A question about global network - Motorola Droid 3

As everyone knows that Droid 3 is a global phone but i still have a question
If i go to another country and im not going to use Verizon anymore. Im gonna change my network using Gsm in my country. do i have to buy unlock code ? Do i have to do anything with that or i can just go back and insert different sim card and it works ?
thanks

Hello and welcome to the Droid 3 community
Welcome to the Droid 3 family. Is your D3 rooted? Running any ROMs?
Rooted surely~ using Liberty 2.0
but a disadvantage… Not Chinese…

Few people use this phone in China…

Some of us have benefitted from the Chinese radio from the XT883 very useful. Also changed my am/pm sign on the lock screen to Chinese lol. That was caused by the build.prop though.
What brought you to choose this phone over the others?

Go to the Google Play Store... Galaxy_S Unlock by Helroz
Once unlocked, always unlocked.
And fyi, the Captivate used on T Mobile will only get the Edge network becauce of t mobile frequencies.

[Q] DROID 4 on gsm(Straight Talk)

I read the first few pages of this thread below. I noticed no American gsm career worked. I was wondering if there is any way to make a DROID 4 work on an American prepay such a straight talk. What is holding it back? would CM make it work?

I believe build.prop tweaks and APN setting will make it work on any carrier.
Not sure tho. Give it a shot!

Mja. Lets you modify apn!

Well I had seen someone asking about this and I gave it a try.
I updated from MF9 to MJA 4.3.
Inserted a non-sprint sim card (telcel from Mexico) and I was given the option to change or add apn.
I've been trying to attach the screen shot s but the app won't let me.?

Ok there. That was my first post ever.
So does this mean it's already unlocked?

Have you tried a T-Mobile or ATT sim in it?
No. I'll try to get a hold of one later on when I get out of work and try it.

I just tried a t-mobile sim and it still let's you add new apn. However the "NETWORK OPERATOR" option stays greyed out. I don't get the "invalid sim card" error like before.

This screen shots I took them with the t-mobile sim card inserted.

Try changing it from cdma/lte to gsm and see if it allows you to use T-Mobile service. I would do it but I don't know anyone that has T-Mobile.

Can't try it until wednesday, my cousin is the only one I know who has t-mobile and he's gone for the week.

I can confirm mja let's you modify apn's, and now is even easier for us to install roma from other carriers, I'm running latest omega and I didn't even have to install stock kernel, just flash omega and modify apn's and i got 4g

No you must first install APN shortcut from the play store, use it to modify your apns ,
I almost never need to change my network mode! But just in case you do, go to your mobile networks or to your dialer and * #*#4636#*#* and then click on phone information,I hope it works for you man, please let me know if it works thanks
And just one more thing, after you modify your apns you might need to wait for a few minutes before you get 4g, it happened me

When you say 4G what do you mean? Hspa+? I don't think that this phone even has the capability of band 4 lte. I wrote a guide on domestic sim unlock that is reliable and any input you have on it would be great. Check my profile for the link.

[Q] I rooted ATT note 3 now I have a ?

I rooted an ATT Note 3 but I need to put a SIM from T-mobile and now Note 3 is asking for an unlocking PIN... Am I missing something? I thought once you rooted the phone you can use it on any network that take sims card...
or has this change?
please would some one lead me to the right direction for the love of god?
No I think there was a way to do this on an early build... You need to use an unlocking service should cost around 30

Rooting does not network unlock the phone. Whoever or wherever you got that idea from is very, very wrong.

Just use chainfire region unlock away app.
That only works on MI9 firmware.

I did regionlockaway on my MJ5 ATT rooted Note 3 and it did not work, it shows rooted but I need to use it on t-mobile network when I insert sim I get enter PIn to unlock
As I stated I the post you quoted it will only work on MI9 basebands and earlier. MJ5 will years no results.
You will either have to contact AT&T and hope they give you the unlock code, or find a website that offers unlocking for money. There is no way around it.
