After a thankfully brief episode with soft bricking my phone, I've managed to install the stock 2.1 ROM on it. Using x8toolbox, I rooted it, then installed CWM recovery. Then also unlocked my bootloader succesfully.
BUT I can't manage to boot into CWM Recovery. If I understand correctly im supposed to press back repeatedly when I see the sony ericsson kernel logo on the screen. I do that, but still the phone goes on to boot normally to my ROM.
What can be the reason behind this??

Because of you have unlocked your device's bootloader then flash a custom kernel. It has built-in recovery so you won't have any problem entering the recovery.
Try to manually install the recovery.....

I was trying to install 2.3.6 DDKQ6. The Odin process finished successfully and restarted the phone. But now the phone is in a boot loop. It keeps getting restarted after 2 seconds. I can't get to recovery mode.
I can access download mode but flashing even again (different ROM) doesn't work.
Please help me
Edited 10-22-2012: Still no solution found. I have tried many ROMS and even tried to flash stock recovery. Senior members, please suggest next step

Make sure the rom is in your region. Dont install a rom from another country. Try get to recovery mode with button combination. Search for more tutorials.

As long as ur phone is bootlooping, it can enter in stock recovery. So, take out battery, re-insert it, goto STOCK recovery & do "wipe data/factory reset" & wipe cache. It worked for me & for most of us too!!

I have tried the recovery button combination a lot of times. I believe recovery comes after the logo screen? But my phone keeps rebooting before even showing the logo screen.

Here is the procedure i used for update.

I think
first comes the Samsung logo (no matter which ROM u have installed).
then comes your device logo (varies with the kernel installed).
then boot-screen.
If you press home+power button u will enter into the stock recovery console(if cwm or other recovery is not installed).
And if you don't press the home+power button then you will boot normally.
Be on the safe side
Press home+power button until u see the recovery console.
Most of the boot-loops can be solved by wiping up cache and factory reset.
Hope this will solve your problem.
Edit:
Try some after market ROMs they are way more fast and efficient than stock Samsung GB ROM. Try Apocalypse or
Democracy.
Just hold the power button and home button... release it when you see SAMSUNG.. flash the rom again if still you dont get any help...

Hey guys.. i think i have bricked my phone
I have the c6602 model and have a unlockable bootloader but left it locked. I have rooted it using goroh_kuns method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186368
then put CWM for locked bootloaders on it using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187363
then flashed this stock based kernel ROM through CWM without wiping the old one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175903
but now my phone starts up, and reboots automatically, resulting in a loop. I can not go into the CWM recovery anymore because you have to do it through pc everytime while your phone is on.
Personally i think its Superuser from the previous rom and SuperSU from the new rom mixing up and resulting in the loop boot
Can somebody help please..?

If you have the blue led working this means that it has the fastboot mod working - press VOLUME UP + PLUG INTO PC(not power)
try to switch off the device then press the VOLUME DOWN button while connecting to pc = flash mod
If you have one of theese working you can always repair your device

I don't know how the issue started. I have been using CM10 for almost 2 months without issues. I restarted the phone and boom! It was stuck in a bootloop with that boot animation keeping appearing all the time. I tried a factory reset, flashing the ROM again, flashing another ROM, and even flashing the stock ROM with all the images using ODIN. It was still stuck on the boot animation. I was surprised that the last solution didn't work because everytime I did it, the phone recovered from the bootloop.
I can still enter into download and recovery mode.

Samsung GT-I9000 boot into recovery mode after pressing the power button
Not sure it is the same problem or not, but my phone (Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000) keeps booting into recovery mode everytime I turn on the phone by pressing the power button. I tried to root with the stock PIT file and stock ROM or CWM recovery and stock ROM or any customized ROM, such as CMD 10.1, but it still boots into the recovery mode every time I turn on the phone WITHOUT using any combo keys, e.g. VOL down, Home and Power buttons).
The thing is that the recovery mode is not looping. Basically, after I press just the POWER button, the phone boots into the recovery mode and stay there.
Please help!
Many thanks!!!

My problem is solved, I had to go to "Mounts and storage" in recovery and choose "format /cache"

What you have to do is to flash the boot loader, I had the same exact problem and this solved it. But our devices are different so I don't think my boot loader will work on yours.

Thanks. Let me try that. Will keep you updated. Do you know where I can get the boot loader?
I have the t679 on tmobile and qm qttempting to get root/install cwm.
I do not have access to a pc qnd so am unable to get into stock recovery the 'easy' way.
I saw instructions on holding down the up volume button qnd power buttin, then releasing the power button after the first white samsung logo appears. i hqvr tried this many times to no avail.
I will not have access to a computer for the forseeable future. Does this mean i am stuck on stock 2.3.5 or is their actually a way to boot into stock recovery right from the phone?
Thanks !

I have a quick question about this. I have never done any of the holding buttons down while you reboot nonsense to get to recovery. If I hold in the power button I get a menu. I can shut down, restart, go into recovery or start the bootloader. I just select recovery and hit restart. It boots into TWRP. Am I missing something? It seems to have worked fine with my latest rom. Maybe this situation explains the trouble i was having loading AOIP.

Fastboot cm11 kernel and then try to boot device.
It's kernel problem...
If that won't do the job, do this:
Flash stock firmware through pc companion, root it and install recovery.
Edit:sorry, my bad - I meant flash stock ftf through flashtool...
Download CM ROM again and flash it.
Make sure flashable zip contains boot.img, that's kernel.
You can drive cm rom on stock kernel, your device will stuck in loop...

cnyoen mod 11 boot loop problem
but right now as i said the loop is not allowing the phone to charge.
when little charged the loop is draining the battery and the mobile is switching off.
due to this i am unable to go into fast boot or repair through pc companion
but iam able to go into cwm recovery.
any help to recover ?
Press and hold both the volume up and power button until the phone vibrates 3 times.
Then you can flash the CM kernel
Inside the update.zip is boot.img file, flash with fastboot using the following
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then enter recovery and flash the update.zip
EDIT
If you can enter recovery just flash the update.zip
If you have unlocked the boot it should work
i held the power and volume up button and waited for 3 vibrations.
then tried to flash by pressing vol u p button and then the usb cable into te mobile.
but there is no blue light i only see the red light and after some time the cynogen mod boot loop appears.
pls help .

That's not recovery, that's flashmode.
Reboot the phone and repeatedly press the volume up button as its booting to get in recovery
Then flash the update.zip
r u there .. can u suggest anything...
Yes, follow my instructions
Enter recovery and flash the update.zip
Do you know how to get into recovery? I have told you in my last post. You seem to have recovery mixed up with flashmode.
You need recovery.
once i reboot the phone and while pressing the vol up button should i connect to pc ?

No, recovery is on the phone, it has nothing to do with the computer.
Please follow the instructions as I have given them
powered the phone and kept on pressing the vol up .. the red light initially there vanished and the screen is blank. i dint see any activity after i powered on the phone except for the red liht flashed 2 times and the light vanished.
OK, leave the phone on charge for a few hours .
Then try again.
If you cannot enter recovery you need to fastboot the kernel from the update.zip and the enter recovery after that.
If all else fails, just flash a stock FTF using flashtool
how do i know if my phone is charging , becoz yesterday i charged my phone whole night .
but in the morning i still see that it does not get till the boo screen.
is this a hardware problem?

What are you talking about??
He can't use fastboot because he unlocked bootloader!?
That's the exact thing you can do when you unlock bootloader...You can flash custom kernel.
If he use kernel image with recovery he has everything..
