For starters I have not tried using Thrill Seeker 3.0/3.1 or v21e. I also have not tried CM7, Nightlies, or anything since my transition from Froyo to Gingerbread.
Right now my gripes with Gingerbread are ghost calls and the phone running rather slow at times. However, I do enjoy that I am still able to use the 3D gimmick. As far as the HDMI goes... I've never used it. If I get noticeably better performance by using a Nightly build I could certainly do without the 3D.
Should I switch my software version for my LGP925 from V20p to V21e or something else? Also I just noticed that my Build number is Thrill Seeker 2.0. I see that my Android version is 2.3.5, and my Kernel version is 2.6.35.7+ if that helps any.
I know how to make backups and have done so already. That's also very important to me. I want to make sure that whichever software I use still allows me to root my phone and use software like Root Explorer, Titanium Backup, Superuser, etc.
I appreciate any help!

Update to v21e. That will solve ghost calls. My experiences with CM7 and roms based off it it is that I've had some wifi connectivity problems but a reboot will fix it and every once in awhile the camera has problems. I really like the speed of CM7. It's a lot faster than stock and battery is about the same for me.
Over in the Optimus 3D section, you'll find a lot of great stuff. Thiaiz 2.8 and the promethius project are my favorites. Acuras roms are great for long battery life. If you want to stay on v20p, thrill seeker 3.0/3.1 is pretty great. There's also a non v20p version of you'd also like to switch to v21e.

Thanks for the response. I remember I had difficulty to updating the baseband to v20p, but after some research I got it working. Is there a good place to download v21e from along with a good set of instructions on how to install it? I forget if I can do it straight through the phone's recovery mode or if I have to do something different.
Also I was under the impression that only a Froyo baseband would work with CM7. Is this correct?
The instructions for the Optimus 3D seem fairly straightforward, and I figure that the v21e baseband for that phone is also compatible for the Thrill 4G. I guess once I have it on my SD card I just need to do a md5 checksum to ensure that I do not brick my phone.

If you flash the v21e baseband with the kdz method (check the Optimus 3D dev section, there's at least 2 good guides) its almost impossible to brick your phone. The O3D CM7 nightlies are gingerbread compatible. If I remember right, the Dark Lestat has a link for the kdz and a very great guide with it. Just don't try to flash the kdz through cwm, it won't work since it doesn't flash basebands. Just do some poking around the other dev section and you'll be set. V21e still has great connectivity with att, just set up the right apn and you're good to go.
I'd give you links but I'm on my phone :/

Cm7 8-26 nightly
I have been using the CM7 8-26-2012 Nightly build and it has been running great. I've used almost every ROM available for this phone and CM7 (When everything got sorted out) has been the most reliable and has incredible performance. The RAM management keeps my phone from getting bogged down and it seems to be the most lightweight. It's lacking 3D and HDMI output as of now, but if you aren't using them it's a great choice.

Thank you. I had a huge headache last night and couldn't go on any longer. I appreciate you posting this. I followed similar sets of instructions, but they did not work. I hope this does the trick. Anyway, once I reach step 4 and attempt to install BC2AppSetup.exe I receive the following error:
The only way I could manage to get the BC2AppSetup.exe to install from the Software folder was by editing the host file and adding a pound symbol "#" in front of the line reading "127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com". I did the same last night. Once I reach step 7 and run UpTestEX_mod2_marwin I follow the steps until I hit Upgrade Start. Then I have the following window pop up and it freezes at this point:
On my system I had Avast installed, but it was disabled. I thought it could be the culprit so I uninstalled it. That made no difference. My system is running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1. I also have two laptops. One runs Windows XP Home Edition x86 SP3 and the other Windows 7 Home Premium x64. At this point should I just give one of those a try?
I am leaving for work right now. I just tried it on my Windows 7 laptop and had the same problem at step 4.
After I made it home I attempted to give it another go. The steps did not work on either of my Windows 7 systems, but they did work on my laptop running Windows XP aside from a minor change in the steps. Step 3 says to change the hosts file already. This created a problem for me when installing B2CAppSetup.exe. Not until after I performed that step did I change the hosts file.
Now I am trying to figure out how to root the phone again after all of these changes. I did a reset on the phone so I lost my root. At least I am guessing that's what caused it. What steps should I follow to root it?
I think I found the trick. Everything seems good so far. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22417769&postcount=1

