Hi,
I had CWM 5.0.2.6 and CM 10.2 installed.
I thought I could upgrade CWM to v6 for future kitkat builds, but now and followed the "How to Get it" instructions.
But now both is not working, I can not reach the recovery and CM is also not booting, every time after the Samsung boot logo comes a blue screen.
Hope someone can help me :/
I tried to go back with odin with this tutorial from androidforums (guide-how-unbrick-upgrade-downgrade-your-sga-gt-s5830), but it seems that some driver is missing. I installed kies before, so the driver should be installed.
EDIT:
kies reinstall worked, passed flashing, but now it ends in a boot loop.
ok, data and cache wipe worked
my modifications are gone, but I am happy that the phone is booting again
Same here...
This same thing happened to my old ace when installing a Galaxy s3 rom based of CM 10.2! I could boot in to CWM fortunately, and flashed another working rom. Just be careful, when the bluescreen thing happens the screen on mine also went red. I was very, very scared. And somewhat felt unsafe using ODIN. I mean red is a dangerous color, right?
Also i managed to get the rom working. It needed a EXT4... lol. Maybe what happened to you? Dunno. Stay away from an error you have fixed.

I do not know that the red color means, maybe someone else?
On my side the blue screen appears after flashing another CWM version and not another rom, my CM10.2 worked with CWM 5.0.2.6 fine.
Ah yeah

It is a great rom. It offers awesome performance, battery and sound quality. Wait untill you try it... NO more things on your to do list!
The best part is it's swap kernel. The ace is far to slow, no thanks to the 280MB ram, so swap helps. Also their is alot of optimizations for our adreno 200 and single core cpu tweaks work amazing! Put it on top of your to do list man!
CWM works despite the bluescreen. Follow this guide to flash roms:

Actually I did not OC at all, I am still at the original 245-604Mhz with ONDEMAND Governor
And how about the font ? I hear from madteam some language chines, japan, vietnamese show [], i worried about it
I am going to flashing this ROM, but now still not, because read this and read problem with front!
AFAIK....there is no bug in reboot situation and i believe no bug fix from squad...i flashed CyanMobile just to check wether i got a reboot problem with so many others, but no...i didnt had it..
before i flashed CyanMobile,i flash stock rom via odin to clean dalvikbyte code error(Squadzone said:-because the write and read on the system partition and the sdcard is weaker because of flashing again and again continuosly without refreshment through ODIN)...in this case i choose XWKTN,then flash CWM...then i flash CyanMobile with full wipe before not after...then flash bluetooth update, just mount system 1st..
And i got no single reboot itself, and just for info...i didnt apply a single tweak not even amarulz......peace
Use a Rom with less bugs. There are enough to choose off.

less customizable and therefore almost no bugs.

I don't understand most of what devs do. I do understand some pieces of code, I know how to do some basic theming, and I can use search engines.
I also know that "she boot" is not a start. Why? Read post#2. It's written by a dev who actually knows more than your "at least it starts?" questions. We already have a CM7.2 that "she boot", but it's very buggy, and not for daily use. If you want it, and "do not care problems, she boot is a start", google it.
EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention why the "she boot" CM7.2 is full of bugs. It's ported from the Galaxy Y as well and even tho "at least it starts" the most crucial features don't work.

oh I understand this is not exactly "a beginning" significant, but for me it is. I asked this question because I have not had time to test, but if any of you tested could say, so I asked the question. If at least boot, it means a lot to me, I'm already anxious for ace ics running on and can not wait for that to happen.
I understand little about ports, I read a lot but never tried that already do not use linux and do not have time for this, but sorry if you enterpretou bad what i said, it was not the intention.

The ROM in the OP will brick the S5830I if installed, so no one can test it unless it's ported, which is useless because:
1- It will even more buggy
2- CM9, even if ported correctly, will be extremely laggy, because the full GPU sources for the S5830I aren't available.
3- CM7 isn't ready yet. CM9 only requires more work.
Dude this is lyk imposible yet v dont have cm7,cm9 is far to go

ever read about the differances between S5830 and S5830i ? well Original device have Adreno200 which it has source code released and S5830i have Videocore IV that is made by broadcom even tho broadcom agreed to share some of its device's source code they denied to release VC IV's code without HW Acceleration its an piece of crap with 1ghz(with rafael's latest kernel) cpu and 300mb ram even Galaxy Y is better than this device because there are some ports that already getting done its cheaper if we compare this device to that...

Good point, really looking forward to something like that..
That would actually be a very useful feature .
Just think about having a fully-packed CM10 build with all the apps and stuff as the main OS , and another pretty much empty stock ROM just for bluetooth and camera . It would be a temporary improvised solution for the problems that are currently in the CM10 build .
However I never did that . Will it really work with such a combo ? Considering we would need different kernels and stuff .

