Unlocked and rooted, S-on still. Was tweaking my stock Sense ICS ROM, Got it to were I kinda wanted it.. Installed some new fonts, It performed a back-up, Then while "installing" the fonts.. The system became buggy, laggy and eventually frooze so I turned it off.. Now it gets to the AT&T screen and freezes. I've tried "Factory Reset" with no luck at all. What can I do to fix this?
I want a new custom ROM, But without S-off it's kinda tricky. Is there a tutorial anywhere I could use? I was thinking obviously ICS (MAybe JellyBean if there is a port) but WITHOUT SENSE. I want a de-sensed rom.)
Thanks
Relock the bootloader and run the stock ruu file for ics , once its done just start over
Easiest way is get the hansoon2000 tool kit take ya 10 min and you will be back where you where .

I really don't know what I'm doing wrong on getting this fone back to stock. So whats the best way or the easiest way.I read so many posts I'm really confusded now. If someone can break it down step by step It would be great..
Are you trying to revert to stock Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich?
Well I want to update to ics and I read to switch back to stock first then update.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA
To go back to stock gingerbread go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
Read the second post, I believe it is step 6. It will get you back to gb.
Then go here:
http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_v....502.56_US.exe
It will allow you to download the ruu for ics and run it. If you have questions about rooting, etc. post them up and we will help get you there.
THANK YOU very much.. i finally got and i did the update through att.
now with the 2nd thing u said do it through the fone or pc cuz they both say fine not found.
now can i do any ics mods without being rooted?

If you are in ics no need to do the second step. Just remember to root the phone, custom ROM, etc. you need to unlock your bootloader first.
Also here is a good source for custom roms:
http://www.wcxxperia-nce.com/index.php
You will have to sign up to see the vivid forums. They also have how to install videos as well.

got it..... thanks again
I flashed my rom today using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631499. Installed it in recovery via ssd then i read somewhere i needed to flash the kernel to i used boot.img and flashed it. Now its stuck on the boot logo. Please tell me i didn't just completely mess up my phone.
Need more info like what kernel how did you flash with fastboot now too get back to stock you need to relock your bootloader and run your phones ruu which you can download from htc

Somehow i managed to fix it and i got that custom rom to work. So far so good, can use the phone perfectly. That scared the well yeah out of me. I don't really enjoy the current rom but for the scare i had for about a hour or two. I will be keeping it as punishment for doing something stupid lol.
Glad you got it running if you want a great set of instructions google the Rom in my signature you have to join the site to see the vivid section and have 11 posts to see the downloads make sure to read the rules and follow them if you can't find it pm me and I will send you the link

your welcome
This happens to me sometimes. For me most of the time, it's just a bad flash and all you need to do is reflash the ROM and kernel.
Okay, I'm coming from using an HTC Inspire that was rooted / S-off and unlocked that had CyanongenMod7 on it.. And I miss that. I now have a HTC Vivid and I wanna unlock, root and S-off it. I googled it and it came up with alot of results, But alot of the programs out there did not work.
My biggest issue is right now... Rooting it. Atleast if I root it, I can get rid of ALOT of the bloatware on it, And speed it up, save memory and battery life. I dunno where to start. With my HTC, It was easy... I had like, One-clicks and a few CMD prompts. With the Vivid, it's talking about a wire trick, Fastboot, etc.. I am confused.
So my questions are:
What is the BEST and EASIEST method to root m vivid?
Is the "Wire trick" The only way to S-off? ( I wanna flash custom roms, too!)
Is there a port of CM7 or CM9 for this phone yet?
Go to the dev section of this forum and get hansoon2000 tool kit and you will be done in minute
But if you have any questions check the forum with the search bar or check the super user thread it is stickied in the forum as well , or if you need help with an explanations just ask away .

