HTC Desire C - black screen of death - HTC Desire C

Hello folks.
The wife got a HTC Desire C just 1 week ago and the damned thing has crashed, simply just stopped working!
The phone is not rooted.
I've tried all the simple fixes, ie removing battery, sim card, holding volume down and pressing power button to hard reset, I've tried another battery (daughter has same phone), left on charge for a while.
The phone is going back to the shop however the phone wasn't backed up thats why I want to get it working.
Is there any other ways I can try to revive the phone?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance:thumbup:

I accidentally locked my 'unlocked' phone

Hi, after I installed a custom rom in my Incredible S , I was getting stucked at the boot screen. Then I followed this site instructions.
myhtcdesire.com/modding/how-to-install-a-custom-rom-on-your-htc-desire
But after applied the wipe data/factory reset, I think I just locked my 'factory unlocked' phone WTF?
'Cause now, I have (No service) at the bottom. I can't sms... nothing.
Does "wiping data/factory reset" locked my sim card?
Please help me, I'm freaking out right now
Problem resolved
forgot to put the back cover -_-'
LOL that's funny, but people do forget that the back is used for our antenna .

Yeah true. It has something to do with the gold connectors at the bottom and beside the camera.

it is funny, I was trying to cut the SIM card to Micro SIM card to play with iPhone using my SIM card. After I put back the cut SIM card to an adapter back to the SIM slot, put back battery (without putting back the back cover because I didn't want to close it too often to possibly damage the back up cover), it kept getting no service warnings... After half hour struggling to play with the SIM card out of frustration, I decided to go to a Bell store to get a new SIM card, so I closed the back cover, and immediately, the signal and service is back.

eMMC chip

I just got my phone back from repair and it has now got a new motherboard and I guess eMMC chip. I would downgrade and root my phone but there is one thing holding me back. I have been reading up on many htc phone owners who have had their emmc chip fried by them pulling out their battery because their phone has frozen or because their battery has fallen out of their phone.
I think it's a common problem for the incredible s from looking at what the htc person said http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20163494&postcount=23
I know it can be fixed by htc but not If you are S-off and as far as I can tell if you are s-off and your emmc chip dies their is no way for you to s-on your phone again.
I was s-off before the repair and I pulled out the battery about 10 times and I never had a problem. Some people seem to think that only some chips are affected as they are a bad batch. If so how can you test your chip ( by pulling the battery) and have anyone already had this problem?
Maybe I'm worrying too much but has anyone thought about it?

It's not really necessary to pull the battery, the button combination for resetting your phone is just press and hold all three buttons. You can still enter hboot from this reset method. Hope this puts your mind at ease somewhat.

Yeah thanks I didn't know about that all button pressing method which I will use in the future. I think maybe the desire s is more vulnerable to it than the incredible s going by the number of threads on their forum.
I must have been lucky for mine to be ok as I pulled out the battery loads when s-off
It looks like I have the bad emmc chip i found out by downloading terminal emulator from the market and typing cat /sys/class/block/mmcblk0/device/name
It comes back with m4g2de which I found out is a Samsung one that bricks after some time.
I'm not sure if I had that before. Could some other people check thiers to see if they have the same one?
I got the sem04g, SanDisk emmc chip

Same here bro

So the sen04g is the good chip and the m4g2de is the bad chip
I know the desire s is really badly effected by the emmc chip going dead but after doing some research the sensation also has this bad chip and according to some people is not affected by it so maybe the incredible s is also not affected.
I've got sandisk too
Yes bad EMMC chip need change

Does it really matter? If your under warranty and you fry it they replace the mother board automatically so they will never know your s-off

Mine was in fully working condition when I sent it in for the power button fix
Came back with new motherboard and fixed
I guess it depends on the mood of the service guy

Yes, if you disassemble the volume button you will see there are separate buttons for vol up and vol down.

[Q] I'm losing my mind!! please help!!

Top half portion of my touch screen still not responding on my HTC vivid after two digitizers replacement and even the LCD is replaced...only the lower half portion work.. someone told me this was the firmware problem, okay...I rooted the phone, S-off the phone and flashed the HOLICS rom still the same!!! ahhhhhhhhh....please help me!!! :crying:
:good:Thanks a million to the amazing Superguide by slapshot30, it is extremely helpful for a noob like me...:good:
Did the socket plug for the ribbon wire get damaged somehow when changing the digitizer or when removed the first one? Might take it back apart to check the pins or solder joints that seperated .
This is were the warrenty comes in.. just delete the whole system folder and it shouldn't turn on and get Att to switch it out or run a ton of commands involving dd I think and it will screw it up enough to be replaced

I really don't think its possible, you'll probably have to send the phone for repair. And you have posted in the wrong forum btw, this is the M7 forum (standard htc one) there is a dedicated forum for the one mini
