Dear Friends,
I wanted to reset the binary and flash counter values...
So I have used Triangle Away App and after downloading the needed files I have clicked on reset binary and got this msg "THIS IS A DANGEROUS OPERATION AND COULD POTENTIALLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK."
I continue to the operation and after it device logged into the official logo but it stuck there only on official logo...
"Samsung Galaxy Note GT - N7000"
Nothing happening,.... What to do? Afraid to touch the device, I may brick it..
what to do...?? Please I need your help...
It seems like you didn't thnik of my advice which i gave you. hmmm
BTW if its not booting then you have to get into download mode and flash a prerooted GB rom.

Would it be fine if i flash back to the Prerooted GB ROm??
I am little worried to this operation...
Please sir...
Flashing GB, just give you device back to boot normaly, Doesn't cause reset flash counter.
Wipe full after flashing GB ROM, then use Jig to reset counter OR again flash ICS and use triangle away.
Now you dont think you are paying for what you are doing?
I have marked since you got root, you are playing with flashing everday !
Sometimes that happens. Try it again when you fixed it.

Here is the procedure.
You need a JIG to follow the above procedure.
PS :- Only play if you know how can you recover if something went wrong. If you don't know then stay safe, sit on you chair and read the instructions first. Its just a advice.

+1, you may brick your device with improper use of triangle away, by the way did you match the binary count and firmware type in download mode and in triangle away app before proceeding with reset?

That's fine now, you have already made the mistake. I have used TA 4-5 times on stock ICS and it never shows the stats in app main screen, but it shows it in the special boot mode. I have used it on PA once and the flash stats were available on main screen only.
Wait for my PM.

Hey, can I do the followinga???
1. Flash stock GB rom using PC odin,
2. root it and install cwm recovery
3. Flash CM9 or cm9 based custom rom using abyss GB kernel.
4. Use triangle away app to reset counter.
I can then flash rom or can again flash stock GB and return to ICS (via odin) and can root it again using new method for root, new method does not raise counter...
I have received such method....
Will it work... What do you think so???

It should work and is working for most of the people here , but make sure to match stats in app and download mode this time, DO NOT reset counter if you are not sure and wait for JIG as said above.

I really can't understand why you playing with your note if you don't know how to do it properly ?
Almost everyday you flash a new rom, then flash something hilarious which put you in trouble and you came back here for a solution ? Why you can't be with a rom for some days. Let it run for some days, take the juice out.
BTW the steps mentioned above is to be correct :-
When you have GB rooted you don't need to use Abyss. Just go to recovery and flash Rom+Gapps
Wipe Cache/Dalvik/Data(Factory Reset)
Reboot System

sahil sir is really suggesting you a good idea as you have a single sgn.so dont dare to play with it dude.
i am not a master but i know one thing when i flash any rom(stock or custom) is to go back to dr.ketan's pre-rooted gb rom.so i would suggest not you only,to everyone who is flashing the first time is that----please go back to pre-rooted gb rom through pc odin.then try to do whatever you want to......
and a big question is there how would you know that your counter is raised??????have you ever flashed any rom with a short way???if it is then your counter is raised.if not then your counter must be zero.
and its good to be on stock rom as there are mods for it and even a very good call recording.what do you want more than this?????

hi there,
first off, im sorry for being a total noob.
i was trying to look for a full guide to install Criskelo ICS ROM v2.
i found an online guide from the site rootgalaxynote dot com
but its for the older version.
i was wondering if i can do this step but install using the V2 or follow the steps, install the older version then use clockworksmod to load v2?
once again, please accept my apologies as i have never touched an android in my life.. im so new, my note is still in the mail and i havent even received it yet.
Go the the development section find criskelo v2 and follow the instructions in the first post? Why go to another site when the instructions are right here

so before i run the steps above, i should install clockworkmods and titanium backup to backup my current rom and apps rite?
then i download the ics repack by chainfire and the criskelo v2 mod
then install mobile odin and install the mod?
Very simple as ABC.
First you use PC odin and flash a single file called chain fire repack.tar
This ROM is already rooted.
Boot up and install triangleaway1.25.apk
Copy your ROM to SDcard
Reboot to recovery using the CWM app in Your note
Wipe data.factory reset wipe the other one below the list. I forgotten the name
Wipe devalik cache from advance settings
Install the zip file called Criskelo or any other ROM from Sdcard.
Once you are done reboot and enjoy your new rom.

