[Resolved] Update from DINC2?

I am eligible for a discounted update, putting the Bionic at a price point of $150.
I am also poised for a "free every two" offer 7/12
Wait or not?
Sell the DINC2 and upgrade?
Or hold on and wait for the next "greatest" thing?
Ideas?

You have an upgrade,
I'd use it on the Razr, Razr MAXX or galaxy nexus. If its the money, the Razr is a better and newer phone for $200 and i believe its bogo right now (or will be if i remember reading right)

I figure I can sell the DINC2 for 100 to 150. I havnt had the chance to put hands on a RAZR yet.

I've owned a Dinc2 then a Bionic then a Galaxy Nexus. If this update fixes the data craptivity then the only reason to buy a Nexus is it's unlocked bootloader and ICS. If you don't care about such things then I would take the Bionic over the Dinc2. Want more detail PM me.

I think for the lower price the bionics is a great deal over the razr or nexus. Its nearly the same phone as the razr and the only reason for a nexus over a bionic is the unlocked bootloader. I say go for the bionic and save some money.

If you're able to get a Rezound, I would get that instead of a Bionic, or anything Motorola. Much better Rom Development community on HTC than Motorola. I'm not a fan of the 3 button setup that the Nexus has (I've had an Android for 3 years and got used to the 4 buttons too much to change)

Not having a bootloader makes things more difficult. I don't believe its the only reason for the amount of development though. The bionic suffers a lot from Verizon showing it up with the Razr and the nexus not too long after it was released. If the bionic wouldn't have been.delayed so long, I'm sure we would have seen more development than we have.

Lets see what Motorola brings us with ics. I've read rumors that it may come with the option to unlock the bootloader. While I don't necessarily believe that, with Google taking over and them announcing unlocked bootloaders for Europe, its not entirely unbelievable. If it comes to be true, development will really take off.
Motorola really should unlock the bootloader and allow this phone to live up to its name.

I dont like it as much as the dinc2 but digging the bigger screen and ready to put a decent rom on.

I would trade your Bionic for the Rezound. I had an Inc2 and loved it. Wish I went to Rezound instead of Bionic. If you are into installing roms, the Bionic is not for you. Development is dead here. Motorola killed this phone. Also there is a booby trap waiting for you around every corner with an encrypted bootloader phone if you want to mod it.
If you aren't going to mod/ rom it performs pretty well. I now get data drops every day just about (which I didn't before), but they are only for a couple minutes I guess. Restart connections app from the market helps.

I couldn't believe that, when that happened! A moderator here actually gave me demerits and dropped my post count back under the 10 post count and erased all of my posts, because I posted what they claimed was off-topic! Really?! I was off-topic talking about my Tablet on an Android web site, in the GENERAL forum?! HUH???
And then on top of that, lied and said they were tired of warning me, or some such statement that said that it wasn't my first warning? What???
I'm sorry, but my experience here has been an extremely bad one and most people have either been rude, or ignored my question while responding to my message, or told me I shouldn't have posted it and not with but a couple of exceptions, not too kindly either!

Lol and im basing off of the past facts. They never bent the name to match the letter before i dont think they will do it now. the infamous candy cane easter egg inside an easter egg eggcetption should be taken as that is the time period of release of either the new OS or Nexus Phone or at least thats what i take it as.

Yup Cm11 the only time it gets the .1 or .2 is when they hit a new stage of stablilty or checkpoint if you will. Like they did with the "stable" release of CM9.1

Of note is the possibility of multiple Nexus toys. Lord knows Goog needs to figure a way to get OS updates out faster, and this seems inevitable. Hopefully, Linux kernel 3.7 w/ multi-SoC support will be another big step.

Otherwise, Android K is reportedly another ho-hum release, mainly to beef up Goog Play stuff to better compete with the walled gardens of Apple and Amazon. Android L, where are you?

Google's marketing execs +1 Apple's again. This is brilliant! I thought Apple did a cool thing by changing their naming convention for OSX starting with Mavericks (a surf spot in NorCal). Kit-Kat is all over the place! Gas stations, convenience stores, shopping malls, movie theaters, etc.
My thoughts, no source...
It makes me think that 5.0 is being developed but not being released just yet so Apple doesn't blatantly copy Google yet again. 4.4 would be the hold over OS upgrade until then. Google will release 5.0 next summer leaving Apple no time to put any of those features in iOS 8 next year.

You know what's funny is how everyone is so happy with their phone when it comes out, posting how great this and that works. Then info if an update happens then all of a sudden we get over taken with this feeling that it just isn't good enough unless we get that update. The feelings of euphoric joy are replaced with discontent. And I'm guilty of this

Just remember guys not to update when ever is available since you will loose most certain the bootloader unlocked and who know if you guys will be able to restore it

Never said we were getting it. Just said await for possible update to nothing coming anymore. So the fact they went through the trouble of changing that to expect kit kat.. I'm 90‰ sure we're getting it. Just will depend on att.

Just FYI, if you check that upgrade site, the Atrix HD "developer edition" will not get the upgrade. I'm sure there are some people on here that have that phone.

Exactly. I wanted to write same thing. Great news but I remember that they promised ics update on 4g and then they changed their mind. I will be happy only when we will be able to download it.

So what will happen with everyone with unlocked bootloaders? Does someone just have to make the stock 4.4 firmware a flashable zip? I just read that trying to flash this with an unlocked bootloader can brick the device.

Us getting 4.4 is great news and all, just DON'T INSTALL IT. We'll likely lose our unlocked bootloader if we do. Best to wait until a rom is made from the update, or wait until the Dev Team implements the updated kernel and libs into our sources. I just hope that we'll have a unified 3.4 kernel with the Ultra/X series.
If you install this and post about how you lost your unlocked bootloader, we're all gonna laugh at you.
