how to make bootanimation
This is a very helpful tool.
thanks a lot
Hi ariadelvana95,
You should really start using the search feature of the forum instead of asking such basic questions.
Google is great too since they make android.
You'll find plenty of resources online..

That will teach you everything there is to know about porting. It wont teach you how to do it yourself, but it will teach you how to make a theme. With that knowledge, porting is easy.
I already did a search and it. Was very gauge...also telling me to self teach is not helpful at all......that is y I asked for help
its not that hard at all.. especially with metamorph now.. check the youtube vids on how to create mm themes

Everything that needs to be said, is in those links. Tutorials, examples, its all there. Theres no need for someone else to spend the time trying to explain it all when its already been said before.
There is a reason to ask for help...Cause Im learning and need help understanding alot of this
I was looking into creating my own applications, I have a little coding / graphic expierience.
Was wondering what type of code are android apps written in.
And if anyone knows of a good guide or something like Intro To Creating Apps?
Don't flame me please...If I knew more than you I wouldn't be asking, and I wouldn't flame you for asking.
Java, although native code is now supported thru a Java VM.
I'd start by downloading the sdk and going through those tutorials

Should be posted in app section but regardless, Here is where you'll find everything you need to learn.
Check out the "Sample Code" in "Resources" for a quick little learning tool.
Oh, and app dev is pure java.
You'll find a lot of tutorials(like video courses) and resources with a couple google searches.
Good luck
Awesome
Thanks guys
Quick response and very helpful, I appreciate it!

Have u tried searching this site using boot animation? I did and came up with a variant of CM's boot up screen. I am using the one where the android is dropping boxes to spell out CyanogenMod. Now I love to reboot the phone lol...

this website doesn't have a section dedicated to boot screens...if it does please link me to the section. I'm looking for a collection of android boot screens all in one place. I don't want to hunt and peck through threads looking for them. I'm hoping there is some where on the internet with some sort of organization similar to sidekick themes for instance.
geezzz, noobs!
You should search. Really.
This has been discussed countless times before.
This website doesn't NEED a dedicated section for boot animations.
What you will find, if you had bothered to visually scan the Nexus One forums, is a sub-forum titled: Nexus One Themes and Apps.
Within there I found these threads:
nexus one boot animation the attached file that you find there is a zip file. Unzip that to your computer, and browse the two folders it contains. That should give you an idea of how they are made.
[Boot Animations] & [Live Wallpapers] Nexus Holiday in a variety of colors more here with preview animations, so you can choose before you download.
{MOD} Bootanimation [Blade, Laser, Blazer] *Six6Sicks* 7/25/10 has a Cyanogen style to it. I like this alot!
After following those above, you should check out: [SCRIPT] Random Boot Animations v1.3 (Updated 2010-04-20, works on CM 5.0.6-5.0.8).
I haven't used the tool/script mentioned here.
But in the first post, you'll come across SAMPLE LIST OF BOOT ANIMATIONS. You'll find eight links to others.
(i bookmarked it. i actually would not have found it if i didnt search)
On a different subject, Live Wall Papers. Everyone loves them.
You might want to make your own.
[Live Wallpaper] Custom Creater 2.6 [SCRIPT] [WINDOWS]

I hunted and I pecked, and look at what I found!?
I'm going to call you lazy.
I'm going to call you a newb.
Don't be offended.
I've helped you alot more here than others probably would have.
You may even get more help. But really seeking, you aren't the first nor the last member wanting help to make their own bootanimation.
The information for this and countless other Android™ related projects are out there. They're in here. You just gotta invest in the time it takes to find them, just as I've invested the time and patience it took to copy/paste all those links for you.
PAY IT FORWARD, help someone else out.
If you find something worth sharing, please come back to this thread and post it.
Some other newb may need it.
Hey, I appreciate that you are trying to help me, but I've gone through all of this. I've been using xda since the original tmobile mda on windows mobile. Searching is nothing new to me, especially on the updated vbulliten version of this place.
This is not a matter of being a "newb" or being lazy. This is me asking a question (in the questions and answer forum) about any websites other than xda that might have a collection of boot screens similar to how the sidekick had a website that had nothing but themes.
I know its "cool" to tell people to search and to call them newbies (even when they hae been members longer than you) but you are completley missing the point of this thread.

How to get started as an graphic artist.
You want to create your own, individual app?You have great ideas how to design an app and will work in a team?
So here are the first steps and tricks how getting started!
So which program should I use?
Photoshop: It's one of the fastest and best program to work with!
But it's high expensive and needs time to know how to use it.
When you have mastered it, you will get the best results.
Gimp: Free and open source. But slow and doesn't have many (good) functions as photoshop.
It's enough for the basics and mabye for your own apps, but it will stop when you'll try to make professional images.
Others: There're still different programs. They don't have a such grand community as Gimp or Photoshop,
but some of them offer new functions that will help you making your work easier.
How do I learn the usage of these programs?
Well, there's one good way: YouTube. Many people made(and still making! - important for actual versions.)
very good tutorials while filming their work. It's even easier than reading pages of manuals or uning the publisher tips and introductions.
But with which tutorial should I start with?
First you should search for Photoshop basics. Maybe you look for one guy who's having a bunch of
episodes which basing on each other and leads you trough the process to get started with your program.
Now you can get specific. Search for tutorial e.g. on how to make app desings.
When you have enough experience it's enough to read trough text tutorials. You can also find good ones on YouTube.
Warning! Making themes for e.g. ROMs need Java knowledge and are more than making a picture.
(This won't be a problem after you dare to try this!)
Search for a team!
It's kind of boring to make themes again and again. Maybe there are group of developers out there who can't desing their own apps as good as you.
One possiblity is to join nikwen's list:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41177866
There're many designers who are interested in joining a developers group and help them.
Now you can make the first step on designing android apps.
Maybe it will be hard to understand at the beginning but when you keep trying to learn you will have the
possibility to be part of something. And mabye it's getting even bigger when you success.
Tutorials will follow!
Great guide. :good:
Thanks.
Im very interested in UI and UX designing.. just because im so bad in xml parsing and coding, so i just can implemented them in my homescreen..
Thanks for the thread.. im looking forward on this..

Hello everyone, so recently I've been looking for custom themes for my xperia.. The official ones found on Google play simply no longer cut it for me. But even with the combined efforts of the mighty Google search and search on this forum I managed to only find a few.
So my question is, are there any websites that contain lists, collections or packs of themes for xperia?
Thanks in advance for answers.
Xperia themes support starts about two months ago or something?
And is not easy to make like old SE phones (sadly)
so there's no good themes at all at this moment.... the better ones need Superuser mod.. and I think (personally) @niaboc79 has made the better ones... but just three xD
So wait or learn to make it xD

I know the support for themes launched only recently i guess i was just hoping there would be more people who would create custom ones, even though it's not a simple process.
Though i suppose you're right, i either need to be patient and wait or learn how to create themes and do it myself ;D.
