Non-verizon activation of the droid 3 - Motorola Droid 3

Is there a way to get past the activation screen ,I have tried the d2g method ( tapping all 4 corners in a clockwise progression) and it did not work. I just bought it off ebay to use on straight talk GSM but can't get past the activation screen to flash XT883 radio image, please help

Keep trying the four corner method, it does work. I've found sometimes it is easier when you open the keyboard and do it in landscape mode.

I can say it does indeed work. I'm with AT&T and I've bypassed that screen many times using this method.

My take is as long as your old lady isn't frequenting this thread she's not likely to get past it to your text messages its not a govnt retina scanner but it def keeps most people out. Even if you left your phone somewhere it would be more than enough security to someone who doesn't know what you look like

Galaxy Note 2 S Pen / Screen issue

Hello everyone,
I was so excited to get my note 2 until i came upon the following issue.
I am having a dead zone on my note 2 screen. Whenever I try to write somthing on that zone, nothing is detected. I have to press harder on the pen to make it wite there. And when it does write the handwriting is weird and and inaccurate.
For example: when i try to draw a straight line over that dead zone, the line becomes curvy.
Also when I hover over the dead zone, the pointer moves further away
What is really weird, that issue only happens when i use the s pen. When i used my finger the screen responds perfectly with no issue what so ever.
I tried calibrating gyroscope, restarting, but that did not help.
Anyone knows whats going on?

First tweak/mod you want to do to your N4

Chip in what you would do.
*Rooting doesnt count
I want to get rid of the on screen buttons first and regain full 4.7" real estate.

I would obviously root. Then the first thing after that would be to unlock the bootloader.

I'm probably going to try out stock Android for a while without any tweaks to be honest. I have never done stock android or a Nexus device before so I'll see how that sits with me. After that I expect the on-screen buttons will likely be tweaked somehow since I'm not used to them. Then I'll be waiting for my unicorn swagger with AOKP.
Unlock the bootloader since that erases everything on the device. Then, show my gf how my Android phone blows away her iP5. It's Ok, she's used to it.

I was actually wondering the same thing. I just read a thing over on AndroidCentral on how to unlock the bootloader, and they said to do it before you set up your phone because it wipes all the data. What are the advantages of unlocking it? I've only had a phone where you need to run an app to root it, and another to install a recovery and flash a ROM. I still know how to use adb and such, but I've never needed to use a bootloader.
Tapatalk² from my Optimus V
Underclock the hell out of the device or disable 1 or 2 cores if possible.
What app allows the guy in the video to use those keys? I've seen a couple apps similar but they weren't as polished.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Unlocking the bootloader allows for custom recoveries to be installed, otherwise it will be locked and that means that any programs you have that try to install a custom recovery will fail. I also think that you need the custom recovery to root the device and so you need to unlock for root too. To be completely honest there are no negative side effects (apart from your data being stolen if your phone is lost) and so I would always recommend unlocking the bootloader asap, I've had a few friends want to run CM10 on their Gnexus and I had to tell them that they'd be wiping everything including the internal storage.
I know I'll be unlocking before I turn the phone on for the first time.

Thought my home and back was faulty . It sometimes is less responsive than other times (double tap to get multi apps ) but I'm presuming that's a software glitch

Others are reporting issues with the buttons sometimes not responding, not sure if it's a software glitch, or just a small footprint for the buttons, ie you have to press right on the button and not in the general area if you know what i mean.
Cool I'll relax then and stop worrying my phone is faulty. Big thanks

I would monitor how you go with pressing the buttons, it may be a glitch, but i know when i'm using mine, i am often off the button when i press it, being used to the One X for the last year, the buttons are further to the edge, so automatically i have been pressing further out than the actual buttons are.
I always turn mine off. Just saying lol

The capacitive area is in fact VERY small. Just barely bigger than the Home and Back icons themselves. Precision touch is required and is why I suspect some think its not responsive

Seems that the One has very small area of touch for buttons, so probably not software problem.
Turn on vibrate and you will realise how small of an area we have .. seems the way it's been designed and not a bug . Vibrate assists because you know when your missing now don't have the issue

Only thing I can really think of is on my oldddd Blackberry Curve.... I could set an alarm for the next morning, turn my phone off right before bed and my phone would turn itself on in the morning and my alarm would still go off. When I first got my S3 last year, I thought it could do that too (I just assumed -__-) and I missed my first class hahaha.

Slider keyboard phones where definitely easier to play games that you could custom map buttons for emulators. Unfortunately the slide became loose and sloppy over time and the choice of cases was hideous. My evo shift was a nice phone but the screen was too small and the custom recovery, at the time, wouldn't allow to fully shut the phone down and charge. You could shut the phone down but as soon as you plugged it in to charge, the phone would fully power up. Great phone, but screen too small for viewing comfortably.
