Hy everyone! I read in XDA that have many phone dual boot system (dual boot manager)! It is possible to make this solution for Galaxy Mini 2?
Yes, it should be. Since system and data partitions are large enough. But I personally don't think it is useful (at least for me it isn't)

Easy switch from CM to Stock
Because in the CM 10 not work everything (Cam,BT) so not need to restore stock rom or other custom rom in recovery.

Good point, really looking forward to something like that..
That would actually be a very useful feature .
Just think about having a fully-packed CM10 build with all the apps and stuff as the main OS , and another pretty much empty stock ROM just for bluetooth and camera . It would be a temporary improvised solution for the problems that are currently in the CM10 build .
However I never did that . Will it really work with such a combo ? Considering we would need different kernels and stuff .

Not now! It is a idea! Its not developed for Mini 2!
i think galaxy y dev knows this and the other rom can be installed on sdcard(stock rom) while the main rom is in the phone(cm10)..and it requires a modified kernel and a script for the 2nd rom to be booted...like activating it via terminal...
To be honest, before we think about dual booting the device, CM or stock or even with Ubuntu now. The question is this: why would you want a device that can dual boot two operating systems? how will it benefit us the end users to have dual boot on an mid range or an entry level device like SGM2 ? even for a high end device like SGS3 or Sony Xperia Z I don't see how will do anything good for us, for tablets maybe but for smartphones I don't see how can that be something useful. (not that I'm against the idea)
I like the idea, but to be honest, there are more important things we need for our device before we get on dual boot... We don't even have devs.. If TheWhisp ever leave us, we're going to be ****ed up and the development for our device would be pretty much dead... So yah, why would you use dual boot when you don't have 2 good roms to boot up... xD just sayin'...
+1 befor dual boot we need 2 good room thanks god we hawe theWhisp
That go to Galaxy S2, google play are SGS2 Dual-Boot Setup (LolBoot)? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xMiwibmV0LmhlbGxjYXQuZHJvaWRkZXYubG9sYm9vdCJd

I agree with you. One ROM is enough to be on our device.

Max from rootgalaxynote mentioned something about dual boot in one of his videos. (paranoid review I.think )
Are you sure its not possible
The developer of the AOKP rom (sixstring) said something at one time in that thread (search for it) about dual boot. It is possible, but whenever he can get to it. We aren't paying for this development, so we can't be so picky.
Guys port the cyanogen mod 9 Galaxy Y.
Here's a link to a topic.
The original rom is REALLY BUGGY itself...How do you suppose a port will do anything good? A port will add even more bugs to the build. So much that it would become unusable. Not trying to discourage you or anything. Just stating ...

it would be safer it we tried to port CM9 ourself

I dont hink it wil b possible as cm7 is still miles away frm gettin onto our fones. GPU sources r also nt yet out(fu***** brodcom).
Theres a mini cm9 for the international gt s5830. And works really good. Almost no bugs as i installed it on my gf's ace
Maybe that one would be the right one to port.

I don't understand most of what devs do. I do understand some pieces of code, I know how to do some basic theming, and I can use search engines.
I also know that "she boot" is not a start. Why? Read post#2. It's written by a dev who actually knows more than your "at least it starts?" questions. We already have a CM7.2 that "she boot", but it's very buggy, and not for daily use. If you want it, and "do not care problems, she boot is a start", google it.
EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention why the "she boot" CM7.2 is full of bugs. It's ported from the Galaxy Y as well and even tho "at least it starts" the most crucial features don't work.

oh I understand this is not exactly "a beginning" significant, but for me it is. I asked this question because I have not had time to test, but if any of you tested could say, so I asked the question. If at least boot, it means a lot to me, I'm already anxious for ace ics running on and can not wait for that to happen.
I understand little about ports, I read a lot but never tried that already do not use linux and do not have time for this, but sorry if you enterpretou bad what i said, it was not the intention.

