okay so i S-OFFed my phone and unlocked bootloader and rooted and flashed WCX recovery and i succesfully installed the elegancia ROM and it said do you want to reboot phone now? after installation i presssed yes and now its boot looping the blue elagancia and dre beats symbol can anyone help than thanks
Did you do all the necessary wipes before flashing? Data/factory reset, system cache and dalvik cache
If you didn't wipe those do that and then reflash the ROM's .zip

its just boot looped for a few minutes and then it booted and its works great im still deciding if i should keep the stock theme or flash a jelly bean blue theme any ideas for themes? or do you know of any red and black themes?
Don't mess too much with themes, but I'm sure there's a few good ones around for it. That's normal though...the first boot can often take a good bit of time.

You will have to sbf to.602 I beleive, where you running 602 when you flashed ?
Not sure if it's just my PC, but it looks like the codes to change the text colour/background colour didn't work out so well
But, nice looking ROM.
Can I run this coming from Liberty 3 v.2.0? I just flashed Liberty last night and I'd love to try ICS for the DROID X.

Make sure you are on .602 radio (when it boots M should be red not white) then do a full data wipe before you install.

Usually you just flash over last one unless I specify otherwise.
I just rooted my htc vivid and i am on the stock rom for some strange reason every time i reboot the phone it optimizes the apps . I thought it was supposed to do this once after it rebuilds the cache . Any on know how to fix this? or is this normal

It's not a problem... It's the way ice cream sandwich works
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
From what I understand, this is completely normal, Gingerbread used to do this every time it booted, what it is basically doing is building/updating the DALVIK cache for the JIT compiler. ICS does the same thing but it actually shows you what it is doing instead of just making you look at an emotionless boot-screen.
Go to menu then power then enable fastboot. From then on ice will only optimize after a cache wipe. Or fresh install and such

Just curious. Why go out of your way, to possibly screw up something that is working? It does take about an extra minute or two to boot up, but what would you be doing with that extra time.
Yea you got a point thanks ill leave it alone lol

It's actually not a normal Ice Cream Sandwich thing (on every boot), but rather a bug in the ICS release from HTC. It should only do it once on first boot up or after a dalvik cache wipe. As far as I know, it's been reported to them many times as a bug. Who knows when they'll fix it.
But yes, a de-odexed ROM would get rid of this.

That's it! Restart and the issue is gone...say thanks please
Note: if it doesn't work your system rebuilds the files on start up, do the same from the file manager of your recovery...guaranteed!

Lol its not downloading or reinstalling ICS all over again...
What happens is when you reboot it clears cache (too much cache can cause problems...like slow down apps) because the coach gets cleared it has to re optimize the applications
So all that's happening is the apps are getting re optimized...
If you don't want this to happen then you have to get a deodexed ROM, because this is just a feature of stock ICS roms...and stock ROMs are always odexed...but any custom ROM will be deodexed for the most part...there's a rooted deodexed stock ROM if you want to keel it stock

Disclaimer: Flash this ROM at your own risk. I am not responsible for what you do on your device. I left this stock to provide a base for anybody that wants to use it. Mod this rom how you want. Just please remember to give credit where credit is due.
This is a pure stock rooted rom. It has items like busybox, init.d support and so forth. No apps were added or removed. Both Odexed and Deodexed versions below.
This is using stock unmodified kernel from HTC. Kernel source can be grabbed from HTCDev

I've been a little confused about which is the best most current version of TWRP to use, Ive tried 2.7.0.7 ,2.7.0.8, 2.7.0.2...Every time i try to flash a rom or anything it fails, Whats even more troubling is my nandriod backups fail as well , when the backup is completed TWRP indicates "backup successful .. but when i go to restore it .. it fails.. is it me? .. am i missing something here?... im rooted s-off currently running the harman /kardon software
2.7.1.0 is the latest just released a little bit ago...I don't own h/k edition but this is bootloader flashable I just made for non hk edition

Just tried 2.7.1.0... that failed too ... Any one else have any Ideas? ..Maybe a compatibility problrm with the H/k software?.. maybe ill try philz and see if i have any better luck
I just tried flashing viper using Philz.. that failed as well... gotta be something im missing or something in the way my phone is configured or a software incompatibility problem .. or evil spirits!!......really frustrating!!!!!...
Have you tried changing Android.txt rom SPCS_001 to SPCS_004 or something like that... Hk edition isn't really supported quite yet...
slimbrady said:
Ok so I went to install 2.7.0.8 via the Hboot method but I failed customer ID check....failed the fastboot method as well for the same reason..So I opened the android-info.txt file with Notepad++ and saw that it's looking for SPCS_001....As I have the HK I could see why this was a problem so I changed that to SPCS_004 and bam HBoot method worked perfectly....only thing is....my recovery UI is TINY! lol...it's like if you divided the screen evenly in 4ths, the recovery is in the top left 1/4th of the screen....all of it appears to be there it's just so tiny it's difficult to navigate with my big thumbs lol. I think it's the same as you posted before, just gotta pay attention. If you are just like flashing a mod it usually gives you the option to wipe dalvik/cache after you flash, the wipe menu usually in my experience is for when you are getting ready to clean wipe and flash a new Rom which is a good idea to wipe system. The ones I'd be most concerned about is wiping internal/external sd cards

AROMA tip
Sent from my 831C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So.. that version of twrpkinda worked.. i managed to flash that nVm8 rom successfully,so its not AROMA related.. however that's the only thing i could flash .. tried viper .. and a few other things.... they all still failed ..and when i went to install nVm8, I did a factory reset... Twrp did a FULL sys wipe..AND wiped out my nandroid as well. Glad it flashed successfully or i would have been stuck with no OS AGAIN... the only reason im on the hk software is because the same thing happened to me on a previous version of twrp and had to run the hk ruu just to get an operating sys. on the phone..
Im thinking about just going back to regular m8 firmware .. change cid back ... and flash the firmware i guess EH?
