Tried that, still didn't work, I went through the log at and its some weird cid error, it doesn't authenticate, I'm searching for a method on how to skip that step during the ruu flash process, but I do have the correct ruu, also the phone does not let me change cid so other then thatbtheres nothing I can do:/

To install RUU:
SW version of RUU must be newer or the same as max version ever installed in the phone(including fota).
CID must match.
Bootloader MUST be relocked.
That is basically it. No point of skipping anything, the bootloader in the phone performs the check there is no way to fool it. Making it s-off is also pointless since RUU flashes new bootloader first, then reboots the device to flash everything else, your phone will become s-on.
How I fix this? JTAG.

Back in the day that I had major issues I did s off and everything then flashed GB ruu and it went fine. Ofc you will still need the correct cid or follow the guide in Dev section on how to flash a ruu with different cid.

It think it is much easier to flash CWM stock rom, then kill recovery and relock bootloader and wait for newer RUU. The phone will be "stock" basically.
And also this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26318550&postcount=2
I could not get to work on the phone after latest FOTA.
Making the phone S-OFF if it does not boot is also a pain in the but))).

Yes s off needs a booting system usually it will fail otherwise. Perhaps using dd commands from recovery or boot loader will do the trick but from me its untested.

I did solve this problem with a purpose brick then riffbox JTAG (full wipe, s-off, deleted recovery partition and relocked boot loader) also i noticed after tagging my phone, i was still curious about why it wasn't flashing the ruu, i downloaded the one dazz provided(ics) and i got an older version (GB) i tried ICS first.. Fail! I tried GB... Success i think it might be a corrupted ruu file, but then again the link that anders gave The ruu didn't work either...

also you need the correct rru, or change your cid in phone, download the latest rru for your CID
also are you on vodaphone?
the latest rru is ICS 2.31.401.2 this may be slightly different for ausie
austrailian cids are:
023 htc
001 hutchinson 3g, optus
021 vodaphone austrailia
The ruu is the correct one (VODAPO21) and it does not let me install ICS based ruu

Flashing RUU after S-OFF

Hi everyone,
Got my 3 branded HTC One S-Offed today, with the aim of getting the stock cid HTC__001 ROM on there so I can get OTA update ON TIME (Yup, Three still haven't released the 1.29 update)
So my CID's been changed to HTC__001 and flashed the RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13. 3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe RUU
All went smooth and all the bloatware disappeared, however my software version is still showing as 1.28.771.6 which is the Three ROM software version, which is why i'm guessing it's still not shoiwng any OTA updates available?
Tried flashing again with SuperCID instead and when flashing this tume the RUU utility showed my phone's software version as 1.28.401 like it should have been, however flashed again and same thing, software version still showing up 1.28.771.6!
Feel as though i'm missing something stupid if anyone can help please!
You have to change more than your cid in bootloader it appears twice if not 3 times go read supercid thread in development section

Checked it out, my HTC One is showing HTC__001 as CID with the getprop "ro.cid" command also without having to do anything, so in all three places my CID is correct, am I missing something else?
Sorted this by the way, extracted the rom.zip from the RUU and flashed manually through fastboot, now working!

This is exactly what i want to do. I have a HTC One from from 3 and want to debrand and go to a stock rom. Have you recieved an OTA update since you have done this? Or are you still on 1.28.401.7 that you flashed?

Yeah, the RUU set's everything back to stock, including recovery
You do NOT need to change all Cid locations for RUU and OTA's. Just the Fastboot one is sufficient. I just tested RUU and OTA and it works fine. You can RUU without even re locking the bootloader with supercid, but to install an OTA you will have to relock bootloader and change cid from 11111111 to whatever carrier you are trying to OTA. I personally have an ATT CWS__001, changed CID to 11111111 with fastboot oem writecid 11111111. (get prop cid is still CWS__001) Ran older Dev edition ruu, installed fine without locking or changing cid. Booted and system Downloaded OTA, of course wouldnt install due to improper system files. Fastboot oem lock and fastboot oem write cid BS_US001 was all i needed to successfully install the OTA. NO HEX EDIT needed.
I see you are on 3, is that in the UK? ... I'm curious that's all as mine is a sim free one and I wondered, when it comes to the 4.2.2 update, will a sim free user get the update at a different time to someone who has a carrier branded phone? I'm on Tesco and just wondered if I'll get the update when they decide to send it to my phone, or will it work differently seeing as I bought the phone sim free?

Yup in the UK, I had a Three branded phone, which officially never even received the 1.29 OTA. If you've got a SIM free phone then it doesn't matter what network your on, you'll get the update same time as the other SIM free phones, it's just branded phones that get updates at different time

I'm in the exact same situation but managed to dig a bit more and bumped into this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWqUlTSvr8U
---------- Post added at 09:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:07 PM ----------
I'm also guessing that i need to relock my bootloader to flash this ?
I started with the 3 Branded uk phone. I had an unlocked bootloader and TWRP recovery on it as i was going to go for a custom rom to fix my Bluetooth issues.
But after seeing the original post and realizing s-off was now available this is what i did.
With Bootloader unlocked and recovery still there i S-Off'd the phone and then set my CID to HTC__001
Then i downloaded RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13. 3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe
I ran this as the .exe i downloaded no extracting or anything it was untouched. It installed fine and i double checked the version on the phone once booted and they all matched.
While i was checking version numbers the update for 1.29.401.12 popped up so i installed that straight away.
Bootloader is still unlocked and i am just waiting for the 4.2.2 update now.

[Q] 4.2.2 Update error, help please

I got OTA 4.2.2 on my ONE, which i bought used, was Relocked & Tempered. But now after Revone, I made it S-ON. During the flashing of OTA, the phone restarts itself once, and second time when the OTA is being flashed, it stops midway with a RED exclamation mark.
I am not getting what could be the problem here
Any suggestions....I did not flash any recovery or anything...
I recommend you to root the phone and update the firmware manually and apply a custom rom... Or make sure to follow the exact steps to go back to stock.
I'm pretty sure there are some missing files hence the update doesn't find the right checksum to proceed with the update.
Have you relocked the bootloader? Worth giving that a try if not
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
OTAs will usually fail if any system files are missing. If your phone was debloated at any point, even if it's s-on and relocked, that could be enough to stop the OTA from installing.
To flash an OTA, you typically have to be completely stock.
What do you suggest i should do... Right now doing revone method... I am S-on and bootloader is locked...... I want the official OTA... Amy kind suggestions plz

revone will not take you back to stock. You have to run a RUU for your carrier, or flash a fully stock rom if no RUU is available. For the latter, you need to be unlocked, but you can then relock and should be able to apply the OTA.
Edit: sorry, for the latter, you also have to flash the stock recovery in fastboot. You can find that in the firmware threads, though you'll need to pull recovery.img file out of the zip file.
Can some one help me find the correct RUU for me... I have posted the screen shot...

There's no RUU for your version.
The 1.28.401.7 is for the HTC One UL variant (or was it the U variant?). Anyway the 1.28.401.7 will have a different MID to yours so you can't use that RUU unless you change your MID.
EDIT:
I found the 1.29.401.16.zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43316694&postcount=1157 and use this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40734501&postcount=1 to flash it so you should be back to stock.
