Could somebody help me please... :fingers-crossed:
I have installed Android version 4.0.3
Baseband version: I9000XXJVU
Kernel: 3.0.8-NEO-3.0.TeamCSSGS-257174-g197c9a1-dirty
Build: GT-I9000-user 4.0.3 IML74K eng.onecosmic.20120204.223407 test-keys
I would like to avoid phone wipe if possible, just upgrade this version with right ROM. Could somebody help me please?
Or maybe suggest me the best working version right now - because in this version i really miss SD card / cant access it and its working slow...
Thanks in advance! :good:
Install titanium backup from playstore and upgrade your Rom the way you like. (after backup all data and apps) For most of the Roms it is recommended to do all wipes before flashing a new one. Only a few Roms with ota features support no wipe flashing. Maybe you wanna switch to slim Rom? Very stable, fast and customizable.

Hello,
I need to update my Galaxy S to a custom ROM... I am very new to the flashing process. So no idea on what basis I should select ROM for my phone. I am looking for a ROM which can provider me some rich UI experience as I am bored with the UI which I have now.
I have looked for Darky's ROM and Amestris...
Please let me know if should go with any of these or there are any other ROMS which I can consider?
Model: Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband version: 2.6.35.7-I9000DDJV6-CL198883
Build: GINGERBREAD.DDJV6
Thanks,
Guru
My friend use darky's extreme edition 9.5 which is pretty decent
Hybrid 4.0 is very good
try supersonic sp4 i am lovin it
I am currently on :-
Firmware: 2.3.5
Baseband version: JVT
Build: GINGERBREAD.DDJVT
and i am having great experience.
Check my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142499
Cyanogen 7.1 stable.
You'll hardly find any other rom that offers so many customizable options like this one.
After, replace stock launcher (ADW) for Go Launcher Ex.
Thanks a lot for the responses guys !!! It really helped...
I will look into the options will choose accordingly...
Thanks,
Guru

Try to use Darkys 10.2.2.

For video guide about flashing custom roms visit http://www.hdtechvideo.com
Why not try standard jvt on custom kernel, try different themes, try different launchers (I use spb shell 3d, very different!)
Then create backup, and try different roms until you are happy, can always go back quickly using backup

Hi all
I have recently rooted my GT-N7000 using GalaxyNoteRoot found on rootgalaxynote.com
I first installed a ClockworkMod Recovery and ran a backup.
After installing ROMOW V1 ICS by MOWMO I found that I lost a lot of functionality and wanted to restore my original ROM from backup.
However when using CWM it usually hangs at Checking MD5 sums... and will not complete. I would really appreciate some help restoring my device, Is there a UK STOCK ROM out there? Or some way to use my backup?
My phone now shows as Baseband version: N7000XXKK5, Android version: 4.0.3, Build number: ROMOW V1 ICS by MOWMO
Many thanks J

Worked for me too, Thank you so much
Hi guys,
I recently got a n-7000, but before I read all the threads with the issues, that you can brick it and stuff I rooted it and installed Paranoid Android v 0.5 with a CM9 on 4.0.4. Needless to say all the S-pen apps are now unavailable and what I have is a bigger S 2. I love it and all don't get me wrong, and kudos to the developer for such a great hybrid, but I'm interested in the stylus as well because for me this is a replacement of a tablet.
My baseband is N7000XXLA3
Now I want to change my version to [ROM ICS404 LR6 08-8-12]~CleaNote 5.00~stock~root~NoteCore~Salty Snake edition and I was wondering do I just flash it over? Do I go back to a stable GB? What is the best way to do it?
I apologise before hand for any tech mistakes I made as I am a noob and thank you in advance for all the help.
When you are moving from different base (CM to ICS), I recommend to flash pre rooted GB ROM first, wipe cache, delvic cache, data and then update to newer ICS based ROM using CWM. This is safest way.

Hi is it possible for me to update my Samsung galaxy tab
Model: GT-P1000
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband version: P1000JXJM2
Kernel version:
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Build number
FROYO.JPJM5
You will install Kies on your PC before, And put your Tab connect to USB. Well you can update via Kies.
sorry for my bad English
Good luck
hi there are no updates available thinking of rooting it but have no idea how and if i can do it with my tab i want version 2.3 or later
makes restock rom, recommend the "GB_Stock_Safe_v5" from overcome
and download your latest version (same region) from sammobile.com then flash it
Maybe you must to un-root your tab but I'm not sure that make you can update.
Warning all your data will be lost.

Yes there are plenty of ways to update your device.
You can simply install Samsung Kies, connect your tab and update to official gingerbread (2.3) or you can install a custom GB rom (Overcome Rom).
You can also choose to install ICS (4.0) or JB (4.1), various flavors like AOKP, CM9, CM10 etc.
To get started on custom GB or any other custom rom you should first root/stock your device using the Overcome guide/rom. The original thread is Here but the links are down so you should get the guide and safe-restock/rom files from the mirrors here.
Everything you need to do is included in the guide. Once you have installed Overcome rom you will be rooted and have a custom rom/kernel, from there if y0ou want to go up to ICS etc you simply put the rom on your sdcard, boot into recovery and flash the desired rom.
For me better upgrde to overcome rom..its more stable and have native 3g call..

I would appreciate knowing if someone has installed Android 4.0.3 ICS on a Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000, and I would like to get their opinion on Android 4.0.3 ICS for the Galaxy S GT-i9000 ?
Does the Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 have enough RAM for Android 4.0.3 ICS?
Thank You
Hello
I think yes, but a really long time ago. Now the Galaxy S works pretty well with Android Kitkat. Take a look at Slim Roms and CyanogenMod roms
I use Slimkat and it works really well.

To avoid bricking my GT-i9000 I would appreciate knowing;
MODEL: GT-I9000
BUILD NUMBER: GINGERBREAD.XXJVU
FIRMWAREVERSION: V 2.3.6
BASEBAND VERSION: I9000XXJVU
1.) Does any ROM I want to install on a Baseband Version I9000XXJVU have to be JVU.
2.) Can any JV Rom be installed, for example a JV4 Rom?
3.) Can a JW4 Rom be installed on a Baseband Version I9000XXJVU ?
4.) Will the gapps-kk-20140105.zip install with a cm-11-20131203-UNOFFICIAL Kit Kat 4.4-galaxysmtd.zip or a cm-Mackay_ROM_4.9.14.zip?
ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_GT-I9000.zip
cm-Mackay_ROM_4.9.14.zip
cm-11-20131206-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd.zip
cm-11-20131203-UNOFFICIAL Kit Kat 4.4-galaxysmtd.zip
Can these Rom's be installed on the Baseband Version I9000XXJVU.
Thank You.

I think so, as basebands typically come with the rom firmware.

As long as the firmware package is specifically for I9000 only[/] then it can be flashed.
I believe JW4 comes with its own modem.

As long as both roms don't already come with Gapps packages built in the rom, the gapps you have will work on either.

Yes - unofficial roms tend to come with JVU bundled in by default. Even if they don't this can be easily changed using flashable modem files in the development section

Do I have to install the gapps packages with the Rom's?
There are a lot of google apps on my phone I do not want or use.
Can I update my phone with just a Rom, and then use firefox and
install my own apps?
Thank You

You don't have to install Gapps but without them you won't be able to use the Play Store to download apps.
Of course, if you don't need Play Store either then you can juse use a rom without any gapps and sideload any apps you need.
In case you do want Play store but don't want any other apps, I'd say this Gapps package is worth a look
