No you won't lose sim-unlock if you root or unlock bootloader.

Hi,
I had a Network unlocked and S-Off HTC AT&T Vivid.Which was on 2.3.4 and i update it to ICS.Now to my surprise got " Network Relocked ". I have a unlock code but it doesn't accepts.i meant when i inserted a non accepted sim-card it asks for a code and upon entering it reboots and again ask for a network unlock key.I unlocked it's bootloader and it is S-Off.
Can someone help me out of this issue.
Regards,
NouB..!
Have you tried the developer's sim-unlock method in the general section? All you gotta be is s-off and since you are I say give it a shot.
Wrong section btw..

I got a HTC Vivid which i can not get to sim network unlock. It was origionally ATT but now im trying to use it on StraightTalk with their bring your own ATT compatiable phone. I am not a noob ive rooted s-off and flashes many many phones but this ones got my stomped. I have done the fallowing below.
1. Called straight talk, they gave me a unlock code but phone shows network unlock unsuccessful.
2. Called ATT which they said the phone was to new and was unable to give me a code.
3. Searched all XDA and tried the VERY few things i could find with no result.
4. Purchased a Unlock code from a site online with good reviews... FAILED... they refunded money was unable to unlock phone.
5. Purchased from a 2nd, 3nd, and 4th site unlock codes. Of the 4 sites they supplied the same 2 codes. 3 out of 4 have refunded the cost. Waiting on 4th, they had a tech looking into it. No responce 6 days now, emailed and got only a automated msg.
6. Setup a Skype Phone number in Paris France and called ATT so it would appear i was overseas. They still wouldnt unlock the phone but was able to open a case and esculate it from customer service to they supervisors. 3 Days and no reply... still wondering.
So here I am does anyone have any suggestions or things I can try? Im beating my head on my desk thinking WTF... i dont have ATT so unless i can get it unlocked im stuck with a phone i cant use.
HELP!!!

use the sim unlock guide here in the forums. i think all you do is flash the zip in fastboot. have you tried that?
I tried one that u downloaded a file and flashed, result was a constant reboot had to reflash rom. But ill look tomorrow and post results if its the same one or what happen.

You don't need a sim unlock for straight talk...just get the att compatible sim
You just need to add the straight talk apn

Theres a guide in here that I will vouch for, I used it, and have been with multiple different carriers now since, no problems.

Current Phones-
HTC Raider. Stock, debloated, rooted, s-off, sim unlocked.
Sony Xperia Play- Stock, debloated, rooted, s-off, sim locked.
2 New HTC Incredible S. Stock, sim unlocked.
Past Phones-
HTC Incredible S. Stock, debloated, rooted, s-off, sim unlocked. (Dismantled for parts)
HTC HD7. Sim unlocked. That's all I felt was worth doing honestly. (Sold)
Love me some HTC
I agree. The method to sim unlock on xda was successful for me - it doesn't require flashing a file, per se..rather putting a specific DAT file on the root of SD card and then from boot loader choosing simlock.. it errors out but still unlocks the phone (pretty sure its supposed to error out - part of the hack) ..anyway, it was one of the first things I tried on a raider from xda and I've done it on 3 of them now, all successfully. You should try that.

Hey all. First of all i would like to congratulate all the members who own this ultimate device.. i am loving this phone upto now. But sometimes an idea just stucks on my mind to root this phone also as i did with my samsung galaxy note 2. But i am new to HTC and dunn know basics about this phone. I hv searched alot of topics and spend my time in understanding the rooting procedure. Wht i understood is i have to unlock my bootloader and turn s-off. After that i can flash cwm or twrp and start using custom roms
Now what i want to know is if i unlock my bootloader using htcdev.com then would this void tbe warranty fully?
Can i relock the bootloader and make it as it is now.
In samsung we can do this by using traingle away application but im not aware of htc as this is my first device..
Sorry for the noob questions.thanx in advance.

