Ive mentioned this on the last page of the related thread, but since it might get 'lost' in the crowd im mentioning the issue here. If by some way im violating any of the rules, im really sorry and the mods can delete this thread.
I have a brand new O2X, on which i flashed internal SDcard CWM found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745 and then copied on internal sdcard and flashed the version recommended for stock froyo (v10b) Camera-1.1.3.4_44-96.zip found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090785 as well as Paul's Performance pack found here http://android.modaco.com/topic/336678-8-apr-r2-stock-performance-pack/ . I tried recording 1080p with Super Fine @ Picture Quality (camera menu) but the result i get, as check on vlc, is [email protected] On android's 'Manage Applications' menu i see that camera is on v1.0 . Shouldnt it show v1.1.3.4? It seems that the cam mod flash didnt work so im wondering whether the same happened for the performance pack patch.. Any suggestions? Any advice would be very welcome. Thanx in advance
Peace
1. with titanium backup uninstall stock camera.apk
2. unzip Camera-1.1.3.4_44-96.zip
3. install moded camera.apk from .zip
have fun
p.s: If you do this correctly, you get new camera icon with red eye.
I can do this without having the phone rooted? I have only flashed CWM, i havent done anything more to root the phone
Thanx

And does this probably also means the flashin Paul's Performance pack also didnt work? I dont get it, this should be a straightforward situation
Thanx

I tried to root the phone using one click root (found on the dev forum) but it didnt work.. It showed 'failed' on step 4.. Now i dont even know whats going on with the phone... Jesus, i appreciate all the work that the devs are doing but till now none of the guides ive used has worked. Flashing the patch for [email protected] didnt work and now this one-click-root failed half way thru.. damn it
EDIT: Sry for the fuzz mate, there was a different way to root the O2X which seems to have worked, thanx for the input
I tried all you did, but when i tried to install the modified camera.apk i just got a message 'app not installed' ((
I stupidly deleted system camera.apk without backup and im now left with no camera app.. s##t

Ok now you have root and uninstall stock camera.apk , right?
Now go to recovery mode and clear dalvik-cache and partition ( via cwm ).
after this start phone normally and copy modded camera apk to system/app with root explorer and click on him and click install.
p.s: here is stock camera http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159404

I do not know I always do "wipe cache partition and dalvik cache" when installing modding apps, kernel's and etc.
btw now after wipe dalvik cache and partiotion, also can try to install Camera-1.1.3.4_44-96.zip via recovery.
I am really in need of help about Huawei ideos X6 (Wellcom A99 - Thailand).
Yesterday I tried to install CWM v.5, root Wellcom A99,using CWM Recovery v.5.0.2.3(refer to this method at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278027), and it's done successfully as CWM message notice. after i reboot to os, everything seemed fine untill I used ROM Manager (ROM Manager App) to change something just for my experiment such as change fonts, themes, the ROM Manager App required me to reboot the system to apply changes. When I rebooted the system, it's stuck on the first page screen (wellcom welcome screen)and now no matter I tried to reboot, battery out and anything, it wont go nowhere. Please someone provide me with the solution and process. Thank you very much for those who will try to help me out about my Wellcom A99. I'm in need of your advice.

I am not sure about what ROM manager did to your device, but I guess you are stuck on boot splash screen.
And I guess you will be still able to get in recovery mode.
(Just pull your battery and replace it if you are stuck on splash screen.)
When your device is turned off, press Vol UP + Vol DOWN and then press Power button - keep all of them pressed till you sense long vibration (Usual way to get in recovery mode)
Now restore or install any ROM.
Post your experience.

Now it would sound so silly to you Napstar, but I have to accept it that I don't know how and I dont want to take a wrong direction. Since I'm very new to this, can you help guiding me on how to install ROMs. Yes, you are right I can still get into recovery mode, but I just don't know how to continue and where I can get all those ROMs. Please bear with me.
Thank you, Pitt.
just go to android development section and look at the beginner guide its easy don't worry

Which recovery version are you using?
CWM v5.0.2.3 has an option for mounting sdcard as USB device.
Boot into recovery
Connect your device to PC via USB
Option mount and storage >> mount USB storae
Stay in that menu till you want to use your sdcard (for copying files)
If you have recovery menu v2.
Choose CWM recovery first and do nb0 file copying by following above instructions.
Then reboot into recovery (advanced >> reboot recovery)
Choose stock recovery and choose install firmware.nb0 option.
If this gives any errors post it here. Someone amongst us will surely help you.
Best of luck!

