[CWM] GSM Modems collection for Galaxy Tab 10.1 [P7500] - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android Development

Title says it all. If, for some reason, you're not satisfied with your gsm modem on your tab (like I was with the new LQ8 radio), here you have a chance to change it. These are CWM packages with gsm modem, compatible with any stock or custom based on stock (I don't know if it works on CM9/10). They work for sure on european GT-P7500, but they should work also for any other tab which is GSM based (note that I tested it only for P7500).

Haha... This is good. You never stop give to the community do you?
I have never investigated witch radio is the best. What is your favorite radio?
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app

Well, I feel like community has given a lot to me since I joined it 5 yrs ago, and I should give back while I can
I prefer the KL4 radio over that new LQ8, but you should test which one suits your area and your provider. What is good for me may not be good for somebody else. Anyway, I'll try to find more modems for you to try

Put up a poll and let the investigation begin that way? Just a sugestion. But a xda poll is a little bit rough as a scientific tool.

Now that's a quite good idea

I saw on my device: P7500XWKG1.
Can I flash one of them?

If you have a P7500, then yes you could try it.

Any idea which region the modems are released in?

Well, each of the radios were released in more than one stock rom. I can tell for sure that they were in Baltic region and Eastern Europe region stocks.

OFF topic:
can we use the "USB broad bamd (3g) modem" with our tab ?
the cheap chinese tab has these feature

Yeah, should work. But not every model.

Details please

You should check for yourself Like i said, what works good for me in my region can be worse for you.

What's the difference in the modems?
Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk 2

Each modem behaves different. Different reception, different battery etc. It s hard to explain easily.

Nice posting Toldo
Compare to XXLQ8 which comes with stock Samsung ICS .. I rather choose KL4 though my favorit is KL3 ::victory:..
but the difference shouldnt be significant as I have tried both KL3 and KL4
LQ8 is really battery sucking vampire

What does changing the modem do?
I have recenty converted my Korean M380W Tab into the P7510.....and it works great.
But, it does seem that wifi is a bit slow now.......would the modem affect this?
If so, I guess I will flash one of these and give it a go. What is the best way to test to see which one is best for me? Just a speed test or something?

The best way is to flash and check everything. Speed, reception, etc.

Hi Toldo,
i am using the KL4 for a longer time, since i had started with overcome.
One of the best modems at all ...

About 3g freqency on new 2.3.3 firmware

Hi, I am a newbie here. I have a T-Mobile USA galaxy tab . I am wondering if I flash 2.3.3 rom, does 3g still work?
Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T849 using XDA App
It would depend on a rom-per-rom basis. I would imagine that many, if not most, would work fine. Read over the entire post of which ever rom you are interested in using, it should state whether or not 3g works. I'm no engineer, but I really don't think the firmware version would matter. It depends on the modem you use.

[Q] Upgrading to ICS Rom Question

After my fiasco with a bootleg http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742680, (thanks to everyone for your help in telling me I was "less then smart." ) I now have a genuine N7000. It currently is running Gingerbread, and I would like to flash it to ICS. I am not using it with a provider right now, so the "Software Update" in the "About Phone" section will not work. The question I have, is which ROM should I use. In the "About Phone" section, it states I am running Baseband N7000XXLA4. Any suggestions? Please let me know if you need any more information. Thank you all for your time!

If you want ICS look for android 4.03 and choose what country you want but any country will do. WARNING. If running on ics dont do a factory reset, recovery data wife, and nandroid ( back up &restore). If you want to be safe remained in gingerbread.
Check out dr ketans thread in the stickies of rom development section. It lists all the roms by region both for ics and gb. You can just select Tue newest one for your region.
There's also further information on rooting, but perhaps leave that for later.

Thanks for the reply! Currently my phone is unlocked running Gingerbread, if I update to ICS, will I have to unlock the phone? I bought an unlocked phone because I travel all over the world and got tired of having to get used to a new phone every time I am in a new country. I usually stay 2 months at a time, and it is easier and cheaper to use a carrier in country than using my cell phone from home.
Thanks for all the help and information!

Flashing won't affect unlock. Just make sure you upgrade to correct region and all connection settings and everything will be exactly the same.
If upgrading to ics, read the sticky about the superbrick bug also, basically don't perform any wipes on stock ics roms, danger of brick.

To make sure I understand, since I will be spending most of my time in Asia, I should choose a ROM from there? Will those ROM's work if I go to a trip to the US as well? I am sorry for all the questions, but I just want to have as much information as possible before I pull the trigger and update to ICS. Thank you for your patients and help.

