Hi All,
As I can see that no matter which ROM I install in my X8 the phone will be great in the initial days but it gradually slows down as days go by.
So can you all list out different methods to keep the phone fast and snappier without factory resetting it?
Thanks,
Well first thing that comes to mind is a reboot. But i guess you've done that. Clear cache?

Well I guess that would make it a little faster but is there a way that i can do without rebooting the phone and going to recovery and all?
Does the app "RAM Manager" help? or the "Engine flush" in supercharger script by zeppelinrox?
Try Ram Manager Pro
Clear cache

Ram manager didn't work for me. I use supercharger. I'm not saying it's better, just my preference. Well, fef (flush) works. I haven't experienced a major decrease in performance since using it. Hopefully it works for you too.
But still, i've found rebooting your phone every once in a while helps.

It isn't a good idea to mix scripts.. Use one only for performance tweaks..
So either use Ram Manager Pro or supercharger..
My preference is Ram Manager Pro because you don't need hubble telescope to read the settings and apply the tweaks..
Reset factory settings
Cachemate and similar apps work for me, I clean cache every 3 days and phone is never sloved

How about a custom kernel. That may speed your phone up and give you the option to overclock and undervolt. Both will make it faster. But the x8s hardware is outdated anyway. Won't be long 'til it's on the legacy devices list
Hey theres one simple solution..use good task manager.......and use swapper........

Use swap IF you're on custom kernel. DO NOT use a task manager.
Either way, your phone will gradually get slower unless you do a reboot at least.

Just reboot. Rebooting stops all cache. You could clean database and wipe dalvik cache too

This what I did...
I use FroyoBread v23b (Great rom, hanks to doixanh), I did that:
# Just install the necesary apps. Don't install all the aps, I just have Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, SMmagager and root explorer.
# Install modules and scripts. I recommend you Supercharger, do a overclock (Not to high, just the enough, like 691mzh)
# Like the other guys say, Clear the cache.
# Use a simple launcher. Like LauncherPro, you can do nice things with that launcher.
# Disable the screen animations. You'll gain performance but loose visual attractions. If you don't want it, dont do it.
# DONT USE TASK MANAGER. The simple answer it's, leave Android manage the RAM.
# Use a light and simple theme. Like system theme of Gingerbread or Motoblur.
Here in the forum you can a lots of launchers, modules and more, just use the search tool.
This is I remember what I did, my mobile fell so light and quickly, no lag in the scrolling.
Sorry for my bad english :silly:

I experienced this too back then in CM7.2. Do you use link2sd or similar app? If so, try removing them and clean your init.d folder. And then clear dalvik cache.

I am using CM7.2 already! and yes I have created sd-ext of 1GB and moved all apps via S2E.
But, the problem with this is, clearing my dalvik-cache from CWM Recovery clears my whole sd-ext partition!

I have roughly 130 apps installed currently. I used Jusada's ICS Final before my current ROM - CM7.2 by FrozenAce Team. The reason I switch to this ROM is, I had uncertain bootloops in previous ROM. It was really unusual experience for me. I put the phone in my pocket and when I get it out, its in bootloop. Anyway, I'm thinking to switch on "Ace of Spades V2- performance".
What my questions are:
1) Are you using Link2SD? Is it really as effective as S2E?
2) When I run batch to restore all user apps + data from SDcard, Is it really fast in moving apps and creating soft links?

Well, to be honest that would be pointless. I have already restored Nandroid backup which doesn't have this problem. But what I'm concern about is, I restored it 3rd time in last 4 days cause of this problem. Now, sometimes I even hesitate while installing a new app.
By the way, I'm seriously doubting on S2E now. I suspect Dragonoid is right. Does anyone using S2E have similar problem?
I also face this problem sometimes... dont know why!!

Yes, I had this problem with S2E.
I never get Link2SD to work, but it's actually great if you can get it to work, because you can select which app should go to SD and which app in /data. Some app like launcher, social, and instant messaging apps usually performs better in internal memory

This problem started when I partitioned my sd card 8gb class2
So phone started lagging a lot
And reboots on app install and uninstall... I had used s2e
Only solution I came across is buy
A faster SD card or don't partition it
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
This problem is pretty common,
The way i did it:
If you partitioned using desktop remove the partition format the SD so its back to factory Then insert it into the phone so the phone recognizes it again, then after that partition the SD card again.
If you did it through CWM, Then Format the EXT and the sd card, but make sure you have backed it up first.
Hope this helped.
Been using LG P990 ( Gingerbread ) for nearly a year. Recently I noticed the phone
seems to slow down. Just to open the Message folder or Phone dialer
it takes 20 seconds.
I wonder if a hard reset is needed from time to time for Android phones.
Or it it due to too many applications ( over 100 ) being installed on the
device ?
I used Anti Virus scan, Memory boost and other tools to clean up the
memory. But of no use.
Appreciate any suggestions any of you may have.
Thanks
You don't need to hard reset, just find out what apps are messing up or using a lot of RAM. RAM is the key. Have at least 100mb free and phone is fast.
I had this problem. Used a ram optimiser then eventually had to hard reset as all interal memory used up. Works like a harm now and gps also working. At same time i upgraded battery to a gold one. Phones like this are not built to last... the solid state memory itself wears out..

