Hey guys,
this is my first post here so I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong forum.
So i am currently using CM10 unstable (inofficial) on my Galaxy Note from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832751
I read that the HydraCore kernel is better in terms of performance and battery consume (should be lower) so I tried flashing it several times:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789397
Everytime I do this, my Note doesn't boot because after I got the "Samsung N7000" screen I don't get the CyanogenMod 10 Boot Animation, but just a black screen.
What am I doing wrong?
I thought the HydraCore kernel is compatible to a lot of roms, especially CM9/10 roms?
Thanks in advance.
Oh, btw.:
What's the difference between this one:

and this one:

I build my rom with as little self-modification as possible, a few changes thou but next to nothing, my base builds are pure cm10 experience with latest changes from cm10. mnm1992 has some extra stuff included/removed in his builds but other than that its from the same source.

Hi guys,
I own a Galaxy S i9000 mobile.
It's running on :
Android 2.3.3
Baseband : DXJV9
I have not rooted it or did anything till now.
I wanna flash ICS AOKP on my mobile..
I have tried using the search option but still im soo deserted.
Can you guys guide me on how to root, flash CWM recovery, and flash ICS please ?
and Does Galaxy S supports ROM Manager ? coz i've been using Galaxy Ace before and it didn't support it..
Thanks a lot
For Root read this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
You need to download file ending in JVP. Usually you want the one ending with last 3 digits of your baseband but as there is no JV9 JVP is close enough and is reported as working. Besides it does not really matter as you just need this for root.
Once you have root you can simply follow the guide in the AOKP thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524108
I know you have stated you want AOKP but if you want a bullet proof simple way to get this all done start with this thread for Team ICSSGS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
I usually like to make sure I have all necessary files, roms & programmes before starting so if anything goes wrong I can get my phone working again. This tutorial will help you with that also.
After following all of this you should have a good understanding of what to do and then you can flash AOKP as their instructions are kind of limited.
Also when choosing an ICS Rom this is a great thread with regards to performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554621
AOKP is a wonderful choice.
But if I can give you an advice, wait for the next Milestone which is expected to be released over the next few days

That link for flashing Team ICSSGS has help for everything else. From downloading stock rom to flashing with Odin to flashing ics (in this case team icssgs)
You could potential substitute Team ICSSGS for AOKP.

Great
and finally, Which version of the kernel should i use for official AOKP b34? 1.1.0 or 1.1.0s?
Not sure but both should work. 1.0.1s is for slim ics and other roms. If it is not compatible it will break 720 video recording & playback otherwise eveything else should work. There is also a video patch somewhere.

Alright..I've flashed AOKP b34 and Semaphore 1.1.0s
Everything seems to be fine
But now my sdcard is mounted as internal storage and the actual internal storage is mounted as sdcard..is this a bug or what ?
Even when I connect my phone to my PC using USB,only the actual internal storage (which is mounted as SDcard shows up..
I personally haven't 1.1.0 only 1.0.1sbm with slim ics. I think the 1.1.0 is still a test version for cm9 but could be wrong. Things may have updated since i last looked but i recommend reading the semaphore thread and posting there for more help.

Known bug in Semaphore. Make sure you enable the 'Netfilter' module in the app. When it randomly doesn't work, which is the bug, simply check and uncheck it 2 times and it will work.

and isnt it tha tthe 10.1 version has some bugs and 10.0 is 100% perfect?
I won´t recommend CM10.1 and/or CM10.2 because they are not fully working.
I´ve used both of them in the last months and they have some bugs, for example, GPS works very bad for me.
I´m also thinking about changing my rom and kernel mostly because of the GPS issue.
Anyone to recommend?

