Hey guys,
I'm used to unlock Android phone by myself. I unlocked several devices with different methods.
Now I wan't to know if there is any possibility to SIM unlock the O4X for free?
Yes, I already used the forum search, if anyone asks...
Best regards.
I too would like to know.

If you bought the phone from an operator (or subsidized by an operator, even if it was from a local store), there's legal implications regarding the SIM-unlocking. I'm not sure how legal it is, and if it's illegal, this thread shouldn't be here.

Dude i gave MONEY for my phone, do not tell me what is legal and what is illegal.
If somebody gave me the phone for free yes it is illegal to unlock the sim or what ever you do to it.
and yes ask YOU MOBILE PROVIDER what should they say about unlocking the bootloader.

You're right, the OP should ask their mobile phone provider, however to say "i gave MONEY for my phone, do not tell me what is legal and what is illegal" is just a crazy argument. I gave money to buy my car - that doesn't mean that I can drive on the sidewalk, run people over or break the speed limit in it.

You can modify the car why not, or at least you must have a choise to modify it

I don`t know how or what software use.... so if you can help me THANKS.
(Sorry for my english i'm from latinamerica)
don`t worry for your answer I understand very well english language.
t-mobile will unlock it for free.
how I do that?
how T-Mobile can unlock my phone? cuz when I buy the phone don't have any sim card so I don`t know which is the operator. when I turn on the pda the screen show me a question about a code... I DON`T KNOW WHAT IT IS.
I try with 1234 and 12345678 and NOTHING is locked again and I have to wait a several minutes for try again and that sucks!!!!
dood
Your best bet if T-Mo won't cough up an unlock code, you may have to check out a service for it. There's plenty of places that can unlock ur fone for a price... it's definitely worth it. Just search around

Just call up T-Mo and tell them you are traveling overseas and need to unlock your phone. They'll give you some sort of code you type in.
Correct me if I¡m wrong. You are from Latin America, so you bought your Wing on Ebay or something alike. If that's correct and as T-Mo does not have service in LAmerica, there's no chance to request them the unlock code because the phone is no longer binded to a T-Mo account. It's kind of odd it was not originally unlocked (I got mine through Ebay and I'm LAmerican too). At this point mi advice would be to take it to a tech shop and have it unlocked. It won't be expensive and once unlocked works really great!!

Hehe, I guess I just had a sales chimp try n sell me. When I called in to get my code. The broad would ask me the question all the time "why don't you want to be in our network" or "want to start an account?" Eventually I had to get crunk with her and say "because I don't want to... 1st amendment " She then asked if I had a t-mobile SIM card in the phone and I told her "no" coz i didn't. She then proceeded to tell me "you have to be a customer with us for 6 months before we can give you an unlock code"
Perhaps I should have been a little more persistent but oh well. I may have had to pay 10 bucks but I got what I wanted in the end hehe
In my case... I no longer have t-mobile service, and haven't had it for a good 6 months or so. My current phone (samsung eternity) has a mic that is going lame that they won't cover - and I always liked my old Wing better anyway. I got excited when I pulled it out and downloaded a new rom for it- and with my new data plan I could actually use IM! Unfortunately I discovered that the phone is not unlocked, contrary to what they told me when I bought it off of ebay...
It's ridiculous that I'd have to pay money to use a piece of hardware that I already own. Why are carriers even allowed to sim-lock phones in the first place? Isn't locking the Average Joe into a 2-year contract enough?
But I digress. After reading all these threads with frustrated regulars and whiny newbies, I guess it's either pay to unlock or get myself a new phone, eh..

