I just recently started having issues with my gallery and music player.
For the Gallery, I now only see one folder (whereas previously I used to see a bunch of folders) and that folder is full of the same 1 or 2 pictures repeated many times.
For the Music player, I can't see any of my songs anymore.
Not sure when it started, but the first time I noticed it was when I installed FunnyWarp from the market. I've have no idea if the problem is related to FunnyWarp at all... just speculation.
For both the Music Player and Gallery:
I've tried clearing the cache => doesn't work.
I've tried deleting all the files in /sdcard/android/data/com.cooliris.media/cache => doesn't work.
I've tried using sdrescan from the market => doesn't work.
Any ideas before I restore an older back-up (which I don't really feel like doing)...
Thanks.
I've had some success doing this before:
1 - place a period in front of all your media folder names ie: DCIM => .DCIM
2 - open gallery and delete all files, open media player and delete all files
3 - remove period from folder names, and reboot
You may want to back up your media first...

I'll give it a shot in a couple of hours when I get a chance to back up my photos, thanks. Sounds good for the gallery, but for the music player, I don't see any songs in it, so what am I supposed to delete?
Thats a good question - I thought there was an option to clear the database, but it looks like I may be wrong... Maybe see if a different media player will let you reset the db?

I have an HTC Raider from Rogers and I installed PowerAmp on it. After it completes the library scan, it shows every song twice. However, when I open up the stock music app, everything looks normal. All of my music is currently stored on the external SD card. I did try moving all of the music over to the internal SD and poweramp only showed the music files once. However, I don't want my music eating up all the space on my internal sd.
Anyone else encountered this problem and possibly have a solution?

Never had this problem... that's odd. Maybe you could contact the dev of that app. Many of them are really good about resolving issues with users.

I will try contacting them. Thanks!
PowerAMP's library management seems to be a bit rubbish. It wouldn't read about half of my Japanese ID3 tags, nor 1/4 of my Korean ones... It's a bit of a disaster.

I also have an HTC Raider from Rogers and have the exact same problem.
Did you ever hear back from the developers about this?
Have you tried making sure that ONLY your music folder is getting scanned (by manually selecting it in the settings), then going into the advanced settings and initiating a full wipe/rescan?
I'm on a Rogers Raider and have never had this problem, so it's a shot in the dark. Been using PowerAmp for over a year across three phones.

Yes, I made sure that only the music folder is scanning. But still having the same problem, Please someone help me. :crying:
Using Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2
I had this problem, uninstall it, clear your dalvik cache, reinstall it, select only your music folder, double check that you don't actually have duplicate files
Hi,
try this:
Open Settings in powerAmp > Folders and Library > Music Folders (scroll down & down to make sure you select only 1 Folder where your music is stored).
that fixes mine. Hope that fixes your problem.
Maybe have a closer look
I have the Nexus 4, too and just solved the problem.
The first thing I did when acqiring Poweramp was de-selecting everything but the "music" folder.
But then I noticed that there was not only a folder of that name in /storage/emulated/0, but also in /storage/emulated/legacy, which was still selected, causing the problem.
Deselected the second one and everything worked fine
duplicate songs
the dual listing of songs files etc is usually caused by the app scanning dual paths. Set your app to only scan one folder for your music.

Hello, I'm having issues with the video maker that came with the note.
Once I open the app and select the theme and as soon as all the videos starts to load up video maker crashes and goes back to create new project screen :/
I was wondering if anybody else is having this issue and knew how to fix the problem?

Are you using a Rooted Device? What Firmware are you on? Do you have CWM Recovery?
If so then try wiping cache and Dalvik cache from the CWM Recovery menu and see if that helps.
You can also go to settings> applications> manage applications> all> and find the app and then clear the app data, etc and see if that helps as well.
Thanks for the reply. I'm currently on everything stock. Since I just got this phone and new to android platform I haven't really messed with rooting etc.
I tried clearing data like you recommended but it didn't help still crashing at the "add media" screen. Idk why...
Update:
I guess video maker doesn't like importing videos/pictures from sdcard... After transferring videos and pictures to phone it's working fine now. Is this problem normal? Or just me? Having 2gbs of pictures and videos too much? :/
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Some of the files on your list may corrupted. Did you check with other set of files? If newer set of files didn't work.. try factory reset if still didn't work try hard reset, even if it's not working! Rooting is the best option. After that you can install a good working video editor from someone whose app is working good or you can even flash a new rom.

Yeah I copied the same pic/vids files from sdcard to the phone and video maker works perfect so files aren't corrupted, at least I don't think? App just refuses to use the media files from sdcard for some reason I tried factory reset no changes.
Must be something in sdcard cause unless unmounted the sdcard I cant get video maker to work.

That's it... You found the culprit.. Try with other sd card..

