I don't know why you don't have init.d dir, but you can get init.d support manually. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933849
If it doesn't work for first time, (i had some issues too) read the last few comments, where you'll find the solution.

if you already flashed rafael's kernel you should already have init.d support.. like what andy says.. you can find it in system/etc/init.d
use root explorer to see...

thx :highfive:
To set the correct permissions as set by the kernel on installation do
Code:
su
mount -t rfs -o remount,rw /dev/stl9 /system
[COLOR="Red"]chmod 0754 /system/etc/init.d/*[/COLOR]
mount -t rfs -o remount,ro /dev/stl9 /system
from terminal emulator or adb shell. Swap rfs for ext4 on mount command if you have an ext4 filesystem.
0 = advanced stuff/not relevant - 0 = unset
7 = owner's permissions = read (4) + write (2) + execute (1)
5 = group's permissions = read (4) + execute (1)
4 = everyone else's permissions = read (4)
If you haven't got an init.d but you installed Rafael's kernel, it's because you didn't install the modules or they didn't install correctly. Flash the modules zip and make sure /system is mounted in CWM before you do it.
Previously about 2 years ago an effort to under volt galaxy ace by building the modules was stressed. The effort to recompile it for our ace from a similar xperia device was given up because there were no modules devs on our ace forums! And the thread was lost in an ocean ! The question is, does our ace forum after these 2 years have a talent that can prove this valid & working ?

we should get the modules to be compiled for our ace if we add the correctlines to our defcofngi and use -m
to create modules seperately
maybe also modify cpufreq files to load the new UV
but what i did remember was that whentheygot uv to work on ace the hardware got damaged
so it was a no go

I suppose that it must be possible to get it working but I'd go on your thoughts coz you know more in these regards. Anyways, is it possible that someone ( may be you) can do it now ? Days have changed, we're running jelly bean on ace smoothly !

Does CyanogenMod usually support init.d and if they don't how do you get it?

Hi. What's the best (in your opinion) performance script for CM10.1?
I'd say Fly-On mod
