Pizza & a beer.

I would wait a few more months until the new autumn devices have been announced. perhaps there is a new Nexus device coming up with recent hardware and a budget oriented price?

cant wait going to buy galaxy nexus..

did you consider htc ome s?
i was
At the end I have took sgs3 but if my butget was tight i was prepared to take one s
pros:
1. arm15 on board so future proof
2. realy good build quality (even better than sgs3, and I know what I am talking waiting for delivery of otter box comuter case for my sgs3!! )
3. chaper options for monthly rental, at least 5 to 8 pounds a month.
4 nice screen
cons
1 Not samsung
2 not sgs3
cheers

If I need to buy this year,I will buy SGS2.
If I will buy next year,I will buy SGS3.
No-matter SGS2 or SGS3 I will buy used phone and in warranty.
Because in my country just warranty 1yeas and new phone must cost me about $700,so I will buy used phone.

So u guys suggesting a strict no to nexus? I live in india here galaxy s2 is i9100g which is not so good for custom rom..dont hav a budget for s3 or even one s..

I was thinking to switch to a Galaxy nexus, but reconsidered. Now I'll wait for the next nexus(es?) mobiles to be announced and probably get that.

i9100g no good for custom rom lol? CM10 nightlies are available for it already, yet i9100 still doesn't have them.

Bolded text is horribly wrong. The i9100G sports the OMAP4 processor, just like the Galaxy Nexus. It's much easier to develop for this particular chipset if compared to the i9100 Exynos chip, and as the previous poster has pointed out, CM10 nightlies are already out for the i9100G but not for the i9100.

Thank You
Thanks, this helped me too.

lol couldn't wait..already ordered the nexus..hope its as good as the galaxy s turned out to be..thanx guys

Why do you need to upgrade it?
It's funny... even after two years, I haven't found a single phone I'd much rather have than the SGS. Most newer models are just too damn big. The S is the perfect size, and recent software upgrades have made it faster than ever.

Yes the Galaxy S1 is most rom and mods, rather than later, and is still the best.

I love my Galaxy S and I will change it only when it dies.
It still is the best price/performance out there, its size is perfect, it has one of the best sound chips on the market and it has a big list of custom ROMs.

Umm s3 has 2gb of ram unless your getting an internation version which has a quad core processor

Actually they're releasing the Note 2 soon, and that'll probably be better than the s3.
I own both devices but why the note has 100mb more free usage ram I dont get it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If you HAVE to buy one of those now, i would personally go with the Note, but since you're not me i would recommend you to buy the S3. If you're smart you'll wait for the Note 2 or the next Nexus, which i guess will be released around the same time (like last year).
Actually they're releasing the Note 2 soon, and that'll probably be better than the s3
Based on what? The S3 is undeniably Samsung's flagship, the Note is more of an oddity (nothing against it, it just doesn't have the same mainstream appeal). It would be against Samsung's interests to release a device that made their flagship inferior.

If they make the note inferior specwise, it won't be as popular. It's somewhat newer, so the processor may be slightly faster. The ram will probably be 2 gigs and the camera 8mp. The s3 will still be the flagship, and the note will be for those who want a phablet, but without having last year's specs.

Well, Note has larger screen and S3 is more powerful.
Personally, I'd go for Note. In the other hand it'd be wise to wait for Note 2.

Biased Note user here.
You shouldn't ask this question, every person in this thread knows what's best for them, not what's best for you.
If you are really unsure, wait till the end of August for Sammy to (hopefully) give us some specs on the Note 2, should help sway your.balance to one or the other

Buying a barely used Note.

