Were not getting ICS - Motorola Droid Bionic

I just read on drippler that the Bionic wasnt getting ICS.Is it true?

I doubt that's true. They wouldn't have gone through all the work of making some pretty good ics test builds that work better than the gingerbread builds just to scrap them.

I can't find the article you're referencing. Link or you are fail. lol.

Not true, ICS is on my phone right now.

Are you sure the article you read wasn't referring to unlocked bootloaders? That is something they did say that we're not getting. It doesn't mean that we're not getting ICS.

WTF is drippler?

I've talked to Motorola and Verizon recently, while they pretty much talked around the fact that a published deadline had been missed, they both assured me the update is still in progress and would be out in this quarter (just not 'early' this quarter as that's past). Granted neither are to be trusted with any of this, but I'm pretty sure we will see it officially, eventually.
Get a leak if your desperate, wait for the official if your patient. Sad thing is I'll likely be in Canada using a Galaxy S3 by the time Motorola and Verizon get their s--t together. I'll get to use my Bionic on ICS during my visits over the border.

This, along with "ICS will be here next week" comes out 2 or 3 times a month.

Are you sure you weren't just skimming that article? It didn't say that ICS wasn't coming. It just said that carriers are notorious for missing deadlines and not giving a crap. It also said that leaks don't necessarily mean an update is imminent. Yada, yada, yada. Anyone, like me, that's been waiting for the official rollout figured that out awhile ago. Hopefully the official version will be pretty damn flawless.

I wonder if it will really happen before they declare Bionic is at end of life, "so sorry no ICS update"? Where is the soak test that would precede the OTA release?

I will find it tonight and try and post it.It did say that because I showed my son and he laughed at me because he is a apple fan and he even remembers reading it.

Miss CM7 from my D1. Wanted a D2G, but alas, locked up bootloader and no CM7 meant no love for me.
By the way, aren't we getting closer to that "promise" by Moto about unlocking the bootloaders by the end of the year?
Seems like that has gone by the wayside lately...big shock. Another broken Moto promise...SD card running on the Xoom sound familiar? 4gLTE via software patch that was downloadable? Need I go on? Sorry Moto, but your "promise credit" is no good.
Please devs, link to the nightlies as soon as available. I'm on board for flash-fest and test...lol.
Thanks in advance.

Stop whining about what Moto have not done about the bootloader. The droid 3 is not even 3 month old yet, and there is no way Moto will unlock it anytime soon. If they promised to unlock it, then they most likely will. Take a look at the Atrix for instance.

Atrix was an internal testing leak. It's possible that we'll never see it and I honestly don't think we ever will. Would it be nice? Yes of course, but we will still have plenty of mods to make this phone even better.

Verizon obviously doesn't give a **** about the bootloader, since it's going to be the first carrier to release the Galaxy Nexus. And now that Google owns motorola I'm sure it'll happen eventually, but it doesn't really matter.
I am very excited for CM7 (or CM9 for that matter)! I have only had the Droid Pro and now the Droid 3 so I have never been able to really take advantage of it.

[CM7] on Droid Bionic with dual boot!

This is an amazing hack by Hashcode! He built a hack to load CM7 on the Droid 3 that will also work on the Droid Bionic! I tested it on the Droid Bionic today and it worked! (ya I am crazy)
Now you need to note that this is in the begining stages, but with us Devs teaming up, this can be great!
Thanks to Hashcode and of course Cyanogenmod team!

Just curious, I know this isn't a stable release. More wondering into the generals about it.
This is the excitement I've needed lately. I've been reading the hype on the galaxy nexus and razr which have been eclipsing our new bionics. I'm greatly appreciative of your comments mistawolfe. I was a victim of TDB with the X2 promises. After two months of waiting and very little progress on the X2 anywhere else, I gave up and threw in the towel. That was my lesson -- money wasted. I now own a Bionic and I can't be happier. And now, when I donate, it's to sites like MDW, Rootzwiki, DL and here. At least that way, I have a reasonable expectation that my money is going to good uses. I live for forums like these and I will do all that I can to help them thrive. I was just very touched and happy to hear that someone else identified with my pain. Thanks again.

I was already gone from my x2 when I stumbled across the Rootz thread. It's funny, Butch starts out all nice and open to the other members, then as soon as he gets the phone he changes tone. I'm in sales, so we call that the old "bait and switch" - By the end of it he was just downright nasty - probably crushed many people. I sat and read the whole thread one day and was just disgusted.
I'm not saying he should have given them a blow by blow on a daily basis, but if you read the thread from start to finish you'll see what I'm talking about. Absolutely no respect for that guy - ZILCH.

It's actually completely possible. The DInc got a full GB SDK port. The Nexus S has a ICS SDK port. The G2 (I believe by siulmagic) has an SDK port. It's just all those phones are unlocked completely. The 2nd-init used on Moto phones would be too hard and not worth the time for an only partly working port. With how close CM is, just wait for CM9 (CM8 would've been Honeycomb for all those about to ask "but i didn't c no cm 8 !?"). It will come. With time.
And is anybody working on a port for Jellybean or Key Lime Pie yet? How soon can we expect them?

Why do people assume the Razr will get ICS before the Bionic does? Just because they said the Razr will get it doesn't mean it will get it before the Bionic. I'd say its safe to say that any device being released with gingerbread will be updated to ICS. My guess would be to look for it in late winter/early spring.

Just for understanding:
How will you be able to do that?
I thought someone tried this already on a different thread, the only ccaveat is that the radio code won't get reverted...
1) boot into CWR
2) Wipe/format system and data partition
3) perform full restore
If all that fails, in the worst case I'll just reflash bacck to the vivo (or maybe retail) SBF.

I'd argue that the update would merely be to 2.3.x where x > 4. Maybe the Brazil sbf already has the fixes and only thing they're testing is the bell carrier customizations.