Not now! It is a idea! Its not developed for Mini 2!
i think galaxy y dev knows this and the other rom can be installed on sdcard(stock rom) while the main rom is in the phone(cm10)..and it requires a modified kernel and a script for the 2nd rom to be booted...like activating it via terminal...
To be honest, before we think about dual booting the device, CM or stock or even with Ubuntu now. The question is this: why would you want a device that can dual boot two operating systems? how will it benefit us the end users to have dual boot on an mid range or an entry level device like SGM2 ? even for a high end device like SGS3 or Sony Xperia Z I don't see how will do anything good for us, for tablets maybe but for smartphones I don't see how can that be something useful. (not that I'm against the idea)
I like the idea, but to be honest, there are more important things we need for our device before we get on dual boot... We don't even have devs.. If TheWhisp ever leave us, we're going to be ****ed up and the development for our device would be pretty much dead... So yah, why would you use dual boot when you don't have 2 good roms to boot up... xD just sayin'...
+1 befor dual boot we need 2 good room thanks god we hawe theWhisp

I agree with you. One ROM is enough to be on our device.
There are many confusing articles around about the EMMC brickbug that causes superbricks. I was just looking for answer to a few questions.
1. Has Samsung released a solution yet to fully revive (i.e. revive lost partitions) the device back to normal?
2. Is there an official Samsung solution to get the EMMC bricked devices working again?
3. For people who have revived their devices using the custom PIT method as described by hg42, are people having issues with the phone jamming (needing restarts) despite whatever rom they use? If so, how did you resolve it?

1.) No.
2.) Yes. Bring it to support - the change the motherboard. Costs? Depending on warranty...
3.) You need a summary of all the articles? No luck for you, I'm afraid. Read, read and when you finished - read again.
There are wonderful roms here with brick-save kernels. Use them or use them not.
And last... Why do you post this in General? Ever heard of Q&A-Section?

Interesting way to answer. But greatly appreciated nevertheless. I do have further questions re your answer to 3, but I feel quite intimidated.
Those are excellent questions re the Emmc bug for the Note.
Let me give you my thoughts. For questions 1 & 2, I'm still waiting for a solution but I highly doubt
Samsung will fix it. For question 3, if you use the pit file to revive your Note, then use Official ICS or JB rom
you will end up getting freezes/lockups and maybe boot loops.
I would recommend using CM10.1 as its more stable to use. In the meantime, I'm enjoying my Note 2
and tinkering around with CM10 on my semi brick Note 1.

Why is it that when we are no longer using the areas of the partition affected, with the PIT method, it is still crashing with various roms?
Which various roms crashing for you? I don't really have a good explanation why it is crashing even using the pit file. I think the partition area affected are pretty much corrupted. I've once got the latest JB working for a very short time until it freezes up many times and its not usable at all.
I would like to go back to JB again if theres actually a fix for the freeze up issue. In the meantime, I'm using CM10.1 and its much more usable as a phone with little issues/hiccups.

I thought I should bump this post up a bit.
Wondered if there any updates people are aware of?
Thanks

Got the same issue as lemonbarley, but less space available.
I noticed improvements once i've deleted the HIDDEN partition and made cache afterwards as exactly 128mb.

You mean the fat partition? or the ext one
Just post here any arguable question.... so far was an hell of adventure to fix the samsung.
Sd card
Its strange how these days i spend moving in cicles but today something different happen.
Appears to me that slim rom and anidroid (ics) is a bit different in comparison with paranoid rom (ics lrk)
First two have some compatibility issues. For example, on anidroid, the menu is for galaxy SII, and you cannot choose dpi.
While on slim rom you can do all that, there are screen flickers, like menu distortions, and the camera doesn't zoom at 720p.
The major difference is in how they both partition the space. This was a strange breakthrough today. Moving in cicles until this.
On first two, the phone storage is shared in two (or three) areas. while none seems to be okay on a briked phone. The second, makes the internal sd card as the (external mini sd) main addition to the phone. Why did those two make the internal storage out of the fat32 11 partion UMS. That was terrible.
Hello
I have a problem with my Ace, and I do not know what's going on.
Every few days, my storage clears itself, and I have to re-flash the original ROM via odin.
I have tried ROMs other than stock, but the problem is still there.
It is really annoying, as my messages and contacts are also cleared.
What could be causing this? I am on the brink of throwing it out the window!
Please help

I have tried Cupcake's CM10.1 and mardon's CM10.2, as well as CM7.2 Jellybread.
Hope that helps

don't use too much apps and use performance scripts like fly on mod or pure performance if you see slow performance
also as you use roms like cm 10.1 by mardon and cup cake don't expect them to have god speed {though it is cm}
install apps as much as you can on sd card and leave phone memory and see the change in phone
also do a wipe cache in recovery

Even the stock rom clears itself every day (roughly).
it is fast, performance wise, when it works.
When i say wipes itself, i mean nothing but download mode usable.
