Is there a keyboard for the stock Vivid, that let's me see the smilies & emojis that i send out, and also let's the recipient see them? :crying:
That's going to have more to do with your SMS app than keyboard. Any keyboard can make any emoj but not all msging apps can display them. Same for those on the receiving end.

O.K. Which are the messaging apps that display them on the sending end? Once i can get that going, i can just keep testing, until i find the right combination.

With GoSMS yes, as long as they are using a supported messaging app with it, and with iPhone
Handcent Can be set to iPhone Or Handcent only, Chomp is Android or iPhone (User's choice)
The only problem with these SMS apps is that they all have their own evils. You'll just have to try them all and find the one you can tolerate the most. Personally I've used Go for a loooooong time but recently ditched it because its getting so bloated with JUNK. I even have several paid themes for it.

Yes, you need to be rooted and it's not much more detail than what I posted
The stock mms apk that comes with the phone does this too open your message app then hit the menu button and pick insert smiley

O.K. I did that, and i can see the smiley going out, but the person receiving the text only sees the message and a squiggly line.
How does this sound: I take individual pics of smilies & emojis, then put them in separate folder in picture gallery. Send out text, and attach smiley as picture. I have unlimited data plan, so SMS or MMS doesn't matter. I know that this is a workaround, but for me, it's better than screwing up my Vivid by trying to root it. Please give me some feedback on this idea. Thanks.

Custom Dialer's for the NS4G
DISCONTINUED: Not making these dialer's anymore. Thank you to those of you that have supported and donated. I just don't have the time, and every time I post something new, somebody is messaging me saying that because they have done this on other phones, they deserve thanks for the work that I have done. I don't need the headache or drama.
I have been playing around with these dialers on my NS4G. These have been tested on CM7 Nightlies, Deck Gingerbread Rom, Bugless Pete's ASOP Nightlies and Carbon Series Rom and they work just fine. These zips will only change the contacts.apk on your system. I have made a few changes on most of the zips so a few things in the contacts will be themed. Here are some screenshots.
I guess that I should add that I am not responsible if anything would happen to your phone, so please flash at your own risk. If anybody has any problems on other roms than I listed, please let me know so I can update the OP.
Any special request on a themed dialer you would like, just post it in this thread. It might take me some time to get it done, but I will get it done as soon as possible. I have a pretty busy work schedule but I can usually work on this stuff on the weekends.

Look in the drawable HDPI finger folder in the contact.apk. Thats where I changed the keypad.

Each individual number key. Unless there is an easier way that I don't know about. I'm kind of new to doing this but thats how I do it.

So i looked in the file and thought hmmm alot more work than i expected, is there a way to change the back ground picture behind the buttons instead of being all black?
Also im running kings rom on my phone which has been running beautifully, but it is not deodexed will this give me an issue with modding my dialer? or any other files within my phone? ive looked at other roms but nothing has caught my liking. which one are you running?
I will post up a pic on here i want made into a dialer to ry it out on mine if you can make it for me.

**UPDATE**
I changed the text box color (Big thanks to 1dynasty for getting back on track with this ), made the text white and added the cursor.
I also changed a few other things, like the arrows going into the contact icon in message view. Also updated the contact icon to the dark one for unknown contacts and switched the send button to match the dark theme...
This will be v1
v1.1 Themed the About page (don't know why this is what I chose...), and the Add Buddy screen is now black. Also, the set status page was changed so that the status message input is black with white text... cursor is visable here as well

CM is deodexed. If you see .odex files, the ROM is odexed.

No but I hear with the new 4.2.2 update it should be with the stock messenger and by the way that should be rolling out In Nevruary.
On 4.1.2- not that I have seen. However, I haven't used the stock sms app since Froyo. I use handcent, which does support emoji.

If I recall correctly.. from 4.1 and up you can SEE emoji but using them is really tricky and probably not even possible on the HTC One. If you type "up" or something in STOCK android you'd get an up arrow emoji.. not very efficient at all. I haven't seen this on my One.
If you download the Google keyboard, go to the keyboard settings, then add-on dictionaries and enable emoji dictionary, you'll get the keyword emoji thing. It sucks and I've never used it.

Yeah, i managed to go out of my way to make sure the keyboard defaulted to HTC Sense input, and now i do see the emoji! I think mine was defaulting to Swype before..
man i'd roll stock if there were an easier way to use and view emojis iPhones style.

thats why i linked the emoji enabler , then download the multi ling keyboard and it has true emoji list
I use Kii Keyboard. It combines most of the keyboards out today into one. With 4.1.2 emojis are built into the system but you would need to use an emoji enabled keyboard to use them. ????

Am I the only one who can't type long messages with the new hangouts? I assume it's cause of sprints 160 split limit. It just refuses to let me type anymore after a certain number of characters. Anyone else have this issue?

Yeah as long as it's not an sms it'll type but if it's sending to a phone number it auto limits the characters. It doesn't auto split. You have to send the first part, type the second, then send. I hope official release fixes this

It's working for me, but it's taking 7 minutes to send and receive them. On the nexus 5 version, I couldn't get MMS to work at all. Stock messaging app sends and receives almost immediately for me.

it's working for me, with no more delay than with the stock messaging app (5-10 seconds). I never tried mms with the nexus 5 version.
MMS send and receive is now working for me after the new update but only via mobile data. Also, the video still crashes for me.

The official release won't even download from the play store in my case, I can only use the nexus five version. Ive tried to download it on both a sense 5.5, 5.0 (4.3 and 4.2) as well as aosp and aokp roms. But for some reason the play store only installs the 1.0.2 version. So I'm stuck having to use the nexus five hangouts v2 apk and mms only seems to work on aokp roms, no other. I also have the latest play store update, so I know that's not the issue.

This is my very first app, so please don't judge me too harshly! I created this largely to accompany the amazing blacked out apps of TBO, to give android users the full dark experience. As I have just started on this project, it is still very limited, with under 200 supported apps. These icon packs now all support over 1000 icons! Any feedback is welcomed (such as which icons need to be rethemed). I do them all one by one anyways as they need personalized resizing and retouching
***Please note that this app was based off of the amazing template by the1dynasty.***
Updates may be slow with this app, but I promise to keep it as a long term project. Hopefully it becomes something!

Haha yep I have DJ's theme and it looks epic. Ofc this pack will always be free haha. I learn from team blackout and if they can supply all those apps free of charge, there is no reason for me to not do the same

I've seen that before with apps that need resigning. Use zip signer from the play store and sign with test keys, not guaranteed to work but worth a shot

Do you know how I can fix that? I use my own test keys to sign it but I can resign it if that will fix the issue for others

So far, the best way I know is to download this app, go to activities, and select all the app data you want to send. Then simply upload to dropbox and send me a link or email it to me at [email protected]. So far, I'm looking for the big apps like twitter, kik, instagram etc. I have codes for them but I'm not sure if it's right. Send all the other data you want too! (please don't give me a huge list of apps few people use though I need to target the main ones first)
I'm working on an easier method later, but the dev has yet to reply.

I don't have youtube installed so it's quite likely that I have the wrong activity implemented. Maybe send me the activity name?

What Android version are you? I added 10 lines for YouTube so it should be good. If the app installs I'll upload in 15min
