Alright, I'm trying to get rid of all the .apks from FreshToast that I don't use.
So far, I've run the script in this thread to remove Sense, but that still leaves a lot behind.
I pushed to AOSP DeskClock to it last night, but that caused a small problem. I did this in hopes of removing the HTC Clock and just having the AOSP clock, but now I have three total clocks (Clock (HTC), Clock (AOSP), and Desk Clock (HTC)). I also have two "Analog Clock" widget options, but one of them drops the HTC clock onto my home screen. I just want to keep the AOSP clock.
I pushed the AOSP Mms.apk and it worked flawlessly. Now I have my faster SMS speeds again
I pushed the AOSP Music.apk and rm'd the HtcMusicPlayer.apk, also worked great.
What I want to remove now are:
Weather (HTC)
Voicemail (I use Google Voice for my VVM)
I just don't know the .apk names of those apps, and I'm not one to just start blindly removing them.
And one last thing. I need the .apks for the AOSP calculator. I took apart a couple of ROMs looking for the .apks and that's the only one I was having trouble finding.
Thanks for any help

Ha, I can do everything that Root Explorer can do through ADB (or at least what I would need it for.) I'm more asking what are the things that I need to remove.

Voicemail should be Sprint_Core.apk
I use Android Commander to delete files. Just make a copy of the and if they are needed drag and drop back to /system/app

You can remove anything to do with HtcWigets. Its a little harder deleting stuff from a Sense rom then darchdroid(aosp) rom cuz alot of htc stuff is tied together.
If you arent using htc sense, then you can delete all of the htc widgets and weather animation and rosie.apk
anyone know if HTC IQAgent apk/odex is safe to remove?
thank you thank you
eidt: i searched google and couldnt really find a definitive answer.
remove world clock or desk clock and maintain alarm?
alright, after a few more seconds of research, i believe it should stay.
next question, i dont use the desk clock but sometimes i use my phone to set an alarm.
can i remove the world clock and maintain the desk clock and alarm? or can i remove the world clock and still have the desk clock and alarm functionality?
im just removing things... thank you thank you
edit: also gtalkservice. safe to remove? im figuring not.

Only way to know is to try, right? Nandroid first, of course. I think all the clocks are inter-related somehow on a Sense ROM, so my guess is that removing any one of the clock or alarm apk's will kinda break them all. But I've never actually tried it myself to know for 100% sure.
EDIT: I think you CAN safely remove the HTC clock widget, but why would you want to? I assume most people use the clock in its widget form on a home screen.

Many times when you try to remove Google things from your phone (ones that were already included with a ROM like gtalk), your access/login to the Market can break. Not always, but it does happen enough that most people typically don't mess with the included Google stuff.

i left the gtalkservice. i deleted google talk, nothing seemed to be affected. i dont use any widgets, i deleted those on day one. maybe ill try deleting the clock...
thanks
I deleted my WorldClock.apk no problem. I actually prefer the AOSP eclair clock and alarm clock better. Also yes, you can delete google talk, just don't delete the service. If you delete the service, it will break your Android market

hello.
do yall think itd be safe to remove the standard(stock) Internet app that comes with the phone? I use opera mini atm and soon ill be using fennec. could there be any adverse affects? the only thing i could see changing would be that the phone wouldnt question me as to which browser to use...(i dont like setting defaults. prefer one app to do a job)
thank you thank you
edit: removed... with no issues(so far)
It looks like a security researcher found out the use for this app.
Try searching this in Google: "Carrier IQ: Researcher Trevor Eckhart Outs Creepy, Hidden App Installed On Smartphones"
Essentially, it records every website you view, and every key you press on your Android phone. Even if you are on SSL, on WiFi.
Since there still hasn't been a rom specifically for the Optimus T yet (even though the optimus one roms work), I figured I'd make one..it wipes data, so backup your apps, and it wipes dalvik-cache, so the first boot will take a while, it'll sit at the LG logo for 40 seconds, then at the flashing android for 3 minutes. Every boot after that should be about 40 seconds.
What's been done so far:
Overclock kernel built from drellisdee's source-you need setcpu or overclock widget to enable it
ext2/3/4 removed, debug removed, optimised for the msm7227
tmobile boot animation removed, noatime & nodiratime added to mounts
Game demos, tmobile apps, drivesmart, gmail, facebook, and twitter removed
Quick Settings added (for easy wifi tether)
Gingerbread theme & keyboard
3d Gallery from cyanogen
Updated Market & Maps
Updated hosts file to block ads
LGHome replaced with Launcher Pro
Deodexed
Built from v10l-wifi calling enabled
Jit & Hardware Acceleration enabled
Dalvik heapsize set to 40
Stagefright disabled (I know it improves quadrant, but it also keeps some videos from playing, and I want everything to work out of the gate)
Probably some other stuff I forget
What is being worked on:
Nothing, I've completely lost interest in this phone.
For screenshots or to download it click here

Could you please port a full gingerbread theme ? I really love it.
I'm using void right know and I only managed to get the notification bar black + gingerbread icons.
As a comment to your ROM:
Try replacing the boot animation with a static image. I think the device will boot faster.
A ROM like that for the Optimus One will be great...
Anyway great work !

I've been going back & forth about the boot animation...I really like the way it looks, but it does seem to add 5-10 seconds to the boot time (maybe a lot more on first boot)
It's your ROM, you have to decide, not me/us. I thought that it would be better.
Any news on the gingerbread theme ?

While it's still in beta & unthemed, there's really not much need to, it's the default launcherpro setup with the ugly wet leaves background...I'll be working on the theme today (just saw the gingerbread theme, I kinda like it, I think that's what I'll go with), when it's done, I'll post screenshots.