The ROM in the OP will brick the S5830I if installed, so no one can test it unless it's ported, which is useless because:
1- It will even more buggy
2- CM9, even if ported correctly, will be extremely laggy, because the full GPU sources for the S5830I aren't available.
3- CM7 isn't ready yet. CM9 only requires more work.
Dude this is lyk imposible yet v dont have cm7,cm9 is far to go
N other thing is that this cm9 from wich ur portnng is itself bugly its useless to port a rom with bugs !!

ever read about the differances between S5830 and S5830i ? well Original device have Adreno200 which it has source code released and S5830i have Videocore IV that is made by broadcom even tho broadcom agreed to share some of its device's source code they denied to release VC IV's code without HW Acceleration its an piece of crap with 1ghz(with rafael's latest kernel) cpu and 300mb ram even Galaxy Y is better than this device because there are some ports that already getting done its cheaper if we compare this device to that...

Cool. Have fun with your new "Move the orange circle!" game
By the way, you seriously shouldn't flash Galaxy Y ROMs. Your keys may end up not getting recognized (in other words: no recovery/download mode for you anymore).
I have had a look around, and I have yet to find a way for an i9000 to have two ROMs installed.
Is there such a thing? I'd like to have CyanogenMod 10 (stable) installed as my primary ROM, and CM 10.1 (nightly) installed as a second partition, and a way to chose which to boot into.
Can someone point me in the right direction for this?

I don't think it's possible for you to have both cm10 and cm10.1 dual booting but there is a dual boot kernel that allows two 4.2 ROMs by dertufuel search devil dual boot kernel

That was more of an example. 10.1 would be the first I got, and if I had more slots I'd add on other ROMs that weren't Cyanogen.
I'd mix and match the ROMs, I just needed a simple example of what I wanted so anyone could understand
I did actually install 10.1, a couple of things I liked, others I didn't. For now, I'm sticking with 10.0, but I'd like to dual boot some other non-Cyanogen ROMs to see what they're like

Even without both Cyanogens, if I can get CM10 as my phone ROM, and another of whatever kind as a second, that'll do me. As I said in my last quote, CM10 and 10.1 were just examples, I would eventually download other ROMs to try.
Thanks by the way, I'll look into your suggestion

Its not possible now to make dual boot with DerTeufel1980 DualBoot - Devil4.2 (04-Feb-2013) and its working on 4.2.1 roms, not 4.1.2.
Many thanks to him...:good:
The Q is: Can anybody recommend which rom is suitable to use with this kernel?
Hi all,
I've heard of the SiyahKernel for the I9300 which has dual boot functionality.
Does anybody know if this works on the I9305? Or is there a dual boot kernel available which is made for the I9305 in special?
Reason why I want to have dual boot:
I'm a huge Ubuntu fan. And what I've understood from what I've read is that it's CM(10?) based. So I'd like to use that as second rom. (I know, there isn't a version for the I9305 available right now, but I'll give it a try to port it from I9300 to the I9305.)
Thanks in advance.
As far as I was aware there is no dual boot yet for our device

Does it take much time to make a kernel which supports dual boot ?
Does anybody know how to port a kernel from I9300 to the I9305 ? Is it hard work to do that ?
And why does the 1GB extra and LTE support make such a difference for ROMS on the device ?
Thanks in advance.
Its not so much the difference as developers actually wanting to work on the phone . Nobody pays them its their choice what to develop . jje

1. Thats not REALLY hard, however you have to know what to do. Looking and comparing sources is good point to start. Take a look at gokhan or googy commits about dual boot for example.. Personally, I havent been interested in it, but I might look into it, why not
2. Apart from these, we have other radio, and that causes so much trouble with ROM differences..

I mean, another radio, like baseband, ril etc. I wasn't talking about normal FM radio (we haven't even got one in i9305).
However, taking only these proper files (like ril + modem) from our ROMs and take them to i9300 ROMs might work, I tried some time ago doing same thing with temasek's cm10.1 and it worked.. Unfortunately I wasn't able to compile fully stable and well working kernel (based on temasek's sources) therefore I do not use it now ;p

its not that easy. s4mini have 2gb ram and a lot of bloatware and scripts. you should clear them to fit our 1gb ram. and so. its hard job.

Typically speaking - porting roms only work when the phones are similar in terms of hardware (many MTK devices do this). The S3 Mini and the S4 mini have completely different hardware, with nothing being the same, it's probably next to impossible (it may be possible, but it's probably a lot more trouble than it's worth).
It's a bit like trying to put a truck/lorry engine inside a small car - extremely diffcult, not worth the labour and money.