This does however increase the binary counter thus voiding warranty. By taking some extra steps you'll be able to upgrade to any ICS rom without increasing the binary counter.
What I did was I flashed one of the pre-rooted roms found in a thread in the dev section. After that I flashed the CF Root kernel for the rom I installed (I used the pre-rooted LA6 rom so I used the CF kernel for LA6).
Now you have full root and CWMR so you can flash any rom you like. For ICS roms, install Mobile Odin, flash the ICS LP1 repack, reboot to recovery, do a full wipe and install any ICS rom you want to try.
Pre-rooted stock roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
For CF-Kernel check step two "2. I Want ROOT + CWM" of this thread and download the appropriate files for the pre-rooted kernel you flashed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360

To my knowledge Triangle Away only does exactly what is says, it will remove the yellow triangle after you've flashed a custom kernel through pc Odin and thus having triggered the binary counter. To my knowledge Triangle Away is not able to reset the counter though I could be wrong as I've never used it myself. There is however a thread explaining how to remove both the triangle and reset the counter using a usb JIG: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354888
Counter is reset
using triangle away does reset the counter as well as removing the triangle also says your rom is samsung original even if it is not!.
you must use the correct ics version to do this one that does work is I9220LP1-N7000-ICS-REPACK worked just fine on my note. It does not work on all current versions of ICS. enjoy
Thanks a lot for the info! I really didn't know and I thought I read somewhere that it didn't reset the counter.
does the triangle away work for GB phones? just wondering
No

Hi, maybe you already flashed, but this is how I did it. No problems at all.
Starting from stock GB. (Or you can flash stock through ODIN)
Used CF-Root to get Root and CWR on the phone.
Downloaded and flashed Abyss Kernel 4.2
rebooted recovery
flashed ICS ROM from sdcard.
Worked perfectly well for me.
Hope this helps.

As soon as you flash the rom, abyss kernel will be overwitten (you get CWM).
Now a piece of advice, there are great risk on flashing any rom based on leak repack, there is an issue with the kernel and the eMMC, which basically can fry your phone (if you are unlucky).
I personally decided to flash back to stock GB.... just in case. I'm not willing to gamble with my note, but that is me.

You should try to flash Stock GB Rom via ODIN first..Then you can flash custom roms after you root your device with CWM installed
Best way is to flash GB ROM
If it flash successfully then wipe cache and data rom recovery.
If note damaged with emmc brick bug, it wont bootup.
guys thanks alot for the quick replies!
i shall have the Note in about an hour or so..so i'll first attempt flashing a GB Rom via Odin..
hopefully everything will turn out ok there and i won't have to search my soul out on xda about
that emmc bug that's been mentioned:fingers-crossed:.. i shall post here the outcome soon!
so.. while i can boot into download mode and in cwm mode.. the Odin fails to flash the stock GB rom.
it gets stuck (see attachment).. what's my next step? :-/ should i try to follow this guide?

I think you just hit the emmc bug- this is the classic symptom- stuck at flashing FACTORYFS after the wipe on ICS Rom.
Take it to Samsung for repair or flash using a modified PIT file. You will lose some internal memory but the note can be revived. Search these forums for instructions! Good luck!

unfortunately i dont have the receipt (so no warranty) so i guess i ll do the modified PIT file method and i'll just get a bigger sd card.. thanks for the good luck part!
so i found a few posts that seemed helpful, i tried flashing the FM-Note-Kernel_V2.0 via Odin and it was successful, after that i
tried flashing via CWM the ROCKET ROM - v23 - GB - LC1.. and it started out pretty good..the progress bar was..progressing
normally..the funny part was when the progress bar ended.. because even though it ended..it kept going..to outerspace..towards
the right end of the screen..till it reached the end of the Note's screen and it stayed there.. (see attachment) for about 6-7 mins..
after that it got past it and it stuck at "Installing Kernel" at right about half of the progress bar.. that is how it is right now.. i guess
i'll give it a bit more time before i do anything..
edit: the progress bar while in "Installing Kernel" is actually progressing....!! ridiculously slowly though.. and the fact that i'm staring at it is making it even slower
edit: we got past it! now it's at "Installing Modem" and... ITS DONE! ... i am completely terrified to reboot because i am 99,99% sure it's not gonna make me happy...
edit: indeed... no luck there

