Possible, yes. Of course it is. Likely? No. Unless you start a port.
On the nexus one we can boot from the SD card, why not on the legend ...
But the screen is too small for everyday use.

Boot from SD card? Well, look into how it's done, and see if it's possible on the Legend

That would be so nice that we could have both android and meego on our legend ! If you could keep us in touch with your progress, that would be nice ;-)
And just one quick feedback about ubuntu on my phone : I've a problem when I try to use ubuntu with the phone terminal, I've a "chroot: can't execute '/bin/bash': no such file or directory", then a few errors with unmount (unpossible 'cause there's no such file or directory), and finally a losetup: /dev/loop5: Device or ressource busy...
Any idea ?
Thank you for your help.

Yes, but for mobile 11.10 is much more fluent and smooth like, where as 12.04 is memory heavy and is awkward on a small screen, this is just a beta by the way...

Can you offer instructions to how you made it work. I have tried time and again following the steps to the T and can't get it to work. I have been able to execute every exploit with valid instructions to this point and even have figured ones with half instructions but have failed at this.

I haven't tried it yet. But did you download busybox? Or busybox installer? There is a difference, assuming that you just went to the Google Play app. HOWEVER, if you used the link and it still isn't working, disregard. I had the plain ol busybox and the install failed for me. I will be using the BusyBox Installer. I'll know once my SD card is done formatting.

There's an app that automates most of the process. Its called complete Linux installer. It has more distros than Ubuntu and the app is free. Its on play and here on XDA
Sent from my XT925 using xda app-developers app
Would this work with Arch or another ultra-light-weight distro?
Also: Is there any way to get Complete Linux Installer or another automated installer to run it off of the external SD? Safestrap takes up a ton of space on the internal, and I don't want to cram an entire Linux distro on there too.

Err okay which is better, Dosbox turbo + boot IMG from it - at least I get to the Starting screen for Windows 95 before black screen and nothing,
OR
this limbo /QEMU with the settings described here? Better sounds and performance with which one?
I want to run some late 90s games that require windows. I tried in the Dosbox on the PC and there when I boot in Windows 95 I get nothing but drive C: and windows files, it is all inside the mounted image in DosBox, I mean how do you even see the files if browsing windows from your phone wont show you the files of your phone but just the Windwows drive C: and the IMG's files.
P.S here is a site to download bochs/QEMU apk from forum .xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459153

[GUIDE]How to take Screenshots in Recovery with adb

Hello everyone, I searched a lot for a guide that tell me how to take screenshot in Recovery but I didn't find anything that works for me. I tried using "monitor" in Android SDK but it doesn't work.
But now I found a method that works for Nexus 4 and I want to share with you:
How to take Screenshot in Recovery:
(I used Windows)
- Install Android SDK (https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html).
- Reboot your phone in Recovery.
- Connect your phone to the PC (you must have the correct drivers installed).
- Type:
Code:
cd C:\"the path where adb is located"
and press enter, for me was:
Code:
cd C:\Users\MyName\desktop\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20131030\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20131030\sdk\platform-tools
or drag and drop the folder where adb is located.
- Use this code to check if your device is recognized
Code:
adb devices
- Take the screenshot:
Code:
adb pull /dev/graphics/fb0 fb0.raw
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- You will found the file in the folder where adb is located.
- Now we have to convert the RAW file in JPG file, I used Irfanview.
How to convert RAW with Irfanview:
- Install the program and the PLUGINS.
- Open the RAW file and use this Setting for Nexus 4 (I don't know if this works with other devices):
Image width: "768";
Image height: "1280";
File header size "0";
BitsPerPixel (BPP): "32";
Bayer pattern start: "GR";
Options for 24 and 32 BPP: "Color order: RGB (32 bit: RGBA)";
The result:
Sorry for my bad English

Here's the example I found using the tool "convert" from ImageMagick which is supported by just about every linux distro:
convert -define jpeg:size=128x128 input.raw -thumbnail 128x128 output.jpg
obviously the sizes need to be different...more details on convert can be found here: http://www.imagemagick.org/script/convert.php

Wonderful, thanks a bunch!! This is definitely going to come in handy if I get any errors while flashing Typing out the whole error message is sort of a pain, but this will make everything so much easier!! Again, wonderful find!!!