If you're only visiting Asia and have a us sim, or swap out for an Asian sim just for the trip, then stick with a us code rom. Also, if you flash a different region it will perform a full wipe of the device which is dangerous on current stock ics roms, so it probably safest to check your current code and flash the same.
We all start somewhere, I found android flashing quite complicated at first but it starts to make sense quite quickly. Hope it helps. Do ask if you need further help flashing.

Thank for the reply. I have flashed Android before, but never on a phone. It have always been on a Tablet. My final question, should I stay with a ROM from the same region that my phone is right now? Also, how do I find out what region it is currently from without having a simcard in it? I will be putting a sim card into it once I get to Japan in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the information. I greatly appreciate all the help!
Yes, I would stick to your current csc. Dial in the following on the phone dialler:

Terrible call quality/interference

Hi guys,
I'm having problems with my gf's Galaxy S, with the call sound quality.
Most calls I make to it have a terrible background noise, sometimes so loud that I cant even hear what she is saying, while other times it is a bit better.
She is on tiramislim v2.0 now, but I had the same problem on the stock rom as well as CM9. I've changed the modem, it's now on XXJVU modem and still I get the same problem.
It seems that the only normal call we can have is when she is out on the open. WHen I called her the last time to check the quality when she was in her room the background noise was terrible, but when she went out on the balcony the call was almost perfect (the noise doesnt just happen in her rom tho, but also when she is out, etc), which makes me think there might be some kind of interference with other things. But she doesnt have anything unusual in her room, tv, laptops, wifi router, cell phones, wireless phone, so I really dont know what the problem could be any more.
I'll attach a short file so you can hear the problem.
Thanks guys
Anyone?
I had the same problem with my galaxy s, i dont think there is any way of fixing it

Great, thanks.
I just downloaded the XXJW4 modem and will flash it on the tiramislim 2.0.
I only have one more question: will flashing the modem only through ODIN wipe the phone? Because then I'd need a bit more time to work with it.
Most modems are through cwm but if you have repartition unticked it wont

[Q] Recommended Baseband for curent ROMs

Is there any recommendation for Baseband? I see alot of them. And people blindly use them. Are there baseband with better battery or with better wifi ? or it dosn't matter ?
If there will be more info in this topic, I will make him as know-how for basebands, but now I would like to collect more data.
Ain't they the main problems with pople complaining about they ROMS ? Half people says that rom work perfectly other halt complain - and everybody skip the baseband topic?!
Currently im on XXKPL, with 10beta2 - Everything works ok, wifi dont drop signal. How about You ? which basebane you use and what could you say about it?
EDIT:
Its look like German/Europen baseband KPO have better battery/wifi?!
It would be nice if there was some more information about them idd. the only known stats are their origin (country/region/carrier)
AW: [Q] Recommended Baseband for curent ROMs
Yeah some info would really be nice. I can only say that I was on ZSKPC before and I had some signal problems... when I saw that ZSKPC is for Taiwan or something, I changed to XXKPL which is for Austria (that's where I live) and some other European countries. My signal problems are gone now, and I also have the feeling that Wi-Fi is working better now.

Code:
MODEM/PHONE - This part holds a firmware driver for one of the most important hardware part of your phone, the GSM radio transmitter.
Code:
This can be useful for example if a specific MODEM version has drivers that conserve the battery better.
So it's even more related If Modem/Baseband is that important we should focus on picking good one too, and not just picking ROM and complain because others have better signal/battery life.
Are there any researches about picking the best baseband ?

ps::Change baseband if you are having some issues with current one..and make sure that u have the current one in somewhere..
otherwise if XXKPM gives u problem , u cant go back to original one..
To test the difference we all need to compare diffrent basebands with. I have XXKPM installed and it works flaweless (except the moblile connection inside a building f** vodafone)
Not true. U can always go back to stock baseband of your country by flashing stock rom released for your region. I'm using XXKPM... It's really good.

What do you expect from wifi on your phone? all wifi use in every country use the same protocol (802.11a/b/g/n/and so on). 802.11b/g is very common this day. The differences between country only in the channel they are allowed by their government law.
In summary, you can flash any stock rom (euro or asia, or china, or anything you like) and your wifi should work. If your wifi don't work, check if your wifi AP in your home/office (any place you use wifi) is working well or the configuration is correct. If you are sure there's no problem with AP and other device (like your laptop or other phone) able to connect, then maybe you have a faulty wifi hardware in your O4X.
