What is my d3? - Motorola Droid 3

I'm curious, is there different models of the d3? I see people say xt860, and xt862 etc. In my "about phone" section it said my model is DROID3. How do I know what my model is? ;/

The Droid 3 is the XT862. There are other variations, such as the XT860, XT883, ME863 and maybe others, but the name droid 3 only refers to the XT862. XT860 is probably the next most common model on this forum, it is GSM only, and sold in most countries outside the US.

Did you get your phone from your carrier?
Ones I know for sure are...
Droid3 (sold by Verizon) = XT862
Canadian version (sold by Bell) = XT860

Yes it's the Verizon one, from the carrier. So my model number is xt862?

If you're running the stock ROM that came with the phone (from the carrier), then I'd say yes. When running custom roms, this field would say whatever the rom is based on (I believe)

Or you could power it down and look under the battery.

Vzw decided to be d-bags... it reads them as apn's but doesn't let you connect... i've been researching for a couple days, i'm thinking maybe make a pudding of a different iteration of the droid3 sbf and enable it, if this is a method that could unlock bootloaders why not bands?

A question about global network

As everyone knows that Droid 3 is a global phone but i still have a question
If i go to another country and im not going to use Verizon anymore. Im gonna change my network using Gsm in my country. do i have to buy unlock code ? Do i have to do anything with that or i can just go back and insert different sim card and it works ?
thanks

There are numerous threads on this already. Please do a little looking around rather then starting yet another thread on a topic that has been discussed to death in this forum

Sprints Tab & Verizons Tab

Does anybody know if the sprint version and the verizon have the same exact hardware inside? Is there any differences at all besides the code that's written on it?

[Q] DROID 4 on gsm(Straight Talk)

I read the first few pages of this thread below. I noticed no American gsm career worked. I was wondering if there is any way to make a DROID 4 work on an American prepay such a straight talk. What is holding it back? would CM make it work?

I believe build.prop tweaks and APN setting will make it work on any carrier.
Not sure tho. Give it a shot!

Which model for AT&T in the US

Some might call me crazy but I like Motorola phones. I'm currently on PagePlus with an XT912 RAZR. Wondering if either or both Razr i models would work with an AT&T MVNO.

If they are unlocked it should work, for example look here or just google "xt890 AT&T".
Mine runs fine in AT&T haven't had any problems
