Nice improvements but if OTA doesn't work on a rooted device whats about rooting again after unrooting to update?
Anyone tried it? I want this improvements but root is even more important to me.

isn't work even on non rooted phone. OTA i think will be later...

I used the LG Mobile support tool to update my rooted phone. Even though it said it would wipe everything it didn't. I would recommend backing up just in case though.
It will unroot the phone, so you will need to follow the root guide again from scratch to regain root.

Does LG check their updates before releasing them? Why do they provide an OTA update that doesn't even work?

i think they have worked on cpu and gpu's voltage... less overheat, better battery life while surfing the internet with wifi, good improvement in games (i tried shadowgun thd and dead trigger thd), no more big lags... I think they have reduced the minimum level of brightness....
good work by LG

i didn't install ota root keeper; my phone was rooted and after the update is still rooted....

Those benchmark programs give different results from test to test, depending of what we have running on background, if bluetooth is on or off as well as the wi-fi...
Minutes before I run the test with bluetooth on, wi-fi on and accuweather running and the result was around 4800, after I froze the accuweather, turn off the bluetooth and the wi-fi, I have a result of 5195.
I have 13 apps installed on the phone, maybe some of them are partially running in background, trying to accede to internet whatever... and not only that. Every time I run the test, one after the other, the results are worst, what makes me think that the CPU getting hotter with the task can't work so fast, what is normal.
Probably the free space that the device has counts too...

Help me please. I tried to update my P880 with OTA and i got an error. Then i tried to update my phone with the LG MOBILE SUPPORT TOOL. I installed everything right but after 10% the update processes just aborts. I live in germany and use a euro open p880.
Many thanks in advance.

I got the update too. Only thing it says is update from OE2 to OF3. Still 5.0.2. I don't notice anything else.
I'm holding off taking this as I suspect it will break ping-pong root. Wife is taking it now on her 925.
Edit:
Kernel date on the OF3 ATT update is June 18, so well after the May 15 cutoff date for the patch. It should be assumed that the ping-pong exploit will NOT work on this update, unless proven otherwise.
I was holding off on this update because I was planning on rooting today. I woke up this morning to the phone updating on it's own. So much for rooting.

active is getting it too! hopefully this fixes the memory leak
Do we know if it does in fact wipe root?
This update seems faster. Well, it probably is because it's a newer kernel but it's not night and day.
The one change that is obvious is the signal. I have had no signal in my town for the past month, others have said the same and there are some threads about this issue.
I don't have any signal problems now (so far) so that's a good sign.

My first 30 minutes seems like it's much faster too. I only waited 30 minutes to post this cause I usually don't make it past 5 minutes before it slows down. So far so good. Going to hit the upgrade button on my wife's S6 now too.

Ya, nothing really important for me
I'm using stock unrooted now and (thus far) it has fixed some of my biggest annoyances. UI is much smoother (but I'm not using TouchWiz anymore), standby battery has been non-terrible, and I haven't had any huge memory issues. With that said, these things don't always crop up in the first few days.

Well I was getting huge battery drain from the HD Voice option being selected on OE2. I just checked and when I went back to stock it enabled the HD voice again without any big problems w/ battery life.
Update- the ear piece sound much better for calls, but a lot of people I talk to say I sound a lot worse. Wanted to see if anyone else has similar feedback?
I turned off "enhanced 4gLTE" for HD voice and everyone says I sound much better. I don't live in an HD voice area according to the coverage map, so I don't know if that matters

Battery stats, share your stats

I am having some issues with battery life, so I wonder if any one else has same issues.
I already did factory reset my phone twice. I observed that it has great battery life for the first day. After one day of usage it simply doesn't enter deep sleep.
When I look at stats It shows all time awake as you can see in the screenshot

I'm having good battery life. Most often two days usage with 5-6 hour screen on time.
What apps are under the list of apps that use most battery? Something must be keeping the device awake too much. Unless you don't listen to music or anything with the screen off.
Mostly it is Android OS with big list of services. I wasn't able to find one specific app.

I had the same problem with deep sleep after the B153 update. It kept awake 80% of the time. After 10 days, I switch from "Smart" to "Performance" mode, and strangely now I have no problems with the phone staying awake, and have great batterylife once again.