I have searched thoroughly through the various CWM and OC Kernel threads but it's not clear to me if I can achieve having ClockworkMod Recovery and an Overclocked Kernel running on a Sprint (CDMA) Tab without any issues with the GPS or Camera.
I am perfectly fine running the stock Samsung ROM, but want to be able to overclock to 1.4GHz and be able to run CWM so that I can at least be able to do nandroid backups. From what I gather some of these CWM solutions and OC kernels (which may be really designed for Verizon Tabs and not Sprint Tabs) may cause issues with the GPS and/or Camera. I cannot afford to lose those two functions of the Tab.
So for those Sprint owners out there, what has worked for you to get a working CWM and OC kernel without sacrificing the GPS and Camera? Thanks!
apparently this isn't possible? it's a shame...as if a CDMA Tab were bad enough, it looks like the Sprint one is the true ugly stepchild of the bunch.
The VooDoo CDMA Kernel that I just flashed appears to have a working FF and RF camera as well as working GPS.
I'm pretty new to the SGS scene so I may not be talking about the same thing you are.

Awesome! So you are using a Sprint Tab? And you can run Google Maps or Navigation and it locks your location using GPS? I just want to be sure before I proceed down this path, since I've read about some users not being able to get their GPS to operate once they've borked it.
And if you don't mind me asking, how did you get the VooDoo CDMA Kernel on there? Did you first install v4 through SGS Kernel Flasher or perhaps Heimdall? And then you installed v5 through CWM?
Thanks!
Yes, Sprint Tab (I just got it from the most recent woot sale).
Google Maps locked to my location within 20 meters inside of my office, and then dead on my front door just now. I turned my WIFI off to make sure it was really the GPS. I started up Navagation and it showed waiting for GPS for a about 2 seconds before starting with the turn by turn.
I have taken pictures with the RF and FF camera but I haven't tried a video chat so that might not work. When I take a picture the preview does glitch out on the screen a bit but the picture is just fine.
I flashed the latest version directly through SGS Kernal Flasher. I don't have the files in front of me but I just followed the directions in the OP.
The issue that I had was my auto-rotation wasn't working. I found the file to replace in the thread but root explorer wasn't recognizing my SD card until I turned off the VooDoo enhancements in CWM and then turned them back on as specified by the troubleshooting section of the OP. At that time I was able to replace the file to restore auto-rotate.
Please keep in mind that while I am not new to Android I am quite new to the SGS so do plenty of reading and keep in mind that this is just my experience (or inexperience) with it and I may just have gotten lucky.
Also, I do NOT have data services through Sprint, I am using WIFI only so I can't speak to the effects of the Kernel on that.
Good luck!
Thats pretty awesome, atleast we have an alternative until Samsung hopefully release the 3.34 for all G tab owners.

Thanks again. This is really helpful. But from what I understand the latest version (v5) is only updatable through CWM. v4 can be flashed through SGS Kernel Flasher. Is it possible you're not running v5?

Correct. I'm looking at the files now and I used SGS Flasher to do the v4 (step 1) and then CWM to do the v5.zip (step 2). If there is a way to verify which Kernel, let me know and I'll double check.

Hmm, for some reason I cannot get v4 flashed using either SGS Flasher or Heimdall. I first got the latest OTA update (build EB28) before doing this however, so I'm not sure if that is an issue. Can you confirm you were or are on build EB28 (under Settings -> About My Galaxy Tab)?

Sounds like you had EB28 even before you did the flash. SGS runs fine. It says the kernel flashed successfully, but upon reboot the Tab is just stuck at the Samsung boot screen. I cannot even enter Recovery (using Vol Up + Power).
I've reverted to stock and have tried a few times all with the same result (even tried Heimdall and Odin).
There has to be something different between our Tabs that would cause the issue I'm seeing.
After the EB28 update, I have the following:
Hardware version: P100.08
Firmware version: 2.2.1
Baseband version: S100.08 S.EB28
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: SPH-P100.EB28
Unless you have something different in one of the above, I'm at a bit of a loss. I may need to go some alternative route.
The first OTA on my device is downloaded, but not installed, and I'm curious if I should even take them at all?
I currently have the following:
Hardware version: SPH-P100.08
Model number: SPH-P100
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband version: S100.08 S.DJ29
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: SPH-P100.DJ30
I'd like some type of recovery and eventually HC... boy these Sprint tabs, and tabs in general, are funky compared to my Incredible.

I wish I knew more about the tab so I could be a help.
Well seems like I solved my problem. Not entirely sure why, but when I swapped in a small 1GB sdcard I was able to flash this Kernel without issue. Using the 16GB card that came with the Sprint Tab didn't work.