I have used all sorts of RAM optimizers, memory boosters etc..still the result is only tentative. After a while some of the programs start by themselves and run in the background gobbling memory. I do wish there is some tangible solution to this problem as I am sure many others are also facing the same problem of slow response and low memory reserves.
Yeah I'm on CM7 Nightly and my gf is on stock galaxy s 2 and her phone is amzing quick and no lags or nothing.

Search for V6 Supercharger it really optimizes your memory usage.. If not helps then do a clean install of a more stabile rom.

Can't find V6 Anywhere in market?
because its not on the market. because its not an app.
you need to download terminal emulator (or script manager) from the market, then look up the v6 script here on xda (we have a port of it in o2x dev section somewhere) and just follow the instructions.

Search for zeppelinrox's thread here in XDA, download its latest version (PDF format), run script manager, choose the downloaded PDF file, run as root (skull icon), and follow the instructions. One of the most, if not the most important tweak released for android imo.

I have stock V20Q with a Flix123 performance pack, no custom kernel no custom rom, and am very stisfied (smooth, efficient, no bugs).
I tested all the roms available in XDA dev (CM7, CM9 and custom stock) but no one is stable and full functions like the 20Q one. If you start with these roms and have probles is better that you give up.
You may update your rom and baseband using LG Mobile in your country.
In order to have better efficiency, I also freezed in Titanium backup some unused system applications (kit auto, google talk, f-secure antivirus, Email, backup, LG PC suite); no antivirus installed, installed only the used applications and not the nice to have ones, no application killer (android take care of freeing ram).
Ok I found it and followed instructions but got an AWK error message!

Reinstall Busybox, or try a different version of V6.. That's all I can think of. But if your phone is really messed up then I'd consider reinstalling it first. With a Titanium backup it would only take an hour. Still better than suffering from this.

Firstly dl the zip, then flash via your chosen recovery, I flashed on fresh installs so I recommend you wipe your cache/dalvik cache to be on the safe-r side of life , if flashing over a *settled* rom
You will then need to run the command "su" in terminal emulator , followed by "cpu"
Then all settings are self explanatory inside the terminal emulator,
Here's the op

Here's the link to terminal emulator in the play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=enO
This mod , may be cancelled out by other mods and/or settings saved from them, I would recommend clearing data from system tuner, set CPU, CPU tuner etc, and reinstalling them without making changes to CPU , also disable forced dual core if you have a 3rd party app enabling it. Er........ I think that's it
.....nope, if you restore from apps such as titanium back up, any data containing CPU configs you restored may need to be removed too, if you want to make sure you are getting the settings set in terminal emulator and not those launched via init.d or on boot completion

As long as you don't have init.d scripts in your system/etc that can conflict, you shouldn't need too, I re run the script everytime I flash a new Rom. So 3 times a day sometimes lol , but once a week should be more than adequate, the cleaning script should be done, at the end of each time you supercharge

Hello there, I am a newbie in this forum. Last few day I flashed my S5830 with SGSII JB ROM v10.1 and it works well. I love the ROM a lot.
However, today I have found out that, every time after i reboot my phone, some settings of my apps are gone. First problem is the launcher, I am using Go launcher all the while and I set it as default launcher, but after reboot the default setting is gone and I have to set it as default again, every time after reboot.
Second problem I found is the setting of my 3rd party messaging app, the settings in the app are all being reset back to default state, meaning the settings set by me are all gone, again, same thing happens every time after I reboot the phone.
I thought it might be the bug of the ROM, but i looked through ROM thread and seem that nobody mentioned about it, so I am curious why this happens.
Anyone can help out? Thanks.

There is a tweak manager come with the CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b82 I installed( is kernel or CWM, I think? Sorry for being noob), I suspected the problem came from this thing, so i tried to remove all the "ticks" in tweak manager and then reboot again but the same thing happen again.
I had used the darktremor a2sd script provided in it & also the a2sdgui app to have more storage. But some of my apps went missing. Though they were existing, I wasn't able to use them.
Fix : Reflash the rom. Delete the a2sd scripts from the system/etc/init.d folder & try some other a2sd scripts like d2ext+, etc.

It's normal; the homescreen is just refreshing so it displays the shortcut for the app. (it auto-places one on install)
And about the lag, download "Advanced Task Killer" and kill the apps/processes, or use the stock one. ("Task Manager")

The task manager won't get you anywhere. Android handles processes not like crappy windows and the task manager thing is unnecessary as hell. Search for it.
For the rom/ kernel thing try it out yourself . There are many good and stable ROMs on here.
