Hey all, I've tried searching and cannot find an answer to this question. I have the 4X and love it....but my data speeds are horribly slow. I am on the legacy Cingular 410 APN, can anyone suggest anything otherwise? I am in NY, don't know how much that matters. Also, does the 4X get ATT H+? I've only ever seen 3G or H next to my signal bars.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks all.
Anyone lol

Were in the same boat.. I use T-Mobiles 2g network and it's pretty fast for edge but too would like better speeds.

Everything I read states it receives ATT H+ speeds but speedtest results are slow and my signal bars only ever show 3G or H not once H+

Tried that and tweaker says the phone is unsupported for auto configuration and I need to manually do it. So I did and there was no change. Thanks tho.

Well sometimes it seems that the lg 4x needs the newest Typ of simcard. Why don't u try going to a local ATT store and see if it works better with a sim from them?

i am getting 900 kb/s on H in the netherlands:laugh:

Well for starters I bought the same phone from Wind, and it's not an LG optimus 2x, it's a T-mobile G2X. This is very important to remember when it comes to rooting and flashing.
But from what i have been reading the shutdown and rebooting is a known issue.
LOL is yours from wind?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if you can help me out. I'm with Mobilicity and I bought a brand new LG Optimus 2X from Wind and unlocked it.
When I entered the APN settings data seemed to have worked, but then when it ran out of batteries and shut off, I couldn't get data working on it again.
I checked all the APN settings and nothing was changed. It even shows the 3G signal there as well.
Any ideas?

Check background data on accounts and sync, also check carefully whether you got the P990 or the P999, it makes a difference for troubleshooting.
Does v21a and v21e support at&t's "4G"? Just wondering because I hear those basebands are ghost call free and I'd like to give it a shot.
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA
4g is all dependant on your location ..its very spotty and I'm not sure but I think you have to change the flex XML which gets a little tricky bit there is a thread on here that talks about it
Sent from my SGH-i677 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Yeah I know about the flex file. Aria has an entire thread on it. It just makes me wonder because v20p is the only one that gives me a good signal even though on v20c it uses the exact same baseband and signal strength is poor. Is v20p the only one with good strength?

Hahahaha I guess my phone is just borderline faulty. I hardly have good signal strength when I change the flex file and on the acid hazard rom my phone doesn't vibrate at all.
Also by poor signal, I mean it's poor after flex file changes

I have this phone on that band i was skeptical to at first because i heard
the base frequency's are what you flash for tmobile but just flashed it an hour ago and my "HSPA" is running fine :good:
A funny thing happened to me when using promethius v21e. I read it needed to mess with the flex and the apn to get 4G on my 925. So I did all of that stuff with replacing the dialer and contacts because of the force closes and I thought it was going well. But after a while it became pretty annoying the gapps would crash in the background all the time so I wiped all of the cache and reinstalled the base promethius zip v21e from my sd card. After that I didn't mess with flex or anything else and had normal att signal strength 6 mbps. I couldn't remember the apn that gives me 12 mbps off the top of my head so I just created one named it phone, and for apn I put phone and then hit save. First test of this setting gave me14.9 mbps speed test with zero change to stock flex or dialer. Running smooth and fast for 2 days.

to clarify, I only added the phone apn. I did not touch the apn for cingular that comes with promethius.
after you asked about mms I had my daughter send me one to find out. I did not get the mms until I modified my "phone" apn to apn type "default, internet" still leaving the original apn untouched. Ran another speed test seems okay.

Links or gtfo. The hardware is there (independent GPU), and the power is there (dual-core CPU, 512mb RAM) for ICS but this has been a pipe dream at best, please don't get our hopes up with more rumors. If you have a link, please SOS (Save Our Sanity) and post it.

LOL. I would do the same as you (Ask for a step by step.) however, T-Mobile gets crap for reception in my town. It's not even 2G in my town, so no point in using it. AT&T in my area just recently upgraded to HSPA+. There is no 4G LTE (Even for Sprint or Verizon.)

AT&T is the only carrier in my town, for some reason that has 3G or HSPA+ coverage.
It's how backwoods my town is.
I myself am connected to HSPA+. When I was on Sprint and had my Evo 4G, I had to go to Boston (Over an hour drive) to be able to test it out. Otherwise I'd get about 600 KBPS or so download.

Hey all I was just woundering if there is a free way to sim unlock my phone yes I know its cheap to buy on eBay but for me it is the principle. I found that if I stick my similar in I can use the phone by refreshing the service under the mobile network menus but I can't seem to save my apn for 3g internet or any network for that matter.

From my experience, some Android phones can be SIM unlocked entire by a software hack, and others can't.
It depends on the hardware and the ability to exploit the power cycle and other jargon I'm not familiar with.
I know for sure I was able to unlock a Galaxy S2 and a HTC Desire Z without paying for a code, but for the LG Optimus 2X P990 I had absolutely no such luck and had to buy a code. Same with a Motorola Backflip.
I am able to txt and make phone calls does that but not 3g or data is that normal for a locked phone or am I just doing something incorrect to set up apn

If you can text and call but not access data, then yes, you may have an APN or baseband or RIL problem.
Download APN Manager and GetRil.
I had the same problem with my P990 after unlocking it and using GetRIL to match the baseband properly solved my problem.
OK you are correct my baseband and rihl don't match what should I do from this point

The providers always write "up to" for a reason. You're most likely never going to reach that speed but that's how high it goes.

Yeah know the marketing, mate.
But since H3G also sells 42mbits internet keys I figured someone lucky must have seen faster speeds...
Otherwise it would mean they don't have the infrastructure.
And if so newphones would be a waste (thinking about getting a galaxy nexus)
By the way isn't there an app to show the connection speed like for wifi?

I assume that the people that actually pay for 42mbps should get speeds near to that. You're paying for 7.2mbps, correct? So about 5mbps is totally fine. There are apps to test your speed. Just search "Speedtest" on the market.
