Slow as hell transfer speeds!!!!! - Motorola Atrix HD

Whenever I transfer any video files from my PC to the phone not matter how big or small the file it takes like 10-20 minutes to do it. That does not sound right to me. I have the phone connected with USB 2.0. I am now transfering a 300 meg video file from my pc to the phone. It says its going to take 12 minutes to do it. Is their a setting on the phone that I need to enable or disable for this to go faster? When I had my HTX One X it would transfer in like 2 minutes I never had this problem.....

[Q] bizzare battery indicator reset

I noticed that when I plug in my NC via. usb cable to my comp. the battery is set automatically to 100% (erroneously) no matter how long the NC is plugged in for (for e.g. it was at 60% or so and I plugged the NC in to transfer a file....which took about 30 sec. and now it's at 100%). Anybody know if there's a fix? I hate having to guess at battery levels after this occurs. Nor do I want to have to fully charge it every time I plug the usb cable into my comp.
TIA

Yeah, a lot of people have noticed this... What you'll see is the next 30-40% drop off very fast in large increments and it eventually settles down to the correct amount. I never plug in my devices to transfer files, I use adb wireless or rsync. If I'm moving large media, I just remove the SD card..

Thanks! I'll try ADB when I get home.

[Q] Charging via PC USB

Still waiting on my dock to arrive but noticed something today. I had my SP hooked up to my Windows 8 PC via the USB to top up the charge and noticed that if my PC goes into sleep mode (i.e. screen shuts off, etc.) the phone doesn't charge. Once I log back in it starts back up again. Found that strange.
I'm assuming it will be the same on the dock if hooked up the the PC? Sucks if it is as it won't charge overnight that way. Is there anyway around it? Is this a phone issue or Windows thing?

PC powersafe settings.. You should be able to change this via the BIOS settings but I dont have the proper knowledge of this

Its windows powersaving. Look at your Powersaving software (if you have one). Maybe there is an option where you can set what exactly will shutdown after some time. For example, screen, hard drives, usb sockets. When you have laptop It won't be difficult i think. On desktop PCs without such software you can look in some windows powersaving options or as was in previos post said - in BIOS.
I dont have win 8 or even 7 so I cant say exactly where you should looking for.
Thanks guys. I'll check it out when I get home to see if there are any config type settings I can use. I'll update if there is.

[Q] my sister's samsung galaxy note 1 won't tturn on

her phone suddenly shut down and won't open again, only showing samsung, then she pressed the home button, down volume, and the lock button, then chose download custom os
later she kept charging it but nothing happed for 3 hours the screen says it is downloading, pleasehelp
Could you add a screen capture pc? Since the problem may be that error on the PC, in that case could be due to use USB cable, or pc USB port. Meyor problem seems not.
I suffered that mistake for months, and was one fault of the USB cable, giving minimal disconnections that cut the same facility, although the mobile waits, never end for that reason, because you need the complete installation from the pc, then when you restart the phone and the pc would not problems.

A way to turn off charging another phone when doing smart switch via USB cable?

So I'm facing a problem with Smart Switch. I have a iphone and I'm trying to do Smart Switch Via USB cable using the adapter on the Note 8 then using the iPhone USB cable to the Note 8 to iPhone.
I can't do via wireless which I would like to do as I have more memory used up on my iPhone then iCloud gives you for free as I have the 256 GB version and I'm almost out of space and I don't want to pay for mote iCloud storage especially since I'm not going too have the iPhone anymore.
Anyways when I do it via USB cable and it starts transferring fine. The problem is that every time you plug in the USB cable for Smart Switch my Note 8 always charges my IPhone draining my Note 8 Battery like crazy. I'll have it at 100 percent battery and then get Smart Switch to like 99 percent complete but then the battery gets below 80 percent and then stops the transfer and says I need to be at 80 percent or high as my battery is too low.
Everytime I pull down the notification drawer and go to the charge settings I set it to file transfer only and then it disconnects the transfer then starts it over again and it's once again back to charing my iPhone. This is really annoying as I have gotten close several times and then the battery gets too low. It sucks it doesn't even resume where it left off with the smart switch when I get the battery charged back up to try again.
I can't charge my Note 8 while doing Smart Switch via USB as there is no where else to plug something in to charge it and I don't have a wireless charging pad at this point.
So my question is is there a way to force it to stay set on file transfer instead of always auto having it to reset to charge another device?
I have been stuck here all day trying to do this Smart Switch and it hasn't completed yet as it keeps restarting.
Do they make a male USB C to a splitter to 2 female USB C's so I can charge while also transferring for Smart Switch? Will that even work?
I gave your situation some thought and I have a hypothesis.
A few years back, Samsung began including an application called 'TransmitPowerService' and it does exactly that; transfer power.
So if your Samsung device is connected to another mobile device via cable, it will transfer power from Source A to Source B.
There's a few approaches we can take but please do the following first:
Charge the Note 8 to full capacity; place your device in power saving mode (medium power) and attempt the transfer again.
To access Power Saving Mode, go to Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery > Power Saving Mode.
If this fails, I can give you two alternatives that will outright disable this application and we can see if it resolves your difficulties.
Rose from the ASHES!
I got a S22 Ultra and am having this exact same problem.
Mainly as I have a 1 TB SD card and transferring all of that to a 1TB S22 Ultra is 12 hrs .Good god....
Wish we could have just had a $200 1 TB Sd Card vs paying so much for this Crap.

Note8 abruptly shut off after media transfer with S8+ using dual USB C

So let me start off by saying this could've been really dumb on my part to even try....
I received my Note8 a few days ago and wanted to transfer over everything from my S8+. I had a dual USB C cable from Anker (that is USB-IF certified, according to their Amazon listing) and I figured I'd try that instead of the normal OTG + Cable setup. Smart Switch transferred fine without a hiccup and everything seemed alright.
Next, I wanted to transfer over my media from my SD card on my S8+ to the SD card on my Note8. Seemed like the most efficient way was to just use the USB C cable and a file manager app and just literally copy them over. I ended up using the Downloads app for a few transfer without a problem.
The problem starts when I start my second round of transfers, a bunch of videos and a concurrent transfer of some backup files. It starts off fine, and then I notice the estimate starts to climb up. Finally, a few minutes later, my Note8 abruptly shuts off without warning. I go to pick it up and it's pretty warm (not too hot, my old S7E and Note7 have been a lot warmer). I turn it on, it boots up normally and everything seems fine. I never received a warning or dialog as to why my phone randomly shut off. I immediately download a battery stats app and my phone is at 38°C, which seems high but again I've seen worse. Ever since it's been operating fine but I'm paranoid that I may have caused some damage.
Is there a way to read why my phone abruptly shut off? Any idea why it did? I'm concerned about the USB C cable being faulty, I trust Anker, but even they had to recall a cable previously.
tl;dr - used a dual USB C cable to move data over to my Note8... Worked for a while until it abruptly shut off. Haven't noticed anything wrong with it since, but I'm paranoid that I may have messed something up.
