Have been using Captivate for half year...
I would recommend it to people who like to customize while having to look like they are using iPhone...

Thanks, but no thanks. If I want Android 2.2, I'd get a HTC. If I want a working GPS, I'll never buy a Samsung. If I want an iPhone, I'll load the MIUI ROM, or just buy the danged iPhone.

Ehh, been screwed over by Samsung too many times... I don't use GPS too much, but I do like Froyo and updates on time.

I can't imagine that a true XDA member openly recommend the Captivate. We have too many un-addressed issues.

Well, I'm really sorry if some of you guys think my opinion is false...
I will repeat that, "MY OPINION"!!!
I'm not saying anything about recommending to buy this phone,
So please don't kill me, since this is why I post this thing on "off-topic" section.
: In my opinion!
-Once you get good phone by going through exchange process, I think this phone is really handy...
it have good screen quality and fast enough to play any fun games on/off the market...
[[[ I wonder why same Samsung models have different functions? In Korea, where it's mainly creates phone or share the ideas, don't have any problem with the phone... But of course, it's expensive in Korea... There is no 1or2-year contract, which means they are selling it for original price! And that original price is double the amount of US original price. ]]]

Ill admit that I love my captivate. Samsung makes very high quality phones. However, their software isn't worth sh!+. That's why I'm at XDA. If it wasn't for my crappy software, I'd never be a member. Considering I joined when I had an HTC phone that goes for them as well. My captivate just needs cyanogenmod. I've missed that since I destroyed my HTC phone.

HTC has by far the best phones in terms of materials. Samsung is all plastic, I would much rather have an all Aluminium body. LG is...well I think we all know what LG is right now... so they're out.
And don't forget Nexus will be Open Source no matter who makes it! I'm excited about this phone, I wonder what Ice Cream Sandwich is like.

Sure samsung,is plasticy, but, if they change it to a more metallic body the hardware is the best! Voodoo sound, super amoled 2, dual core 1.5 ghz, 4.3" screen, android ice cream, 10 mega pixel camera and I'm in mobile paradise

Hmmm, i still think. LG will make nexus 3. the picture is Fake. i work at google and im hearing buzz inside the office about what will be the next nexus.

why? you might ask, what is there to gain with a quadcore processor?
nothing! but bragging to friends with the fact that their phones only have 1 core and then making outrageous statements that your phone is by definition is 4x as fast as theirs sounds find to me

I think google can't stay with one manufacturer cause maybe it would be unfair for the rest.

Yeah - thats defo not a HTC phone, they would never make such a blunt copy of the iPhone 3g - would have Apple suing them big time.
As far as I see it, thats nothing but a photoshopped iphone 3g/3gs

Yeah, i thought it was pretty bunk that he made a "worlds first" out of it when I loaded the bootloaders onto my phone about a full day before he got involved.

You better be getting a slice of that $40 pie he is selling. Honestly, I think that is absolute garbage. This guy is taking advantage of many users offering what should be a donation service because of the work you and others have done.

Now Mobiletechvideos provides a professional grade, top notch technical service. He runs a business and that's his source of income. We text each other for technical advice once in a while. Even if I wanted to, I could not possibly keep up with his workload and do my own job as a hospital electronics technician. We have a deal worked out where he will eventually buy Rebellos a replacement phone via PayPal donations. He's a guy running a business. I look at the business aspect as a downfall of his ability to support himself with technical expertise. All I'm saying is technically its not a worlds first as Android isn't booted and I was running the bootloaders first.

Lets support this guy....

Basically, Motorola has the chance to ban All New Xbox360s in the US and with Microsoft being a patent troll, I'd love to see turnabout be fair play.

On a serious note, have fun. I'd honestly be shocked if Motorola pulled this one out. For a company with such a history and such integrity, they have the business sense of a low-level pyramid-schemer and are completely unaware of what their customers want.

Guess you don't know that Microsoft is already doing the same thing to Moto over phone technology and is likely to keep Moto from being able to import a number of their new phones.
Turn about is fair play and as of now this is the only way to fight back. If you want to blame someone blame the patent system for not properly enforcing intellectual property rights in the first place and for granting patents that shouldn't be allowed as well. The system is screwed up and this is the result.

Why should they change the design? It just works and despite of what some "design purists" are going to say it's one of the best on the market. Keep in mind when looking at all those concept artworks that they are just that artworks and they don't have to acknowledge all the given limitations that exist in reality.

Since Samsung has been awarded with some patents it may change in the future, but I agree with you, it just works, having a front button to wake up the phone is great.

IMO It's like to keep the "S" family close. Since it's the "S" flagship series. They could always use other design but it'll be a black sheep.

Up to a point I'm just not that interested in how it looks. I want it to do what I want (not Verizon's or Samsung's idea of what I want) & do it right now dependably. Good battery life, easy to handle & carry. That's why I am toting GS4 dev edition with Hyperdrive rom.