There are more updates to the Chinese version..they are on build B160 whereas UK still on build B144.
Some other features like dual SIM should work however I haven't tested this.
Other things like build in virus scanner, permissions manager and also the ability to set the date of your mobile data plan to help keep track of data usage and allowance.
Pressure sensitive screen is also featured although not yet used in any apps but maybe it will be enabled soon by Huawei

I just got an update today OTA to QA1. The battery is now draining while on the charger! There is nothing on the AT&T sites about it and when I googled it the only results were for the Verizon QA1. Anyone know what it is about? The update ran by itself so I could not even stop it or say remind me later.

If you want to completely disable OTA updates its really simple, and it works on all android versions:
simply connect your phone in USB debugging mode and use ADB to kill the updater:
Code:
adb shell pm hide com.ws.dm

After a couple of reboots, the animations definitely seem smoother. Other than that it feels about the same as Oreo. Minor changes, but better than nothing.
One thing that is fixed for me at least, is the location coming on even after I turned it off. Before the update the location was basically on all the time.

Do you remember how big the update was? I had put my phone on the charger for the night and it woke up the screen that a download was available. When I clicked install, it rebooted and hung for a while on the AT&T logo. It finally booted up and the software info is correct. It must have downloaded the actual update in the background. Oh well, maybe a few bug fixes, but so far I can't tell any difference. Almost seemed like a security update.

Another observation: I used to have issues with WiFi calling dropping in and out in certain areas of my house. I used to think it was coverage but I have 3 Google WiFi pucks in a 3800sqft house. After this update though it hasn't dropped once. And since my location issue is fixed my battery life is back to normal. 61% left with a 2:30 hours of sot

WIFI scanning for foreground apps is crippled in PIE. 30 seconds between scans and no option to whitelist WIFI scanner apps.
Battery life is greatly improved for me (25% longer lasting so far) but auto-brightness does seem to be quite a bit more aggressive. Phone feels much snappier, too. Camera responses, especially when zooming/toggling between lenses seems improved.
This could be an AT&T app I haven't disabled or something else completely, but since the update I no longer receive any notifications when my phone is connected to my car's bluetooth. I get what looks like enhanced Android Auto experience (again, could be just update to AA app) when using Native Android Auto in my Civic. Notifications [I do get these when phone is plugged into car/AA is active] and navigation in general are much snappier and appear in a more crisp and desirable manner.
The only issue I have with it so far is that I no longer get notifications while I'm in my car (again, maybe unrelated to the Pie update). Otherwise it is behaving almost like a new phone again like it did back in October, or maybe even a little faster.

Next is the Unlocked US version I hope. I'm going to see if I can keep my unlocked bootloader when I flash over to it.

Is m31 better after updates or worse ?

I have m31 for a week now, software updates are there but didn't download them yet
If anyone have done so, is the update stable and making the phone better or just wasting ram and battery
I am running on the latest update as of 2 Aug, 2020. If you are running on the same firmware which comes pre installed then you should update because most bugs have been fixed which were occuring and phone overheating problem while charging has been reduced a lot for me. It is definitely better after all updates.
August update

I have updated it and is as same as one ui 2.1 just an update of sos facility in messages . I didn't found any update in camera just night mode quality increased.
I just found it as a wastage of 984 mb so i am waiting for update of one ui 3.0.
Pros :-
Night mode is better than before
Sos messages facility
Split keyboard in landscape mode
Cons :-
Waste of 984 mb data since my daily data is completely exhausted
Sometimes play store crashes
Just the ar mode too lags and finally crashes
If you just want to say to everybody that i have a new one ui 2.5 update haha then you can download it and waste your data....
Sorry if someone feels bad with my words, i just wanted to tell that nowdays system update is just a joke either they start making the phone hang or is just useless. Sorry for my frustrated language.
I will definitely tell if i find something useful in this update.
Waiting for custom os since they are faster. When i updated my phone it took a long time but custom os install faster than stock os i.e the os prepared by mobile companies. Thanks for xda.
Regards
Chaitanya
Samsung m31
I updated in hopes CA is activated, but alas not yet. No 4G+ for us yet
Lucky. For us (Europe) it's still in Feb 2020 and OneUI 2.0.
