no need for formatting sd-ext, you dont have it

basically factory reset/wipe formats everything xcept system nd sd!
so no need to format again!!

[Q] Sense 2.2 roms dont flash =(

I really want to flash a 2.2 Sense rom but for some reason i always get a boot.img error. im using cwm 2.5.0.7 and it usually goes fine until about line 100 something then i get the error. I have tried re downloading, using ra, wiping and formating everything, wipe dalvik, etc and they still dont flash. Anybody know why?
Do you have an ext partition on your SDcard?

No. Could that be the reason why?
If it's the same file could be a bad download. Just need to wipe data, cache, and dalvik. Then flash. Unless you're using firerat. Works fine for me that way.

2. Place ROM in your SD card
3. Boot to CWM, wipe data, wipe dalvik cache
4. Select install from SD card
6. Then wipe data and wipe dalvik cache once again

Before you flash the rom.. recovery>mount and storage>format system then flash..(do also the other wipes)
Also format /system, /data and /cache from mounts and storage before flashing the rom.

Owh, sadly, i don't what happen with ur device.
Are this problem related to Galaxy Ace type?
are u sure you are on S5830? its likely that u are since non-cm roms for s5830 worked on ur phone.
Try this make the 3 wipes before and after flashing the rom, sometimes i face bootloop because of not wiping after installing the rom. If this fails then how abt chnging ur SD card, although thats far fetched it might just fix the problem.
1-Stock based roms work?
2-Did you try doing "mount system" before flashing?
3-Does it say installation successful/finished/etc or are there problems??

Are you saying that you format system, cache and data after flashing??
You just have to wipe dalvik, cache and factory reset after flashing, and even that is also not a compulsary step.
Sent from my GT-S5830
same here. i have never ever wiped anything AFTER flashing.
another idea:
full wipe => flash rom => start => get again to cwm => flash same rom again (no wipe or anything)
dont know if this has eny effect, but i heard sometimes flashing twice fixes some problems. might work for you to

[Q] Fix random reboots/shutdowns with CM9 stable

Running CM9 stable I am having some problems. Random reboots/shutdowns forcing me to take out the battery and put it back on in order to start the phone again. Why are this problem happening? I am not using another kernel, I am using the kernel that is included with CM9 with no addons whatsoever. How can I fix this and most important how can I prevent this happening?! It's very annoying...

I assume you had done a full wipe before flashing and also after flashing the ROM, If that is the case, just save all your internal SD card contents to PC and also backup your contacts etc to a cloud storage or Ext SD card and Format Internal S card and see how it functions on a clean slate.
Ok I will try that and report back

But I wonder, if I do a wipe before flashing CM9 (as you would normally do) everything will be erased and then you flash CM9. But if I wipe again AFTER I flashed CM9 wouldn't I repeat the whole process again?

R: [HELP]Galaxy mini GT-S5570 always bootloop with all custom ROM
I always flashed every rom with this method and all works fine
1-you must have gingerbread(2.3.4 or above)
2-flash cmw in odin
3-download a rom
4-reboot in recoveey mod
5-wipe data/factory reset
6-wipe cache partition
7-advanced->wipe dalvik cache
8-mounts and storage->format system
9-install zip from sdcard->choose zip from sdcard and wait
10-wipe data/factory reset
11-reboot system now.
It must work! Be sure you don't have galaxy mini2/gt s-5570i
Be sure the rom you download is for galaxy mini.
It MUST work.

4-wipe data/factory reset
5-wipe cache partition
6-advanced->wipe dalvik cache
7-download the custom rom u want
8-install (and also u know how )
..............
I have been through the same problem and solved recently after 12 hours of trying.
ı suggest you to install a stock rom version 2.3.6 using Odin. I solved this problem making the same. I think I didn't read the intructions well before I had tried to upgrade my mini from 2.3.4 to 4.2.1 JB. I flashed 4.2.1 JB rom and it didn't work. Then I tried to restore with my original rom which I had previously backed up before flashing 4.2.1 but I couldn't get beyond the "Samsung Mobile" text. I tried flashing other custom roms but the result didn't change. Then I did flash the stock rom for mini and everything was allright. After that I recovered my backup.
Hope it helps.

[Q] Phone memory disappeared after installing custom ROM Avatar3.0

Hello,
I recently rooted my phone and flashed it with "PhilZ-cwm6 v5.00.4 with CWM 6.0.3.1 based recovery" and then flashed "Avatar ROM 3.0"
Before flashing ROM, i followed these steps:
1. Select ‘wipe data/factory reset’
2. Subsequently ‘wipe cache partition’
3. wipe dalvick
The installation completed succesfully and after reboot i face following problems:
1. Can't open gallery, camera, theme chooser etc as it says no external memory found.
I have a micro sd card of 2 GB and the internal phone memory is 8GB.
But in the storage i find this:
Internal storage
Total Space: 1.97GB
Available: 1.88GB
Internal Storage
SD Card
Total Space: 1.90 GB
Available: 149MB [As i have songs and other files in the card]
USB Storage
MOUNT SD Card
Insert an SD card for mounting [Cannot click on this option]
Please help as it was my first time that i flashed a ROM.
Flashed new ROM but still the same problem with memory
I tried flashing ParanoidAndroid ROM and then CM ROM but still the phone memory is not detected and hence cannot open gallery, camera....
Please help!!!!
After flashing these roms did you flash gapps?
Cm based roms do not include any Google apps such as play store, or anything, gapps includes these. You need to flash that first, then deal with your memory issue which I don't think you have.

Hello SpyderTracks,
I tried to access sd card using Root browser as well as ES file explorer but the folder is empty. I can view the data of extsdCard.
One more thing i have noticed is when i'm in recovery mode and try to install new zip from sd card, I can see all the folders which my phone memory has. Why is it visible at that time?
Please Help its really urgent!!!

Need your help please please
Dear Sir,
I have installed custom ROM SuperNexus 2.0 milestone 1 at my gt-n7000.. I have rooted my cellphone using Philtz 5.0 version with CWM 6.0.3 version..After successful completion of custom Rom, my cellphone is not showing file manager, or my internal and external memory is not detected.
After going to Storage option, it shows Mount your external card, but it not highlighted so unable to click it.
Other thing I want to tell you that before installing above custom ROM, I took the backup of my jelly bean 4.1.2 ( I had installed it using odin to upgrade from ICS) using Philtz 5.0.. and when I used to restore to 4.1.2 JB from SuperNexus due to facing above mentioned problem, gallery is missing and setting option is also missing..
Please please guide me..
I will be grateful to you.
Warm Regards
