Can any one help me to find the best kernel available for Ics rc 4.2 ?
I have tried glitch, semaphore and of course the stock one .
But I face serious issues with battery life . Android os eats plenty of battery and the battery is always dead in 6 hours !
Thank you in advance .

Which version?
I searched around and people are telling that 14.2 led is best !
And which governor should I use? generally I use ondemand and lagfree without OC.

Semaphore 0.9.0 is very very stable. I'm using it on RC 4.2 on SGS-I9000 and it looks like the most fluid at all.Best balance between Battery/performance.

rightly said..RC4.2 in itself was quite laggy..atleast in my observation..i flashed semaphore 0.9.0 recently and suddenly its as smooth as anything..i use smartassv2..
battery life looks good..no FC reboots etc so far! wayyy better than stock kernel.
I'm also using ICSSGS RC4.2 with Semaphore 0.9 (smartassV2 governor), and the battery life is quite good.
Bu I observed that data connection and screen consume a lot of battery. With data disabled, and a normal use, my battery lasts about 2 days. But if I enable data, the battery lasts just a day. And if I use it (check facebook, twitter, reader, that-is-to-say, if my screen is on), the battery is empty in the afternoon.
Do you have your data enabled all the time ? I think this is the component that uses the more the battery..

I have already tried that kernel .
And no data is not enabled all day but for some part of the day.
I know that thing eats battery. But in my battery usage it shows "Android OS" keeps my phone awake. And that is the reason the main reason the battery dies quickly!!

Hello i have just recently rooted my phone on stock 2.3.3 and looking for the best battery life ICS ROM.
It will we good if it was stable and hardly no bugs would be good.
Thanks!
I have CM9 with the latest Devil kernel. The battery seems to be very good! You should give it a try!

How much does it last with a "normal" use? I have the same kernel + teamics 4.2 but i'm not completely satisfied...
Also i'm interested in some others opinions since i have the same OP's question in mind
The best ICS roms regarding battery are 4.0.4 roms. Semaphore kernel works very good too.

I use SmartassV2. I use my phone very much and it still lasts for at least 24 hours.
until now, slimics+kernel stock seems the best choice for me.
For example, this morning:
- 40minutes listening to music
- wi-fi always on
- brightness almost at maximum
- 20 minutes with adobe reader
and only 25% burnt down.
I've used semaphore for a long time, very good kernel though, but the battery life ain't enough for me.

Here is a screenshot from my battery stats. I used my phone almost the full 7 hours, jet only 30% down. I think that is pretty good!
Slim by far. The ROM has literally no bugs, way more features than default ICS but doesn't have any bloatware. Battery life is awesome with default kernel & as for performance, its smooth as silk. Can't say about the others but literally for months I haven't even come close to considering others, there's no point. I haven't even upgraded from my SGS as a result, still satisfied with my phone.

Really? A day and a half? Even on my stock gingerbread battery only lasts around 20hours on normal use.
Ok i know gamers rom v10 is not ICS but im really amazed that it has better battery life than lots of ICS roms. Now im at 50% battery and been running for almost 19 hours.
Its about with normal use i do. And i got 3g or wifi on all the time because im so lazy to restart it when needed
I might try slim because i heard so much good things about in and see the battery life if its better or not.

Slims rom and what kernel are you using?
please share
is there any custom gingerbread rom with bloatware removed and big free ram? and a kernel with OC/UV? plus great game compability?
how about MIUI?
Have yet to find one to best DjangoMouche 1.2.1 its GB 2.3.4 its customized, with different themes to choose from and a good bunch of performance tweaks. everything has been running smooth.
games run well, things load fast
I'm using Gueste overclock v1.8.1 kernel but thats up to choice. i found it works great between 900 - 1300mhz. but above that its rebooted on me a few times.
You could try Temasek's CM7 Rom with it's own kernel, it has OC/UV and all that things.. Run's pretty smooth and stable but i can recommend you to use GO Launcher EX with an ICS Theme :good:

Currently on DJ 1.5RC1 and have to say it is truly magical. The feel of performance, smoothness and speed is just incredible.Always try to experiment with other GB roms and always drawn back to DJ ROM.DJ roms provide many choices according to our needs and customization as we like with transformation packs. So have to say this is the best choice i will ever have:cyclops:
Same here, Django Manouche, currently 1.5 RC1, but I am using latest spica kernel ;-)
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk 2
Hi, this is my first post here. I have been flashing various roms and a few basebands and rils in my quest to get better battery life from my LG Optimus 2x. In the end. Most of what I have done is experimental and I can not say I understand much about versions and combinations. Last night, I read quite a few posts about the Django Manouche rom and downloaded all the three versions of the 1.6, the stock, the Spica and the Gueste.
Flashing led to boot looping on the Spica rom, powering off on the Gueste rom while on the stock 1.6s it ran OK, with some applications not running until I rebooted.
I came from a stock LG rom and was wondering if I need to change the baseband and kernel also, for these to work.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
I think these "best rom" threads are forbidden but I'll give my 2 cents anyway, in case I'm wrong:
for me the best rom is Gueste Hybrid revolutions 3.7, is a hybrid between stock Rom and cm7.2, and symbiosis kernel 1.3.
I get great performance, great battery life, great ram management. I can't really complain, I'm so satisfied that I'm not that eager to get ICS (at least not as much as I was before).
LG optimus 2x, rom Gueste Hybrid 3.7
@daas88. Taking your advice, I have flashed the same combination as you, just this morning. I have been very active on the phone since then, so I can't tell right away, if there is any improvement in battery life.
By the way, I continue to be on the 20i baseband.
I shall report back soon.
Temasek
Probably the cleanest install would be Temasek. A very stable CM7 build. It's sort of finished, and offers a great experience. Use it with Temasek's, Spica's or symbi0sis kernel.
I've tried DM and it's great, but this just feels cleaner.
gl!
I have been reading about the Temasek rom. What is your view on its battery consumption? That is something I am focussing on. The stock LG set up lasts for about 9-11 hours on my phone, with full 3G, about 4 hours of wifi usage and about 1-2 hour of music (Neutron music player). I have a battery pack that I carry with me to work, but it is a big bother.
So, basically, to me battery life is top priority. If I can extend it to 12-15 hours, I am home and dry.
I've used Temasek for a long period of time, and though I don't want to go back to gingerbread (currently on Paranoid Android) I do miss the battery life. With Temasek (or stock CM7) I would get about 32 hours of battery life: a day and a night. This with some browsing, playing music checking e-mail.
Overclocking would lose you some of that time, but the toggle2g app would win it back. :good:

Increased CPU performance, larger screen and stagnated battery technology will do this
As for battery life, I do miss my Nokia 3210!
A small update. I charged my phone to 100% yesterday evening at 7 PM. From then on till now, what I observe is that with the phone in standby mode, the battery consumption curve remains almost flat. But the moment I start using some apps, for instance the Number links game for 15-20 minutes, the battery level drops by 10%.
This is with the Gueste Hybrid ROM and the Symbiosis kernel.
Further update: The battery went to 14% and then I charged it. 15 hours. Some improvement. It may be too early to comment, but this set up seems to work superbly when the phone is on standby. When the phone is in use, the consumption seems to be high. Could it be improved by changing the BB or the ril?

Hello to everyone.
I believe the post title is self explanatory. I'm running a Jelly Bean ROM which works quite well (though not perfect) on my Galaxy S but I have to say that coming from a previous GB ROM, the battery life seems rather poor on this one.. do you know any JB ROMS that have a fairly good battery life? And if so, could you post the link to it?
Thanks
I am sorry but poor battery life is a price that you have to pay for having the most recent Android version in a phone that otherwise will be stuck at GB.
Having said so, I must say that the JB stock rc13 v2 from elitemovil is not too bad regarding battery life

Thanks for the reply even though the truth hurts most of the times ! I suppose Galaxy S3 should be a better choice, soon!
Actually "Jelly Bean" and "Good Battery Life" aren't compatible
Battery lasts 30-40% less on both my SGS III and the original SGS (I keep using it, it's still a great secondary phone!) with jelly bean, compared to their original OS versions
JB is damn smooth, but it won't last a day of heavy use.
Just use GB if you want good battery, and if you want ICS, Slim ICS is ok, but still far from GB in terms of battery efficiency.

What I read at the CM10 forum is that the 720p recording works fine. The problem is with stock player. If you use other player or run the recorded video on your laptop/PC there is no problem!

Tried all JB releases, didn't like all of them, also on my Galaxy Tab 8.9, just a little bit laggy
Might I suggest to try f4k ROM, it's an ICS release and on both my and my girlfriend's SGS it runs incredibly good. It will last longer on a full battery than any other GB ROM I tried. In our cases it makes our trusty SGS's run about 20% longer and it's faster (feels faster anyway) accompanied by the Holo launcher. Rock stable as well, much more stable than the original Samsung stock ROM.
Good luck
Im on the latest Helly Bean and the battery life is a lot right, not the best at all. But I love Jelly Bean so I don't care.

Hi can someone post a link for the best kernel to use with MRom, I tried the Z4_Z3P-DSDS_SK_Perm_v5.11_III.2_4_9_ctl_X_ivy_dual however the moment I flashed it the phone got crazy hot even after adjusting the frequencies also experienced problems with certain apps closing, camera doesn't even last seconds before it turns off, I had to flash back stock kernel to get function-ability. Not sure if that was the correct version for me to flash so I'm asking or if there is any tips to making it work. Thanks :good:

Hi can someone post a link for the best kernel to use with MRom, I tried the Z4_Z3P-DSDS_SK_Perm_v5.11_III.2_4_9_ctl_X_ivy_dual however the moment I flashed it the phone got crazy hot even after adjusting the frequencies also experienced problems with certain apps closing, camera doesn't even last seconds before it turns off, I had to flash back stock kernel to get function-ability. Not sure if that was the correct version for me to flash so I'm asking or if there is any tips to making it work. Thanks :good:

Ok will try that and see what happens, so far i got the best temperature and battery with stock. Will go ahead and flash latest sun Kernel and see what results I get.

So I installed the latest sun kernel yesterday (v2.6), and had the phone running an entire day with it. In all honesty it was pretty smooth I still haven't noticed any bugs, lags, force-closes, etc. The only thing is a slight difference with temperatures compared to stock kernel see in pic (stock kernel left, sun kernel right). I have placed pics to show the differences, as for battery life I haven't been able to compare them as of yet. However I can say using stock kernel with minimal usage over a period of 9 hrs after full charge I got down to 57% so I will test the same with this latest sun kernel. The only other thing I am curious about are the CPU's, reason being with stock kernel the 4 big cores always showed offline using Kernel Auiditor and I can't adjust the frequencies. With this sun kernel it's the same situation. The 4 big cores are always offline and just remain that way at start up one of them becomes active for a couple of minutes with a frequency of 384MHZ then goes offline. Any insights as to why this is so would be appreciated. Any feedback will be appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

See below. The first screenshot was my battery with stock kernel after 9 hrs of minimal usage. The other 2 are with sun kernel after 9 hrs so as you can see there isn't a huge difference. So battery wise its not that bad.