Maybe a format issue? That's interesting...
I had a similar issue with the 16gb card. put a 2gb card in, and was able to flash the kernel and then get into CWM. sadly once I got that far it didn't seem to matter what rom/kernel i tried it wouldn't boot past the samsung logo anymore. So back to stock rooted for now I guess.. Really want to play with the HC port, but not sure why it won't work. Also can't seem to get Heimdall to recognize my Tab, Odin works fine however.
another new Sprint SGT owner from Woot sale here. Also just flashed the Voodoo OC kernel last night, all seems well camera and GPS etc, I have no idea if 3g works as there is no Sprint in my state.
I flash the V5 using a guide I found over on the unlocker site. took several tries before I got it to go, lots of command line stuff and I think I had a few typos along the way.
Another woot sprint tab user here... I also have "KhasMek Voodoo Plus v5" installed on my tab but GPS does not work for me. Well, it has never worked for me even with stock kernel and EA24 ROM.
Any other woot user with a none working GPS straight out of box?
Update: GPS will not lock if Sprint tab is in airplane mode. Even though by the window works for my HTC hero phone but not the tab. It needs to be outdoor in order to get proper GPS signal.
Seen an alpha 3 ICS rom. Can I just download that and flash it over my current rom or does it habecto be done certain way. I've flashed before on my evo but this seems a little bit more complicated

I'd rather go the full procedure they describe within their thread - imho especially you have needs for clockworkmod. Found that to be a quite safe way for me.
I would I just don't have access to a pc. Does ICS run fine on your tablet. Is it worth it
Sent from my SPH-P100 using XDA App
Once you have CWM Recovery installed, getting the ICS Alpha on your tab is not difficult if it's listed as supported in the thread.
Only thing: This is an ALPHA build. That means many things are not functional. The build is aimed at developers/testers.
Having given a shot at it, this build is surely not a daily driver for someone who needs its tab to be functional and reliable. Many of those problems have work arounds however but since the tablet is not mostly used by myself, I did not take the risk of having it be unreliable...
In short: it should work and not eat your hamster... But it is not a fully functional rom yet, be prepared for some trouble... Be sure you know how to go back in case of trouble... and read instructions carefully
If you want a good ICS rom here ya go. FYI!!! THIS IS FOR CDMA TABS!!!
Get rooted and CWM'd via Rodderick's thread in our Development section.
From there do the following (all credit to JT from here on out)
Download http://k.22aaf3.com/jt1134/vzwtab/cwm-recovery-5.0.2.7.tar
Extract the contents. You will have two files zImage and recovery.bin
Odin these two files to your tab while your tab is plugged in to the PC and in Download mode. This will bring your clockworkmod up to 5.0.2.7 which is a must to install the rom I'm about to link.
Next go to this thread
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/11697-rom-cdma-aosp-ics-cm9-build-31-0104-x-2/
At the bottom of the first post download the 3.1 ROM the 3.1 Patch and the gapps files.
Once those are downloaded boot your tab up to normal operations and plug it into your PC again. Now transfer those three files to your tab.
Boot up into clockwork recovery wipe the cache, dalvik, and do a factory data reset. Then flash the 3.1 file first, then flash the 3.1 Patch, then flash the gapps files.
If everything says it installed correctly the only things that won't be working are camera (which it does work in panorama mode) and possibly 3G. (Never tested 3G as I only use wifi).
Can you please post pictures and how can I check which cwm I already have? If I already have 5.0 can I just go ahead and flash? One more thing is this a whole new ICS or the ones going around. Thank you much
So I checked and I got 4.0 cwm. With that said. I don't have access to a pc. Is there any other way to upgrade to 5.0 cwm? PLEASE someone reply with yes. I'm getting bored with this andcwpuld like to try ICS. Thanks

Without access to a PC I think you are making life very difficult for yourself.
You do not state what Tab you have; below I linked to the install for the P1010 only...I did this for reference because you will see it required Odin to flash it i.e. access to a PC.

Thank for the reply. Yeah I know it makes it, harder just seeing if there was a way around it. I'm playing with the sprint galaxy tab. Not much to play with out there for it.
Just got this tab, and want to upgrade it from the crappy Verizon firmware. Would like the advanced features and root, but it must be stable for work and it must do 3G and/or 4G.
Apparently I have to install a ROM that is specifically for the SCH-i800 and not for the P1000? So how do I identify which ROMs are suitable?
I used to use CM7 on my Nexus One and now use MIUI which I think is great. Experiences on either, or some other flavor?
I am aware that ICS is available, but have the impression that it is not complete or stable. So I'd just as soon stay with Honeycomb or maybe lower as long as it can be relied on.
OK message received, there is none.
This matches my research. CM9 is shot through with bugs, and MIUI development is dead. No other contenders.
So I guess I stay with the factory firmware, root it, remove the crapware and set up security.