Ok after testing what was causing this problem, I finally narrowed it down to "music" folder.
I have about 1000 mp3 on sdcard and seems like loading that many songs in video maker is crashing the app.
Anyone who has 1000+ mp3s try to load up video maker see if it crashes on you?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
That was quite informative though couldn't try.
So it is a cache issue that can be solved by Samsung.
Yeah hope so... I wish I can choose which folder to scan and exclude like quickpic.

I have some 3000+ songs on my SD card and Video Maker crashes on me every time, no matter if I use a video on SD card or internal memory. I have moved the video around to see if that would help, but it continues cashing.
I'm not sure I understand what the solution is from the posts above.
a workaround..
Mine does this too, stock ICS. My SD card has lots of videos recorded by my htc desire, some files are corrupt. All other gallery apps simply ignore those files, video maker crashes.
Find the videos, music and pictures you want to use on the sd card, and copy them to internal sd card. Now go to settings->storage and select unmount sd card. Open video maker, and select media. On mine, it would still crash unless I killed by task manager, and re-opened. Then it worked, and export movie would fail. 2nd time it worked.
Mount SD card when finished.
Hi folks
How do you hide photos on the Z? I have tried moving the photos with file commander but this is still showing in the gallery and shortcut on my main screen? are they any apps or ways of deselecting folders on the gallery or album app?

Try hide it pro from the market
try create a folder starting with a dot, like: .photos.
and put the pictures there...
In the folder where you want to store and hide photos create a file called .nomedia then move the photos into the folder.
If you add the .nomedia file to an existing folder you may need to wipe Gallery data before it takes effect. Works on Sammy and HTC, haven't tried it myself on Sony.
OR, if rooted, get LUKS Manager from the market. Works like Windows Truecrypt.

Or you can download quickpic app to hid the folders for you..
it actually only create .nomedia file for you..
Install 'hide it pro' app downloading via Google play store, its free and after installation it will be renamed as audio manager, and tapping at 'audio manger' you will be able to install your password and you can view your hidden photos, videos. You can encrypt your data also.
And if you have root acess, you can hide your app downloading its plugin, located at advanced settings. Then you can launch your app calling @ ##yourpassword .

To hide your porn, clear data in media storage and album apps after renaming the .folder.

I tried Hide It Pro but prefer LUKS. Hide It just seems to change the name of your file and copy it to an obscure location, but you can still find it with a file explorer. I didn't try the encryption but it looked to me like it would only encrypt individual file(s)?
With LUKS, you create a password-protected encrypted volume (can take a while) and then you mount it. Once the volume is mounted it looks like a regular folder. You can create whatever folders you want and just cut/paste any filetype into it. Encryption is on the fly so you don't need to encrypt/decrypt files. In any file explorer, browse to a file in the volume, double-click and the file opens....pictures, music, videos, spreadsheets, text files etc, all open transparently out of the mounted volume. When you dismount the volume you cannot see inside it.
Tried changing a name of an existing folder to .saved and the folder disappear completely ?? any reason why this happened?
And tried creating a new one with .pvt ,sadly this not work, ast the folder created cant be seen?anyone experienced this problem before?
Just to clear the matter, lady friend sent me a bikini photo, not porn or any sort but since the album shows all on the Z, had a lot people want to check my phone out scanning through my photos etc which made me wonder if there is an app to ensure privacy.
Hide It Pro works well Thanks guys!! :good:
Hi,
Is there no my file app on the Z1? I can not find it.
Other questions - how do you make the Walkman app look for music in your sd card?

Mine came installed with file commander, but you can easily download 3rd party ones such as ES file explore from pay store.
As for the Walkman app, mine scanned my SD card fine, there doesn't appear to be a manual scan mode, so I'd suggest u un mount your sd card in store and re mount it see if that helps.

media scan
Or try rescan media from the play store free app (works for me)

Wait a bit, turn it off and on again and it will scan the content of your internal and external sd card automatically. But it may take some time.
As for file explorers, there are hundreds of them on the market

OK, someone already mentioned that file commander comes with the rom.
Just give the media scanner some time. It is a process that takes some time. Leave your phone with screen off for a bit and it should find it.
Also, make sure there is no .nomedia file where you have the media stored. I also keep mine in a folder called music on my external sd card.
Nothing seems to work with make the files show up in the play (Walkman) So I will try format the card and see if that helps. Btw I didn't have the file commander installed default.

Do you have a network locked handset, as mine is unlocked and unbranded so that could be why you don't have the app.
As for your music not being recognised by the Walkman app sounds pretty strange... before formatting the sd card you should try clearing the cache from the Walkman app, as to me it sounds like a software glitch.

hopefully you've sorted this now!
also if you just want your music files in the walkman app, just click on settings (top right) and then open settings and disable 'music unlimited' under service settings. Now the walkman app will only show your downloaded music and none of their streaming stuff