How I can get the CWM I used to use with my HTC Sensation
It looks like you only did root when what you wanted was root + CWM.

My summary of your best options:
Follow from Step 2 and use the already-rooted.bat file
OR
The better (in my opinion) way:
Purchase Mobile Odin Pro(MOP) from the market and go get the CF Root Kernel that matches your firmware to get CWM. Just put the Kernel on your sdcard and run MOP, make sure EverRoot and all injections are checked, select file, find kernel, flash. Done.
MOP has also enabled us to retain root when flashing stock firmware updates by using the EverRoot and injections options, however you will lose most CWM functions when this is done. To regain CWM, you simply follow the same steps as above to update to a matching CF Root Kernel.
Have fun, and be sure to hit the thanks button for Ketan and Chainfire!
Dear beestee,
So: I have Kernel KK2 - Download This - and Extract
then : I am Already Rooted - Execute "already-rooted.bat" and follow the instructions
is there any side effects ? like format ot can not Upgrade via OTA or else?
Is there any thing need to be packed up first? like the original kernel if this method will change it
Nothin side effect, you can upgrade over OTA, BUT If you update over OTA/kies, you will lose Root.
So you have to use CWM or Mobile odin to update newer ROM

Ok I done it and it working, but I found that CWM is a program now you can access from phone not like in HTC where you must inter bootloader and MAGLDR to inter CWM
I can make the backup and restore from inside the program - right?
You can get it with entering recovery too, you have to press Home + Vol UP + Power to enter in recovery mode.
you can simply do it with inside app - restart in recovery
when you give command to backup, it will restart and auto enter in recovery mode and finish it

But I dont think we need to root the phone to use cwm, you can install it even you arent rooted. But fyi cwm cant be used to root the phone, it must use the stock.

Yeah, possible and good solution would be to flash stock ROM via Odin. And then if you need root, follow StoneBoyTony's method for rooting. (You can find the thread here)
Another option if you like is, after flashing stock ROM, flash CWM recovery and install any Custom ROM like CM7 or MIUI or Emanon etc. Custom ROMs comes pre-rooted, so don't have to worry about root. (But remember, CWM recovery is needed for installing custom ROMs)

True. For using CWM recovery, the phone needn't have to be rooted.
True. CWM recovery can't be used for rooting, stock recovery is preferred.

3) what filetype (zip or img) to use for the stock rom and where to put in odin (boot or phone)?

You can change it to English, its easy if you followed the icons. I forgot to say it before to have a look at the icons for changing language.
Anyways Click Application icon (Bottom rightmost icon) > Settings (blue Gear-like icon) > Locale & Language (White colored A icon) > Select English from the list.
And, if you plan to get a different "Custom" ROM, make sure you install CWM recovery before. (Search in Development section for CWM recovery flashable via Odin)

You dont have any back up? If have you need to restore your back up. It happens because your SystemUI.apk is not compatible with the current framework. If you have a custom rom you can copy SystemUI.apk file from your downloaded zip file in system/app and move to system folder, set permission and move to app folder and repalce with current on and finally reboot if didnt work flash a custom or stock rom.

that is the thread i found the mod and it is called twlauncher with new style folders
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920091
and the phone is in stock rom ics 4.0.4 kernel lrk
is there any way to restore the mobile without flashing custom or stock rom??
Most likely your rom is stock odexed. You can manually delete the corresponding .odex files of those files which are replaced by the MOD in /system/app and reboot.

yes either as said above, try deleting the corresponding .odex files of the apps replaced, or extract the stock apks from the stock rom and manually replace then to get back the stock look

Maybe you should read this thread "Do not use cwm.zip (temp recovery) to root Galaxy note on ICS!!"
And read a little bit more of the stickies. Until now you should feel very lucky you didn't brick your device.

Most if not all recent custom kernels have cwm built in to the kernel.