UGH, thank you JT. I am having a helluva time with this thing.
Trying SuperOneClick, but it does not recognize the device. No one says, but I suspect it depends on ADB. ADB apparently does not have the drivers for the SCH-i800, and I've no idea where to get them.
The Samsung sync software would not install in my XP running in VirtualBox -- drivers failed to install. So I plan on just putting files on the SD in another machine since I run Debian exclusively.
And there doesn't seem to be an alternative recovery like Clockwork or Amon Ra, but maybe I'm wrong.
Pretty much given up on flashing any better ROM, although I know you've done some good work, maybe for CDMA.
I'll check out that more applicable forum.
I also have the SCH-I800 from Verizon and the only ROM that I found that works with barely any issues is the GB 2.3.5 Galaxy Cube 3. You can find it here:

K I rooted last night, flashed CM7.2
Phone: LG Thrill 4G AT&T flashed to CyanogenMod 7.2
Before you guys tell me to use the search, I have! I've been working on this for 11 hours straight now cause I can't use my phone!
1st Problem: After flashing I had no service. (Yes I used search.) Tried adding APN manually, no luck with many different methods. All the other methods possible required file transfers, which leads me to my 2nd problem.
2nd Problem: My computer will not recognize my phone to transfer files. It will charge however. I tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them, etc.
BUT right now I have it open! Yes! Now I just want to know the best files and things to do right now before it won't let me transfer files again. I do not know why it is suddenly reading it so I'm counting on it not being able to after I try fixing everything.
If I flash to a new ROM will I get service back? Should I just go back to stock/unroot? I'd prefer to keep it rooted if I can get my service and everything working.
Thank you guys! I know a lot of these question have been answered and I tried finding them, I really did. But I'm so close now that I can actually transfer files and I just need help! Thank you. I appreciate it.
And by the way I can't just backup because when I flashed to CM7 my original backup got deleted, or just hidden deep away somewhere??
I think u need to change your bb to use cm7. Im not for sure though as i have never used cm7. I would use this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33390433 it is a very good ROM to start out with. Make sure your phone is update to GB before you try this one. After you get comfortable you can go to the o3d and maybe try cm10 jellybean. Good luck. Read read read. It is what i had to do.

I had the same issues. You have to use the Lg - p920 (Optimus 3d) Rom not sure why but it worked like a charm.
I have an AT&T (US) phone - rooted, with CM7 for LG Optimus 3D (P920 instead of P925) running on it - apparently the LG Thrill CM7 ROM doesn't work if you'd previously upgraded to AT&T's official Gingerbread ROM.
Now, the CM7 ROM for P920 has a major echo issue - I cannot talk on conference calls at all without an echo. Also, mute doesn't seem to work.
I'd like to go to a better ROM, or even to stock - but I didn't make a backup (yes, really really stupid of me). I've tried the stock Gingerbread ROM on AcidHazard's site (provided to go back to stock) - that seems to work, but most text is missing - font problem maybe, but I don't know how to fix it.
I've tried the Biohazard ROM itself, and it never booted.
Apparently CM10 milestone/nightly for the Optimus should work on my LG Thrill, but before I do so - has anyone tried this? With what results? Alternately, any other ROM I can try?
I've not been able to upgrade to ICS using the LG support tool - hangs at 4% and all workarounds listed on the internet don't work for me. I do have the official kdz file - backed it up when the LG tool downloaded it - but the LG flash tool isn't able to detect my phone.
I know - this question is asked lots, and I feel stupid asking it - but I've tried most everything that google search threw up, without success. I still have clockworkmod recovery installed, so I can copy ROMs to my sdcard and flash them. Suggestions, please?!

The first line in that guide says I need to be on ICS already - I am on gingerbread (or am I misunderstanding something?).
That line is there so people don't skip from GB to installing the custom ROM in recovery (that would give you a brick). The guide tells how update to ICS first.
I'll try out those steps, though the virus check disabling sets off too many alarm bells.
Before I do that really long procedure though, any other ROMs that people have good experience with?

I mainly put that because Defender was deleting the driver file without my knowledge and it was corrupting LG Flash Tool for some people.
Question: the kdz tool says phone not found. Is that the same issue the webserver and 127.0.0.1 address, or am I looking at some other issue before the HTTP issue?