Thats why i dont buy phones off of Ebay and really does it hurt that much to pay some extra $ to sim unlock ur phone? anyways sim-lokcing the phones was so that other carriers wouldnt use that device but now...pretty much all carriers have the same hTC device but to there own customized verisons of that certain device
Hello, if there are any ways to change the Bootloader unlock allowed: No to Yes?
Phone bought without a contract, under the SIM card lock is not present works of any operator
Sorry for the bad English I from Kiev
Simply: no. If it says its unlockable, there is no way around it currently unless you live in Spain. No overclocking or cyanogenmod, but there are some great roms that are compatible.
Kiev is a city in Ukraine
And home to very sexy accents. But the spain thing is that telephone companies are required to make bootloader unlocking available, but thats the only country I know of so far. You are likely out of luck.
Are there any ways to unlock the bootloader?

if you status is no then only way to unlock bootloader is to smash your phone then claim under your insurance to get a new phone, and hope the phone they send out a unlocked one

From what I hear residents of Spain can send their phone in to be unlocked, though you cant do it yourself. Several users here have done so. There was some legislation about it being illegal to keep users from doing what they want to devices they own, most other countries are more interested in bowing to corporate interests over their citizens rights.

This misunderstanding of Spanish laws only leads to general confusion LOL
When I searched for this I saw many posts from last year, and so I'm not sure if anything has changed. This is likely a stupid question, but I can't seem to find a straight answer.
I have an HTC One M7, and the screen is literally falling out of it. I want to pull the trigger on a nexus 6, and looking on Ebay I see that the AT&T version is the cheapest. I've read that these are locked, but that (at least a year ago) AT&T were letting people unlock them. Is this true? Should I buy one of these phones can I go to an AT&T store and get it unlocked to use a different carrier? I'm on Verizon and since the status of my unlimited data is always in limbo, the less I have to talk to them the better. I'm aware there is a site that will unlock phones, but if I can do it for free, that seems preferable.
Also, aside from doing it myself is there any place I can get my sim card cut? Someone said that bestbuy used to do it, but the nearest one is a long drive for me, and I'd hate to make the trip for nothing.
in order to unlock an att n6 thats sim locked, the phone has to be 100% paid off(to att). if the person is selling it, it might be, or might not. thats the very first thing that i would ask the seller. if it isnt, id avoid buying it, as it could be stolen. if it was stolen, att will never unlock it for you.

Interesting, a lot of the sellers are re-sellers of used phones, how could you actually check to see if it's paid off or not?

there are a few places online that you enter the imei number and itll say if its been reported stolen or not, or if its been placed on the list. if it has been placed on the list, then every US carrier will not let you use the phone on their networks. but the only way to tell 100% is ro buy it and try it(but i dont recommend this way).
Well, the seller (of the phone I'm looking at) claims it's a clean IMEI, literally in the title, but that doesn't alleviate the problem of finding out if it's been fully paid off, right?

btw..
General Requirements for All Unlock Requests
The device must be designed for use on, and locked to, the AT&T wireless network. (For help see Device Unlock Support )
It must not be reported lost or stolen.
It’s not associated with fraudulent activity.
All the device’s service commitments and installment plans are completed, and all early termination fees are paid in full.
The device is not currently active on a different AT&T customer’s account.
If you performed an early upgrade, you must wait the 14-day buyer’s remorse period before you can request to unlock your previous device.

265 for an A+ condition used phone. unlocked phones are going in the 300+ range, I can get one brand new for 300 and change from http://www.expansys-usa.com/google-nexus-6-smartphone-xt1103-unlocked-32gb-cloud-white-284542/
I recommend you avoid buying from Expansys, check around at least first.