Hi All,
Hope I am in the good place to present my problem (i'm new in the forum and I'm just learning the "how to").
Yesterday I've rooted my Gnote (GTN7000 XXLPT - ICS just installed from OTA update). It was the paradise before i decide to instal "DPI change" ...
I set the DPI from 160 to 240 and then save + reboot ... Till that moment, my GNote stuck on the launching logo (Samsung Galaxy Note N7000).
I'm not an expert of Android (the proof ...) and I'm looking for the safest and easiest (step by step) solution to revive my GNote.
I know that XDA is an expert forum and therefore I please every of you that will see my request to help me ...
Ps: A part from the root I have applied no other manipulation on the phone (even the setup of the debuger mode).
Your kind help with this will be saving for me, given that there is no repair / after sale service available in my country.

Please help with this.

I´d recommend flashing this kernel (HydraCore) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863
Kernel Installation
Install either through CWM or PC/Mobile ODIN in the usual manner. Wiping Cache and Dalvik Cache is unnecessary and wont make any difference. Flash only with 25% or more charge on the phone

If you had searched you would have known that you shouldn't use the app to change the DPI. Once you have reflashed a ROM or installed a new kernel, then use Rom Toolbox instead or edit the build.prop manually to change the DPI.

Dears,
Thanks a lot for all assistance with this. Google play will never lies me as long as XDA will be there !
From your various explanations I've drawn the process below (please confirm that my comprehension is correct):
1 - Download and install Mobile Odin (Please provide a link to the safest version); Dont know if Odin will see the phone since i've not activated the debuger mode when the phone parameters was accessible.
2 - Download and install Hydracore Kernel;
3 - Connect the phone on the PC and run Odin (at this step I am not sure to know what to do);
4 - Flash and enjoy (Hope I'll reach this step)
May be the procedure with CWM will be more practicable, especially in case Odin do not see the phone ... But I really not know how to handle it. That's the reason why I was asking a Step by Step assistance.
Thanks and Regards

Dears,
Thanks a lot for all assistance with this.
2 - Download and install Hydracore Kernel;
3 - Connect the phone on the PC and run Odin (at this step I am not sure to know what to do);
4 - Flash and enjoy (Hope I'll reach this step)

You only use one of the two applications; Mobile Odin or PC Odin. You don't have to use them together. Since your phone doesn't boot, then I assume Mobile Odin is out of the question. I'm gonna write a quick guide to use PC Odin.
1- Download PC Odin from this link: http://ul.to/xt4607xx (you can search the forum, you will find many download links for Odin 1.85)
EDIT: Here's another link, the 1st one doesn't want to work anymore. http://k0nane.info/rom/odin-185.zip You can google "odin 1.85" and open the first link (it should be an xda forums attachment)
2- Download the standard tar file of the Hydracore 3.5 kernel from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863
3- Open PC Odin and click on PDA and choose your kernel tar file downloaded from step 2.
4- Remove all check marks and leave only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time CHECKED.
5- Turn your phone off and remove the battery and reinsert it.
6- Turn your phone on by pressing and holding the Power button + Menu button + Volume Down button (to get into Download mode).
7- Connect the phone to the USB cable and connect it to the computer. Odin should show a yellow box.
8- Press Start in PC Odin. The yellow box will turn green which means a successful flash.
9- Now you can wipe data safely (never wipe data using stock ICS kernel btw).
How is flashing the kernel going to solve the problem of a b0rked build.prop? Get out of here people.
The only solution to his problem is to flash a custom Rom.

Joey_oggie, thanks a lot for your step by step tutorial, it is realy clear now. I'll try it and revert to tou with the status of the phone.
Just a quick one, regardind the end of your post, you mentioned that I should not wipe a stock rom. My understanding is that stock rom = official samsung rom. Therefore it seems my rom was a stock one (GTN7000 XXLPT - rom updated from GB to ICS - OTA update), since I never change it.
Should I wathever do the wipe as mentioned in your post?

Hi Chasmodo,
I was just about to flash the Kernel of my GNote following Joey's + others advices above.
Please why do you think flashing the Kernel is not advisable? ... Do you think the phone will thereafter completely brick?
Please answer these two questions as quick as you can ... My finger is on the "red bouton" just waiting for you.
Could you also provide a link to a step by step tutorial in case the solution proposed by Joey is safe but comes unsuccessful ?
Thank you for your contribution.
Regards.
If your build.prop is corrupted/broken, flashing a new kernel won't fix it because it won't replace your build.prop.
As Chas said, the easiest fix would be to flash a custom ROM, as this will replace your build.prop.