Hello everyone,
One of my friends is looking to sell his barely used Note which he bought last month for a very good price. I may get for as low as $270. I checked the phone and I loved the screen but not the plastic-y feeling.
My question is: do you guys think it's still worth buying a Note(am not willing to pay for a note 2)? My other question is that I am a Gnex user running jelly bean and I wanted to know if there are any good jb roms available for the note ?
I also heard that Samsung said it would update the note to the official 4.1.1!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
For that price, get it
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
How's the battery life on the note? Is there any official extended battery or any extended that doesn't make the phone bulky?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
ya you should get it as note 1 will be getting JB update's soon

Okay thanks mod. How's the battery life? Screen time on the note? Is there multiple builds of the gsm note?

you can outrightly flash stock 4.0.4 to the Gnote. You can either go flashing it via PC KIES or PC Odin. If you want custom Rom's then there's plenty around this forum as well... Just do a search on the 'Android Development' thread and check out some custom Roms that might suit to your liking.
Off topic but why do people consider the Note cheap plastic feeling? I've always had HTC before this and this phone doesn't feel cheap at all to me
probably because of the compactness. When you take battery cover off you might think cheap. I don't, It's practical so thin. So far it works great, wasn't expecting that lol

Thinking of buying a galaxy note but have a few questions

I'm getting a really good deal on a note. I wanted to know wether the features from note2 have been ported to the orignal note, specially multiscreen. Does the note have enough processing power to run it smoothly?
My friend is on stock ICS and his phone is quite laggy even without too many apps. I did hear the ICS upgrade sucked but I didn't expect this. I wanted to know wether the installing custom ROMs would make the s pen useless?
M considering either note or galaxy nexus... plz help me make this choice!
Thanks

1) Multiscreen is not yet ported from Note 2 to the original Note..
2) I have 100+ apps installed on my Note & I wouldn't say its laggy..
3) ICS upgrade wasn't a flop..it came with lot of features, improved performance, battery life etc etc etc..anyways, within a month or 2, our Notes wl taste official JB..there are already couple of ROMs which were cooked from leaked samsung official kernel & seems to work as expected..
4) Installing custom roms need not to make the S-pen useless..but there r very few custom roms which does not support s pen..
Check out this thread it got some promising stuff about new note 1 JB rom 98% of things work properly
Cheers

If you are thinking on buying the note , go for the second one .
We had no option back when we bought note , but now you can just go for note 2
248 Google play installed apps and a few more from XDA.
Still smooth on stock ICS ROM with hydracore kernel.
But like the other posters, better to just get the new note since you have yet to invest.

Galaxy note prooved to be a success. Initially it was expected to fail hut if u see it as a device released in 2011. It was designed futuristic. It got 3 updates on gingerbread , 2 updates for ics and now will get jelly beans soon and some are saying it will receive key lime pie. Even if the key lime pie update is not official the note gave a good outcome to those of us who owned it from the initial days. I am still ao much in love with my device and i love the s pen. It took out the artist from within me.

Galaxy note is more like a mini tab, note 2 more like a maxi phone as they have different aspect ratio. 16/10 vs 16/9. For multiscreen ot will be ported on Note1 also, I guess, by xda developers. Don't know if it will arrive officially by Sammy

You could also consider the i9001 (Galaxy S Plus), which looks exactly the same as the i9000 but has quite different hardware. At least on paper it's quite a bit better and not nearly as expensive as an SII. I've got one of those and am really happy with it
Yes but the i9001 only has slightly faster CPU and slower graphics you can easily set the i9000 to the same clock speed as the i9001

A rooted Galaxy S I9000 is still pretty good, but if you can afford it I recommend you the Xiaomi MI-2.
I personally think that the i9000 is a great phone. It was my first Galaxy class and is still with me
I rooted the phone and switched over to running JellyBean (SlimRom version) and think it is just great. I do prefer the S2 just because it is that much faster, but finding it hard to part with my trusty original
Good all round phone but a little slow on some of the major games (I believe - though cannot vouch for that)

i will buy Note n7000

i will buy a new phone after 2 days and i think to buy note 1 n7000
can any one explain what the problems that faces this phone
is it laggy ?
some peoples say the s2 better than the note !! i want to know is it real
I auggest go for canvas 4 instead of note 1.
Canvas 4 can easily beat note 1 in daily use performance.
U will see many people over here talking about benchmarks and an tu tu tu which frankly hardly makes any difference in daily usage.
Note 1 with JB is laggy and nobody can prove this wrong.
N same is the case with S2.
Canvas 4 less costly, many features are same except PEN. You will have smart stay, smart pause etc etc.