so I've been robbed twice by this service I will no longer use the service I'm trying to get my money back. I've been in contact with these people, he asked me if I got my money back like come on now you would know if you issued me a refund or now they've been playing games with me they told me to install this app some kind of unlocking app and it was a lie it was all a lie but they took my money and now they're refusing to give it back anyone who's experienced this please get back to me I'm interested in trying to see if we can go after them because I'm not the first person they've done this to. no matter where you're from you do business here in America or using American policies you have to buy by the law that's just what it is you're selling a dummy service and that's not right. every time I enter my email to track my order it says server is busy but I know that was a fake set up as well because when I press enter it said the same thing so that's a lie. We need to act as one XDA is an important community and it's members are what makes it thrive. You're not sure about the service don't pump them because you're helping them with the LIE
Just curious, wouldn't contacting your carrier have been a better and a secure choice? I know tmobile unlocked a couple of phones for me after a certain period of time. Also, this website is built so poorly that it screams scam.
I chatted with the guys 1 Minute ago.
That smells like scam x1000 !
Iam using Note 9 Exynos (Europe, Germany,DBT) and we in germany dont have Sim or Netlock anymore.
I asked the Chatguy if they unlock Exynos Note 9 with DBT-"Branding"(Its no branding, it means : FREE) too, and he thold me : "Yes !"....
Totally scam. Realy, you have Netlock in the US ? And do you guys have Simlock too ?
And what if you flash via Odin a brandingfree rom ? Does it unlock the phone ?
Sorry this happened I used CellUnlocker once and they are great. Know it doesnt help your situation but for future reference.

You didn't specify your device in your original post. So, I'd assumed that you had a carrier that provides that service like we do here in the US. My apologies if I gave a "Mr know it all" impression, non of that was my intention.
Carriers here in the US do unlock your phone after you've had it for a certain amount of time. My advice to you for next time is to start a thread here asking people to post their best and most trusted unlocking websites that they have actually used before, before going on your own to some random websites that you don't know much about.
We are always here to help, buddy. Sorry about what happened to you and I hope it wasn't a big chunk of money they've scammed you on.
If you unlock your phone and it is not paid off( you dont own it) and you unlock it through a third party. Then you stop paying the bill for the device then your carrier will black list the phone. You wont be able to use it with prepaid services or other carriers. Once you put a different sim in the device even though its unlocked. The phone will start Burning your sim cards so they dont work anymore. Only thing you can do is have an imei "repair" done. Or just change the csc code to a different country and just never use the original carrier which is easier.
I also totally agree with K-alz. This site does not look reputable at all. Take for instance all their claims like "Official service Even Samsung employees use our service to unlock their phones". Or even the fact you can enter anything you want into their text fields for your phone. Hell, at least the IMEI field should only accept numbers. Looks like a total scam...
On a side note, I had some fun with them:
IMEI: YOU GUYS ARE F****** JOKES
Samsung Model: WHO NEED TO
Carrier: STOP RIPPING OFF PEOPLE. YOU ARE BEING REPORTED TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES. BYE BYE
I do hope you can get your money back, but I would definitely not trust these kind of sites in the future.
Edit: I doubt it will go anywhere, but I just called Samsung to let them know of this specific site using Samsung's logos, and making fraudulent claims. Gave the URL, and the guy I talked to stated he would bring it to his supervisor/manager.
I'm sorry you have had your money stolen from you by a fake service, but I do have to add that this is such a painfully obvious scam, the site just screams fake, throwing money at services you're unsure of or that aren't reputable is never a good idea, stick to proper authorised services in the future, hopefully this is a lesson to others considering doing the same thing, good luck with getting your money back
Not good.

How did you buy your phone? Was it through a wireless provider(Verizon, ATT, TMobile)?
Or did you buy it directly from Google?
IMEI locks normally only occur when the phone isn't paid off or is stolen. If you are certain you are the sole owner of the phone and you paid it off to it's entirety, I would contact your last wireless provider and ask that they unlock you.

No no, nothing like that. I bought it directly from google. But in Turkey you need to register your imei and pay government almost half of the phone If you don't pay it in 4 months they are just disabling your cellular data. So this is why I need to replace the imei of my phone.

Honestly, that sounds like a terrible situation. Even if you're over-exaggerating and it's like 25% of the phone... that's a weird system. Is that on top of monthly cellular taxes or in-place of it?
Either way, I think IMEI was chosen because of the difficulty of changing and it's tied to the phone itself. It's why blacklisting stolen phones works so well; it makes the phone globally unusable.

Actually you are just paying it once when you bring the phone to Turkey. So it's like a global trading tax somehow. I guess this is the easiest way to explain. Each year they are opening it for 4 months. Yes but phone is only not usable in Turkey for now ?
