it's not syncing properly with the email server. and it's not pulling down the messages.
i click on the envelope and get the can't display message. may be to large.
i can delete emails from my pc. but they don't erase from phone. (not syncing)
all emails BEFORE the account setup work just fine. but everything AFTER the setup is a no go. they all come through. but no messages are displayed. and they won't erase when i've deleted from the pc. or erase from the phone, they still show up on pc.
i have to use aol.com to see my email. and use the phone client to delete what i don't want. in other words. i have a workaround but it's a pain. (i'm a trucker so i'm out in the country a lot)
for some reason it's just not syncing right with the server.
is there a setting i'm missing????
others say 232 is rock solid and email works just fine. so why am i having a problem????
when i first installed 232. i had all kindsa glitches. but found that related to a bad 905 that got installed. so now i've got a functioning phone i can handle EXCEPT MY EMAIL.
downloaded an app called exchange.
all is glden now. thread closed

Hello,
I’ve been using the phone for few days now and I’m having some problems with my e-mail. I have configured three e-mails accounts, 1 Gmail and two pop 3 mails.
The deal is that whenever I use the e-mail app I can check new e-mails, but I can’t see the old messages (the one I read before). Also, alter seeing the messages in the SGS the messages disappear from the phone AND from my e-mail server. I already checked the configuration and I have selected “Never” in the “Delete e-mail from the server” in the “Incoming server settings” of both accounts but it looks like as soon as the e-mail apps access my account it actually deletes the message from the server.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks
Do they disappear immediately?
Are you sure you don't check them elsewhere (standalone computer) where they ARE removed from the server?
Don't have that issue here, only once I check them on my home computer they are removed from the server and my phone.
I'm sure. I was traveling, and the only way to chck my e-mail was using the phone. When I got home I tried to download the messages in the outlook and no messages were downloaded. Than I tried to acess the messages using webmail and again I couldn't fine the messages. They just disappeared.
Tried again with the same results. I read the messages on the SGS and 10 seconds later the message disappears from the phone and from the server (I tried to read the messages using a Webmail page and there is no message in the inbox).
Looks like a Bug, but it's strange that I'm the only one that is experiencing this issue. I recall that I had a similar issue with my Archos, but I thought it was a problem with Android 1.6. It may be a issue with my e-mail account but it is just a simple pop 3 account. I see no reason why it would behave like that.
pop3 email vanishes
I am having the same type problem with my samsung vibrant.I set up a pop3 account using my cable account. I can send and receive mail but my mail vanishes from the inbox. It does stay on the server luckily. Nobody at tmobil or samsung has a solution except to use k9 but it happens on it also/ So they blame isp which makes no sense since it arrives. Very frustrating
I flashed to JM5 the other day and setup my google account on startup as usual.
Everything came down ok - calendar, contacts and mail. I have push enabled and I get informed of my mails almost instantly as expected. I can mark them as read and/or delete them without issues.
The issues come later when I sign onto my GMail account on my home PC - all the mails I have read/deleted during the day are still marked as unread and I have to re-read/re-delete them. Everything else works fine!
Can anyone shed any light on this?
I've tried to delete the account and re-add but it says I can't remove it (since other apps are so dependent on it) without a factory reset.
i've my gmail account configured to Archive downloaded/read emails

I have the same problem, and it started recently...past two weeks probably. It is annoying, I'll open gmail on the phone, read the messages, close gmail, open gmail and they are right back.
I'm on a Vibrant, search feature brought me here...
when i try to sync my emails with my live.de (hotmail) account i always get the error 86000108. if i uncheck the email-sync box synchronization works fine (without email of course). if i check the box again i get this error back (m.hotmail.com).
the used email is my live.id so i can´t delete it from my phone and set it up again afterwards to see if it works fine then...
From memory 86000108 used to relate to having a corrupted item causing the sync to fail. In this case obviously in your mailbox which would explain why disabling it allows the rest of the sync to complete.
I would check Hotmail for any corrupted items and delete them.
Do you have anything else that syncs that mail, Outlook etc?
Yes I have (outlook 2010).
Nevertheless after some hours of swearing and trying I found the solution:
I tried to sync ALL emails, after switching to "only emails from the last month" it works fine. Seems it can´t handle too many mails...
Regards
Similar solution for me - thanks!
It turned out I had a 24mb email that was stopping the sync. Once I permanently deleted the large email, syncing started working straight away.
Just helped a friend with the same issue but a different error code. was his primary live account and it wouldn't sync.
Emptied out his live account but it still wouldn't sync... finally we cleaned out all his messages on his phone (including emptying the deleted messages folder) and that seemed to do the trick!!
Anyone been able to use ActiveSync on the NC? I'm, trying Touchdown and can't get it to configure. It just "hangs" trying to initialize ActiveSync.

I know there's at least one other person that has reported getting Moxie Mail to work (another mail client that uses ActiveSync).
I got moxier to work on the first try. What I don't like about it is the inability to manipulate forwards or replies. You can only add to the existing message but not edit it. Which kinda sucks cause lots of times I have to send out the same info but with tiny variations. And the lack of copy/paste makes it kinda hard...
Would the stock mail apps from another ROM work?
Or has anyone tried RoadSync?
Apparently the problem with Touchdown is that it is trying to send the non-existent IMEI number to Activesync. Here is a thread from the Viewsonic G forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851002. There is a link in there to a beta of touchdown that you can download (put up by the developer) that seems to work. Mine is syncing contacts as we speak.
Installed and works great. The download is a 30 day trial. I have no idea how you would buy it as I have not crossed that bridge yet.
I've been trying to get both exchange email and calendar to work. I was marginally successful with exchange email. I installed an email.apk for the Droid X (eclair 2.1) and that worked. But there are some glitchy items. (Menu brings up a "phone" menu with some text missing; it's usable but odd). I also don't like the hard cap of 1 months worth of email. The program would not work with yahoo but did work with gmail.
I failed getting improved email (which is what I use for my droid 2 and I really like the program) to work; it just doesn't show up as an apk that is "installable". I believe if this is because improved email is for Froyo only.
K-9 in theory handles some exchange email but I couldn't get it to work.
Calendar was a complete fail. I think this is because you need some system apps running (com. android.providers.calendar.apk and another one as well). I don't have the skillz to handle that.
EDIT: The Touchdown beta does work and includes calendar. Will have to test it out.
I'm running Bad Boys 2.1 ROM on a HK Phone. All is running pretty good.
Except one annoying issue.
If I read my email on my phone, the read status is not pushed back to the server unless I manually force an Update.
If I change the Read Status on My Desktop it will instantly show on the Phone.
If I change the Read Status on My Phone it will not reflect status on the Desktop unless I force an Update.
This is happening with both Hotmail.com (using exchange) and my corporate account running Exchange 2013.
I have Push Enabled on both accounts.
I'm using the HTC Native Email app (with 2 Exchange Accounts and 1 Pop account).
I think this issue causes other problems too that if I take a long time to compose a message on the phone, such that it saves a temporary draft. Then when I eventually send the message the Draft is gone off the phone but still exists on the Desktop in the Draft Folder. It never sends the notification that the Draft was sent. Just like it doesn't send the Read Status.
I'm not sure if this is an Android issue, HTC issue or my particular ROM issue.
I suspect if I set the account to Poll Every 5 Minutes instead of Push it would work. But I really like Push.

Strange.. i would double check your active sync devices and make sure you haven't exceeded your company's device limit. You can do this through OWA go to options, then phone.