Since optimus one roms work on the optimus t, the same thing probably works in reverse...either way, I don't want to release roms I can't test myself first, and I've seen some of Noeljn's work on the optimus one, and I don't think I can match it. But thank you for the compliment though.
THANK YOU. i WILL GIVE IT A TRY! SORRY KEYBOARD BROKEN

Thanks, but I still think your roms are better, I just wanted there to finally be one that said Optimus T.
Have you destroyed your notebook ?
Have you got the Gingerbread theme to work ?
I was wondering about this change, "ext2/3/4 removed, debug removed, optimised for the msm7227" Debug removed ??? Also why did you remove ext2/3/4 ?
You have copies of some aps, you had calander 1.0 and 2.2(I think one is the widget though), Car Home 2.2 twice, etc. Check your work.
Some ideas I wanna throw at you I like from other roms
Extended APNs
Patch hosts file
Gapps removal (Get it down to the essentials, gmail, maps, I know there are a lot of gapps that can be downloaded later so it is more customizable to the user)
Video Camera Edit (Maybe try 720p ? Auto focus on video recording ?)
Remove more bloatware(Drivesmart, Facebook, ThinkFree Office, Twitter, Telenav GPS Navigation, Visual Voicemail, 3 Voice aps, youtube(Offer Drivesmart, Thinkfree, Telenav and the 3 voice aps as an optional zip, you can get rest from Market)
Maybe get some ideas from Cyanogen ?
I would wanna develop some stuff but I don't got time =\
Can you exchange the stock Gallery with the one from Cyanogenmod ? That one is extremely fast.

All duplicates are other parts of the program, there's carhome, carhome launcher, calendar, calendar provider, calendar widget, etc.
I think I did patch the hosts file, I can't remember now.
Video edits aren't something I'm good at.
The reason I didn't remove more bloatware at first is because I wanted opinions on what should be removed, on my phone, I remove everything, but I don't know what other people like.
I'm hoping to have beta 2 released tomorrow night, with the boot animation gone, dalvik-cache moved to /cache automatically, and the theme done other than the dropdown menu (if someone else wants to fix it they can, I hate theming & I'm not spending anymore time on it.)
Excelent. I can't wait to test it. Can you please answer my question too ? (about the Gallery, one post above)
Thanks !

that looks awesome. i'll give it a shot a little later, after i get back from the grocery. nice job and the effort is appreciated ^_^
Im 35% dl, will try to install in a couple of minutes.
Installed great, great rom, a bit of lag (but I did not wipe data and cache). Nothing too special about this. I love the battery notification. I flashed this successfully from steel droid.
Another thing is this topic should of been posted in android development section.
don't believe i have enough posts to post there and i was not sure were to put it
Good job. I have not done it yet im just very cautious about stuff waiting to read more of what people are saying before I jump in. Im mostly waiting for the on rom that claims to be really fast. Those are the rom that I like. But I always try out most of them.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Almost all roms a blazing fast on any device I've had, but what makes them slow is all the apps I download and just forget about. Or when I don't clear all of the data and cache.
What file did you edit to get the thing bar that says, "ongoing/no notifications" black? I can't find that damn thing.

Don't hold me to it since I haven't pushed any of the image files I made back to the phone yet to see but I think in systemres it is "zz_moto_title_bar_bg_bottom"
Oh man, this looks sweet. The grey/black theme really caught my attention, as it will go really well with my venom loadout. I really need to learn how to make roms! If my shift tonight is slow enough, im gonna get started on learning.

I'm also dying to find out what was edited to change the "ongoing/no notifications" bar thing to change. Can't for the life of me find it.
So Far so good! Liking the theme.
Awesome Themed Rom. Really liking the grey and white. It looks so much better than the stock blue. Keep up the good work.

i am working on one that has all the bloat that i can put in it Then you can just take out the stuff you don't want with TB or a program like that
I am trying to do some customizations. On my previous phones (Droid 1 and Droid 2), even with stock firmware, I was able to use ROM Toolbox Pro to replace the icons.
Well, on the Droid 4 it mostly doesn't work. I was able to replace the ugly ADB Debug icon with a better one, but I can't replace the signal, Wi-Fi, battery, etc - it reboots the phone and the old icons are still there.
I made a backup of the original icons, and the folders show: com.android.systemui/res/drawable-hdpi, and they have names such as stat_sys_signal_1.png
I extracted framework_res.apk and am literally unable to find these at all. They have a similar ones, but the icons in question are NOT there, I scrolled through all of them to check. None even named the same thing. I poked around in the rest of the system/framework folder, finding nothing of use.
Does anybody know where the heck these files are stored at on the stock firmware? I swear I've heard of a blur_res.apk before, but again I can't find where that might be. If I find them, I should be able to just inject the customized PNGs on my computer and overwrite the file on my phone...

Wow! I actually didn't know that there was an app that could change the phone's icons. That sucks that it doesn't work well on Droid 4. Just to clarify, are we talking about the icons in the notification bar? Like the battery power level, wifi indication, etc?
Well anyway, I'm not sure where the actual icon files are located. I've always used a flashable mod to change those icons, or gotten a custom ROM. But, if you want to know, I'd try and contact one of the Droid 4 developers on here, like Hashcode or myfishbear. Maybe shoot 'em a Private Message or something. They do a lot on here, but maybe you'll get a response out of them.
Sorry I can't be more help. Just wanted to give you a reply since nobody else is showing you any love. Good luck. Let me know what you come up with.
Yep! The app is called ROM Toolbox, there's also a Pro version (I think you might need the paid one to do icon changes)
I used it quite a bit when I had CyanogenMod on my Droid 2, as the default CM icons were ugly. I'll try PM'ing those guys and see if I'm able to figure anything out. Thanks.
And yes, I am talking about the notification bar. I call it the status bar, but same difference.