Yes.
For the questions you are asking, I think it´s the first time you´ll be doing this.
So first of all I recommend you to get into the developers section and read carefully all the procedure of how to flash, root and other things. If you try doing things without reading before, you might brick your phone.
@yasje
You can fin some informations here:

Like @BachuArg said, read first - then try.
Be carefull, do not install I9070P JB on I9070 phone and I9070 firmware on I9070P phone. That will cause hard brick!!!
And do not use Hong Kong firmware, it will be stuck on that firmware.
So.
step 1. update rooted 2.3.6 to official jb?
step 2. download custom rom.
step 3 flash
step 4 wipe data/ blablalba
step 5 tada done
am i right? ^^

No need to change kernel. But it has red border sometime, it is explained how to remove it - read couple of posts later.
P.S. We all want 100% working clean and fast ROM. But we do not have sources to make it 100%. You can try it, and if you do not like it - you can go back to stock.
Explore, read, learn, try... That is what is Android about.
red border ok?
and camera wifi direct and other stuff does working normally? and the rom isnt laggy or slow at all?
nvm i used cocor kernel 8.2 smooth and fast as hell
only i doubt choosing a rom: omni rom or harsjelly?
Hi,
I had CWM 5.0.2.6 and CM 10.2 installed.
I thought I could upgrade CWM to v6 for future kitkat builds, but now and followed the "How to Get it" instructions.
But now both is not working, I can not reach the recovery and CM is also not booting, every time after the Samsung boot logo comes a blue screen.
Hope someone can help me :/
I tried to go back with odin with this tutorial from androidforums (guide-how-unbrick-upgrade-downgrade-your-sga-gt-s5830), but it seems that some driver is missing. I installed kies before, so the driver should be installed.
EDIT:
kies reinstall worked, passed flashing, but now it ends in a boot loop.
ok, data and cache wipe worked
my modifications are gone, but I am happy that the phone is booting again
Same here...
This same thing happened to my old ace when installing a Galaxy s3 rom based of CM 10.2! I could boot in to CWM fortunately, and flashed another working rom. Just be careful, when the bluescreen thing happens the screen on mine also went red. I was very, very scared. And somewhat felt unsafe using ODIN. I mean red is a dangerous color, right?
Also i managed to get the rom working. It needed a EXT4... lol. Maybe what happened to you? Dunno. Stay away from an error you have fixed.
" Be nice to nerds, you may work for one someday" Bill Gates
I do not know that the red color means, maybe someone else?
On my side the blue screen appears after flashing another CWM version and not another rom, my CM10.2 worked with CWM 5.0.2.6 fine.
Ah yeah

It is a great rom. It offers awesome performance, battery and sound quality. Wait untill you try it... NO more things on your to do list!
The best part is it's swap kernel. The ace is far to slow, no thanks to the 280MB ram, so swap helps. Also their is alot of optimizations for our adreno 200 and single core cpu tweaks work amazing! Put it on top of your to do list man!

True, but i try and set it at only use 20-30% of the time. And that's is true, i have seen a massive degree drop in it's performance. Luckily enough i recently got the new nexus 7
Please help me out. I know I shouldn't have done it alone but it was tempting.
I already rooted my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000), and I was trying to install the PhilZ Recovery.
It said on my recovery menu that it was successful, and as I try to reboot my phone it does not show up the Samsung logo like it usually does. After the "Galaxy Note GT-N7000" screen" all it does is enter a black screen. I tried wiping all user data, cache, and Dalvik cache with the PhilZ recovery, but to no avail.
EDIT: It's on ICS 4.0.3
What can I do to restore it back to normal? I didn't flash any custom ROMs or anything, just the recovery. I just got my phone, and I don't want to have to wait to spend for another one. Please help, thanks.

If it's a new phone you shouldn't have too much data on it, so what I would do is just install a custom ROM (There are lot's of them out there for the N7000). Sounds like you can still boot into PhilZ and already wiped the device, so just copy the ROM and necessary files to the phone's SD and install away
You should charge your battery to at least 80% before fiddling with things like that I believe

In Philz main thread there is a topic "Update to all ICS 4.0.4 kernels from 3.71 ---> 3.99:"... these are 4.0.4 Kernels.. Try one of these and check if the phone boots up..
OR
As you have already done wipe data, you may also install a new custom rom like Aryamod...
You wrote that you just got the Note.
So why do you want to stay on ICS and try to install things you obviously do not understand - and risking your device?
Select an JB or KK Custom Rom, follow the specific installation instructions and be happy with your new-born device.

Hmm...
I do want to install CyanogenMod...

Go read the instruction from the rom thread that you want! better stay stock if you don't read or don't understand.

Thanks. I'll have a look at it.
So I downloaded the stable version of CyanogenMod: "cm-10.1.3-n7000.zip"
Is it compatible with the recovery I have?