Unlocking your bootloader through HTCDEV will always carry the risk of HTC rejecting your warranty claim. Relocking the bootloader will change the lock status to RE-LOCKED instead of LOCKED (like stock).
With S-Off, you can bypass HTCDEV and unlock the bootloader. You can also change the status to LOCKED. Sequence of events would then be S-Off --> Unlock bootloader --> Flash a custom recovery --> Nandroid your stock ROM just in case --> Do whatever you want

Hi
greetings,
firstly welcome to HTC group.
the process of samsung and htc is different and rooting htc is a bit tough ( do not worry)
Unlocking bootloader from htcdev voids warranty completely
after unlocking booloader your bootloader says UNLOCKED and this is how HTC comes to know weather we have played with the phone or not
and after unlocking bootloader you can flash custom roms you do not have to be S-OFF.
now S-OFF means security off it gives us full access to the system which we do not achieve by unlocking bootloader.
so basically doing S-OFF you get access to all the system files of the phone including radio and all other stuff
and if you successfully achieve S-OFF( not a tough job) then you can get your warranty back by making our bootloader say LOCKED instead of UNLOCKED or RELOCKED
Thats it by this way you can have your warranty back
ENJOY FLASHING
DO NOT USE KYIES OVER HERE
So when i achieve s-off, my device will be unlocked or locked? Bcoz it bypass the htcdev process...
If it will be unlocked is there any way to make it locked bro?
Sent from my HTC One
yes you can relock. but with s-off it will say locked instead of relocked

HI
greetings,
if you do S-OFF first then your bootloader will say LOCKED
and you will have to patch the bootloader and then you can access the fastboot commands to flash recovery and install custom ROM.
and after S-OFF and unlocking bootloader you can make it LOCKED again
HTC generally don't mind if you unlock, I had to send mine back to the official HTC repair centre in England after a bad flash and I got a brand new SIM free phone back., no questions asked.

That's interesting, I have just sent my HTC one to HTC repair centre in England too after a bad flash, I was stuck in constant bootloop on start up screen, bootloader and recovery.
How long did it take from sending to receiving back.

Took a month but that's only because I stupidly sent it via the shop where I bought it who then sent it to their repairs centre in Dublin who eventually decided they couldn't fix it and then sent it to HTC in England so the whole process took a month, moral of the story is, if you bork your phone assuming it's under warranty send it to HTC direct, much quicker.
Good luck

Basically i flashed a boot animation and i stupidly never had a nandroid backup so got constant boootloops, i foolishly not just done a factory reset but formatted system basically I panicked , wiped absolutely everything, spend days trying to sideload a ROM via command prompts but no matter what I done i couldn't get it sorted so sent it off, now I'm ultra careful and always ensure I have a nandroid backup.

I just software unlock my Note 3.
There is a signal bar but I can't text or call it says that I don't a service available. Please help!
Is software unlock really not that realiable?
Do you mean you rooted your phone?
if yes, rooting should not affect anything, if sim unlock,
What is your phone carrier before unlocking?
What is your current carrier?
How you unlocked your phone?
thanks @abofihmi for the reply..
I paid a guy to software unlock my phone from AT&T, he changed my IMEI and there it worked..

Hi.I want to relock bootloader and unrooot my Atrix HD so I can sim unlock my phone for other GSM networks.
I have AT&T version of Atrix HD with OEM Jellybean rom.Is this possible or not?
They say unlock codes doesn`t work if phone is rooted and/or bootloader is unlocked.
It actually works even if the phone is unlocked... Just flash stock jb att rom and use the unlock code....

I am on stock jb att rom rooted with bootloader unlocked.Att sent 2 codes and they didn't work.I thought it maybe because of the phone being rooted and the bootloader being unlocked.Maybe buy a code online from another seller. How many attempts before locked for good.

I will advice you to get a different unlock code provider as the one that told you that is truly insane. Yes you can unlock your phone rooted and/or bootloader unlocked. The only thing that you need to be on stock ROM from att in order to work.
