and worked like a charm, I owe you several drinks.

Samsung s3 mini softbrick please help pulling my hair out with frustration

Hi all
I would be very great full if i could lend a hand regarding my Samsung s3 mini GT-I8190N UK OPEN TO ANY NETWORK .
The problem i have is i cant load the phone up all i get is the the "SAMSUNG GAKAXY SIII MINI GT-I8190N LOGO".
I however can get into download mode , recovery mode is not possible it just wont go into recovery mode.
i have done some reading over the last week and found that the phone maybe softbricked so i downloaded odin and downloaded a couple of new firmwares.
I followed the steps i found on an android forum and hooked my s3 upto my PC and clicked PDA , i selected the MD5 file (new filmwere ) and clicked start , yippieeee i had progress but very slow progress at that , the green progress bar on odin was filling up but very slow , after about half hour it was only about 30% full and then failed , i have tried over and over again but it wont work .
I am thinking i got the wrong filmwear for my phone but really unsure on whats going on and its really annoying me .
any help would be really helpfull .
on download mode i have -
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME GT-I8190N
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD -NO
CURRENT BINARY-SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS - OFFICIAL

Here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ just enter your model number i8190N and you'll get some stock roms choose one from your región/country for better, remember to click on PDA to use the file

I downloaded the correct FW but its still not working , i have watched a couple of youtube videos and it looks like it takes around 4-5 mins to do the whole process via odin but mine is very very slow , i get a green progress bar in odin but it takes forever to progress , it gets to about 30% after about 30 mins then says fail .
any ideas ?

check your pc drivers, you might install them again, and check if there are no KIES processes in the background if you have kies installed

Drivers are fine and KIES is closed , odin is reading my phone just fine its just the process of uploading the new FM is taking forever then fails at about 30% after about half hour ,.
so frustrating

Try with Odin v3.07 or try with an other PC/Laptop and run/open Odin as admin if you don't use Windows XP