I used this code:
Code:
convert -size 768x1280 -depth 32 rgb:'/home/user/fb0.raw' fb0.jpg
but I get always black images and when I use this code that I copy from you:
Code:
convert -define jpeg:size=768x1280 '/home/user/fb0.raw' -thumbnail 768x1280 fb0.jpg
I get this error:
Code:
convert: no decode delegate for this image format `/home/user/fb0.raw' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/532.
convert: missing an image filename `fb0.jpg' @ error/convert.c/ConvertImageCommand/3011.
I don't know what to do
It's missing something from /etc/ImageMagick/delegates.xml
That example was taken from here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10558487/convert-raw-photos-to-jpeg-in-linux-php
I havent got a clue what needs to be tweaked in delegates.xml. I'll try to do some hunting around.

[Result + How to] Root Remix Mini using Arduino Uno R3

(Sorry for bad English if there is any because I'm not a native English speaker)
Hello everyone,
First things I want to say that I'm completely newbie here and just a fews day ago I read the topic [HOW TO] Root Remix Mini
That topic inspired me a lot but since I don't have a serial converter like which the topic describe and I'm a student with no money and knowledge about electronic, I decided trying to root the Remix Mini with my Arduino Uno R3 board that I already got.

INSTRUCTION:
Needed stuffs:
- Arduino Uno R3 (I think other Arduino boards would works too)
- 4 pieces or wire (I cut them from my old internet cable)
- A PC or laptop to run the commands
- An USB with Extract-to-USB.zip extracted into. Download here
- CoolTerm. Download here
- Screw driver
Steps:
1. To turn my Uno into a serial converter, I followed this video:
For short, connect your Reset to GND pin and you're done
2. Follow step 2 in this thread
I'll put a quote here:
Open up the Remix Mini with a screw driver.
2a. Flip it up side down, and rip the rubber ring out. It's okay, it will still adhere to the case afterward. Once you ripped it out, you will see two screws holding the remix mini. Proceed unscrew them and gently take the case apart.
2b. Gently take the case apart:

3. Connect Uno board with Remix Mini board:
Here are the needed pins in Uno board:
And the corresponding in Remix Mini (I marked with the same color):
4. Plug Arduino Uno into PC
5. Start CoolTerm
5a. Go to Options -> Serial Port tab, if you see no error then it worked
Make your settings look like this:
5b. Go to terminal and set your terminal mode to Line Mode -> Ok
6. Plug your USB with the zip file extracted onto the upper USB port on Remix Mini board
7. Turn on Remix Mini
(Currently no root)
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
8. Hit Connect in CoolTerm
If everthing done right you'll start to see things like this:

9. I'll place a quote from the other thread here
10. Commands: (copy each line and paste into CoolTerm)
Code:
Code:
/dev/tty.usbserial 115200
mount -o rw,remount /
mount -o rw,remount /system
mkdir /tmp
cd /system/bin
ln -s busybox-smp unzip
cd /data/local/tmp
cp /mnt/usbhost/Storage01/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip /data/local/tmp <- Double check zip's file name and try Storage02 if Storage01 does not work because it depends on which usb port you plug the flash drive in.
cp /mnt/usbhost/Storage01/update-binary /data/local/tmp
cd /data/local/tmp
sh update-binary 0 1 /data/local/tmp/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
reboot

Yes, I so much care. to kick all advertisement from poor apps out and customize some feature OS to enhance.
And some network tools need root. This is for expert user not usual user.

I actually have no experience about android and things related to it, but I have the willing to try and share my experience
It's a bit sad that people don't care about it
Nice work but it does seem like a lot for a novice user to do.
Have you done anything cool with it?

Well I'm trying to remote control my Remix Mini
Just trying...
I care
I never thought, I could use one of my arduino's as a cheap and (even better) already available USB to RS232 converter (I know, I will be just using the integrated usb2serial component).
Now i don't have to search for my old Serial-to-RS232-Cable and do not have to get my old Laptop with OnBoard-Serial-Connection booting Up Windows 7 again. Now, there is no more need for a possible not working adapter to USB, or any other time-expensive task I had to accomplish without your valueable post here on xda.
Thank you.