Dave

Well, to flash a new ROM, he needs to be on a safe kernel...
And anyway, I thought wiping data = factory reset. Isn't that right? If so, then wouldn't the wipe fix his problem? I'm new to this stuff so excuse me if that's completely wrong.

Well, from what I read, most (if not all) Samsung stock ICS kernels have a bug which would corrupt the data partition when you wipe on any of them. The problem would appear when you wipe ON them, and not wipe them.

I would wait till he replies to be on the safe side. In the meantime, try to burn some time and read some of the threads in the Note's android development section.

Also flashing the stock Samsung ROM would also solve the problem as it would replace the wrongly edited build.prop with the stock build.prop.
Assuming you have the stock ROM downloaded on your PC, flash it using PC ODIN as explained in an earlier post.
Everything downloading, installing and rooting the stock ROMs is explained here by Dr Ketan
Once that is done, you can root your stock ROM and install mobile odin. You can then flash any custom kernel which is safe and has the brick bug covered. Factory wipe using a safe custom kernel wont brick your phone then.
I am not sure if flashing a safe custom kernel and doing a factory reset would replace the faulty build.prop file with a stock one directly. Chasmodo could explain more....
Flashing a stock ROM would surely replace everything with stock. So you have a clean stock state from which you can play around (rooting, custom kernels/ROMS, etc)

Xda is full of instructions on how to use odin search it. Flashing a kernel won't fix your problem. Best to do as previously advised and flash a new rom, stock or custom either will do
AND DON'T PANIC take it slow and don't do anything before you understand the process your phone is currently in no danger what so ever but a faulty flash can definitely brick it

Thank you all,
Really hope that this issue will help all GNote users when solved. Sure we are approaching the solution ...
I read in Dr Ketan tutorial the following:
Don't wipe anything from stock ICS recovery
Don't factory reset/Hard reset on stock ICS.
Don't flash any Wipe version of ICS ROM
Yesterday, after my GNote freezed on the "Samsung Galaxy Note N7000" image I tried to hard reset by wiping user data via ICS recovery (just after rooting the phone with CWM.
Does it means that my GNote is now bricked?
If it is the case shoud I anyway continue to follow Dr. Ketan tutorial to flash my GNote with a stock rom?
Regards.

Very sorry to say buddy, your Note most likely is bricked. I hope I am wrong.
Try installing a stock ROM, preferrably Ginger Bread ROM via PC ODIN. If it fails, most likely, at FactoryFS write, then your phone is surely bricked.
Let us know how it goes, we can guide you further accordingly.

see if you can still go to download mode and reflash a stock GB on your device. If it's successful then your good to go... if not, then look for the thread here to revive a brick phone.. note down the errors your getting (if there are any errors at all) when your going to reflash it again.

thats the reason why I asked to confirm.....
if you wiped on stock ics rom in stock recovery then it means your phone is bricked.
Phone getting stuck on factory fs during flash via pc odin is another confirmation.
Follow the guide in this --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886
If you have warranty then go to service centre and get motherboard replaced ( a better option) but tell them you were trying for update and phone did not reboot.
ok, recovery mode (CWM) is on now

We need to be clear here. Did the wipe occur on stock 3e ICS recovery, Which is NOT a CWM recovery. OR did the wipe happen AFTER reflashing CWM.zip (the one from you-tube or wherever - originally used to root phone).
If the latter, then we are talking about a true SUPERBRICK. ie: repartition or new MOBO being only options.

I have problems that i cant solve by self. So please some help.
FYI, I use custom ROM from samfirmware JB 4.1.2 XXLT6. and philz kernel 5.06.1
the problems:
1. A big problem is my phone is stuct at opening window "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000" and cant even enable to use. I dont know why this happened, it just happened after i pulled the battery out for insert new SIM card. So, what I have to do now?
2. Because of a problem no.#1 happened, I was frustrated and install kernel from odin pc (with tar), i forgot it will show triangle after installing. It was really frustrated. It should be install from recovery with .zip. So that, how can i put away that triangle with bad condition of my note right now.
Please, please.. helm me out this problems.
U mean stock rom from samfirmware? Reflash the rom again and after that go straight to recovery and wipe factory data reset yr phone should bootup ok and the triangle will be gone but yr flash counter in download mode will not be zero.