I've tried that before and I had alot of issues with it, Though it might've been an older version of that tool... Either way. Thanks. If I can get it rooted, I can get the ROM running better. I just wish I could easily S-off so I can CyangenMod7 or 9 it.
I'm not sure about that mod , but s off you will need to take the little door in the battery compartment and touch a test point pad on the board to ground in a cretin sequence but its really easy I will find ya a link

Unfortunately...we have no cyanogenmod7...and no stable cyanogenmod9 or 10...the devs quit on it...
S-off must be done with wire trick
For the toolkit, extract it and go to the data foldervlocate the htcdrivers.exe (might be a different name) double click and install the drivers. When it finishes reboot then run the toolkit

Dang. Are there ANY good roms for it right now?
I wonder if I could pay someone to do the wire trick for me, Heh... Because I'm afraid I'd brick my phone nor do I know HOW to do it.

Well the roms based off stock are all pretty solid
If you want aosp... we have desensified roms...meaning almost all sense parts are removed and replaced with aosp parts (personally haven't tried one)
Then there's miui which is based off a stock base.. only bug I lte doesn't work (miui will not be found on xda.. you must look at root wiki)

First of all, you will need to unlock your bootloader using the procedure at HTCDEV.com. This is a fully documented procedure by HTC and if you are unable to read, learn and use this procedure, then you should reconsider trying to mod your phone.
The best way to get beyond the confusion is to read, study and learn.
Htc dev not working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all, This is my first post so please be gentle!!
I have searched the forums but dont really know too much about what I need so please forgive me if im going over old ground.
Basically Im sick of waiting for the OTA 4.2.2 update of my HTC One from 3UK.:crying: As everyone else is getting their update 3UK have changed their tune numerous times about weather the update has been pulled, Is in testing, Is being rolled out or now low and behold its back in testing again. They never give a straight answer and after tweeting them someone else has reccomended changing my CID? to allow me to ge the update.
I have been reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317536 and I was wondering if this is indeed what I need to do. If I follow the instructions in this thread I understand it changes the CID on my phone, but how do I then go about getting the 4.2.2 update?
Where would I get it from and would that affect any future OTA updates. I dont want to root the phone as Im quite happy with Sense 5 I just want to be able to get the 4.2.2 update without having to wait for three to push it.
So basically can I use the procedure in the link above to change my CID. And after doing this where do I then get the update from. Do I then just check for updates??
Thanks in advance for any replies!
Regards,
Chris.

Use Revone to s-off and unlock, change CID from H3G__001 to HTC__001, flash the unbranded RUU, updates will appear when available on your device.
Use search for all of the above, unless someone else wants to give you the links..

Thanks so much. Thats pretty much what I needed. So as I know that 4.2.2 is available on my HTC one, once I have done all of the above, I check for updates and it should download?
Don't expect any help on here mate.
I'm in the same position as you.
The reason why Three are taking long is because they're loading it with their logos and bloatware.
Let me know how you get on.
Will let you try it first, will then try it on mine

Don't expect any help? This site is full of people helping - for free. The reason people sometimes don't answer is because they see and answer the same questions every day. Everything you both need is in my post above. As well as in about 10+ other tutorial threads if you would bother using the search at the top of the page..

My mum's a GP, if she ignored all the people who came in asking her the same questions every day, she'd be out of a job and would have some pretty sick patients
OP I appreciate you're new but you could have found the answer to your question yourself without posting this. You won't get any carrier updates from 3 until 3 release them, even if you have superbloodyunicornCID, isn't that obvious? All superCID does is allow you to bypass regional ROM restrictions. The only way you're going to get 4.2.2 before three release it is by unlocking your bootloader and flashing a stock 4.2.2 ROM. All you'll probably do messing about with your CID is brick your phone, and then you'll have to spam the forums more.

Hi. You will have to change your CID and whilst doing anything of this nature carries a risk, it's a very low one.
I too was stock brand with 3. Follow one of the many video guides to use revone and get s-off as suggested above. Then download the stock wwe (world wide English) RUU and follow the on-screen instructions. The one I used was a standard 1.28 version. Again, use one of the great guides on here to download adb and change your CID to htc__001. Bear in mind there are 2 underscores there. You're phone will then see a small update and then again will recognise the 4.2.2 update.
That's if you want everything official. Mike1986 has a great guide on all this as does vomer in the android development thread.
If you want to run a Rom using 4.2.2 then it's just as simple, I personally was using mike1986's android revolution.
It all sounds daunting but take your time and follow the guides and you will be fine. It's very difficult to brick these phones.
Always make a nandroid backup before doing anything just in case.
