Flash to Stock with No Touchscreen - Motorola Droid Bionic

I'm getting a new phone from a certain insurance company because my phone's touch screen stopped responding. I should probably flash to stock (I'm on ICS) but all the instructions require a touch screen... Is there a way to do it using adb? Or otherwise by bypassing touch interactions?
Also, I at one point replaced the digitizer on my bionic with an official Motorola digitizer. Is the insurance company going to be able to tell this and charge me extra? Now I really wish I had lost my phone instead...

They are ways to help, if you need it.

Which leak are you using?

The one from SamuriHL s house of bionic 247.
Then, I run cm10 in safe mode. I really love the work done on this build!

Sorry. That was meant for the OP.

Flashing to stock with RSD Lite never involves the touchscreen. You make sure the phone is off (likely by pulling the battery) and then hold VolUp+VolDown while powering on the phone. Use the volume rocker to get to Fastboot mode and then let RSD Lite do its magic.

Captivated Brick Question

So I think my phone may be dead. I decided to Odin 1-click to Eclair from Cognition beta 1. My phone started, made it to rfs and then froze. The phone will not boot, recognize usb, charge, anything.
Does Eclair one click flash primary and secondary bootloaders? I know without them ordering a jig is useless. I have an upgrade and I can get a new phone but I would much rather fix my captivate. Any help guys?

I have odin'd back to stock from Cog 5 without problem but if you used the odin with the three button fix, you are screwed. the 3 button fix odin will mix bootloaders since it only loads one froyo/eclair bootloader.

Alright, I finally have time to sit at the computer.
The phone was running Cognition 5Beta1.
I did not use ODIN 1-click. I used ODIN3 v1.0, placed pit.pit in the pit, placed PDA in the PDA, Connected the phone and held the vol bumper. Phone booted into download and connected as COM4. (JF7 software) I clicked start, the phone made it all the way to RFS, the green bar made it approx 20% across and then the bump, the progress bar froze and would not continue any further. Now phone will not respond to any button. However, the battery was warm when I left it on the charger all night.
Doesn't the phone need the primary bootloader for charging?
I made the $1 JIG and failed. I do not have steady hands though. I'm pretty sure the phone needs JTAG but just wanted to sit and type everything out to make sure. I figured if sbl.bin completed that I would have a bootloader.
To answer my own question, my phone now has mismatched bootloaders and needs JTAG. Looks like it will be sent off soon.

Yeah That happened to me. Had GB loaders and went back to stock using JF6 secure. However I checked for an OTA update and there was one. So being the experimental type I downloaded it and while it was installing it failed halfway and complete Brick.....I realized soon afterwards my mistake. A few days and $50 later MobileTech sent me back a stock fixed device. Well worth it.
Last night I tried to use ODIN 3 1.3 to go back to stock out of a bootloop and since I have a new model captivate it doesn't play nice with 1.3. Got the infamous blackout. Thought I bricked again but soon after the phone-PC image appeared and I knew there was hope.
Used the JIG and ODIN3 1.8
to flash stock and reflashed my ROM.
Looking for an alternative to Continuum. seems to get laggy after a week or so. With an SGS 2 on the way I may go back to Froyo on this one or COG beta 5

Are you sure? Read AdamOutler's thread on the one click unbrick. Its possible you trashed a different file that is causing the black screen.

I tried the one click unbrick. Adam is doing some awesome work there. It will help a lot of people. Unfortunately, I was not one of them.
I looked at the flashing order and traced to where my flash failed. I only flashed one bootloader. A gingerbread/eclair mix doesn't boot, Haha.
It was also a pleasure talking to you as well. I've also decided one thing, I'm ditching this Atrix when my Captivate is fixed. It's a really awesome phone but I can't stand not having an AMOLED. Looks like I'll be waiting on the Galaxy S II to make it over.

It may sound silly, but i encountered the same problem today.
Disconnected my usb when working with odin and got permanently bricked.
Phone did not turn on, no indicator of charging, freaked out..
All i did was kept my mobile for charging for 20 mins even though it did not display that battery bar, disconnected from power supply, took out sim, ext sd, and removed the battery for 1 min and put it back and tried out the two button download mode, and done, my phone went into download mode, and then recovered everything back..
I know it sounds silly, but maybe of some help...

[Q] How to boot into CWR when the phone is off...

I installed white Experience (Theory Rom theme) and before I did that I removed gmail because Experience was going to install a different one. Well, when it booted up it went straight to the setup screen and I cant move beyond that. How do I get in to CWR from the phone being powered off.
Steve
Unfortunately you can't.
You can enter stock recovery by powering up and holding both volume buttons. Use volume down to get to recovery and then hit volume up. Factory reset and wipe cache and see if that helps.

Paying $2.99 for the bootstrap has nothing to do with booting into recovery from a powered off state.
Even with the official bootstrap, this can't be done.

The powerboost script and option 5 may have saved you if you had done it before this scenario. This makes CWM run on every boot. But you would have to be using theories reblurred 1.7, not sure if it is possible to get it working on stock, deodexed etc.
There is also a recovery tool floating around these forums that allows you to recover from a boot loop that many people have used with success, I haven't had to use it yet....

[Q] Can droid 3 be returned through warentee?

Ok so I soft bricked my phone then used "flash version droid 3 ota 5.6.890to phone-psouza4.zip to get it back to stock.....I used terminal emulator to see if I was still rooted....said permission denied I'm not rooted....my power key has been sticking would it be safe to warrantee the phone?
Get rid of all evidence of trying to root and the power key sticking should be enough. But I'm sure you can get it to root somehow. Maybe a different cable?

Not to hijack this thread, but I've been curious about this, I bought my D3 off craigslist. Is it still covered under warranty even if I'm not the original owner? I've also had a sticky power button at times and it seems to be getting worse.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
I would say, it should be. Motorola has a 1 year manufactures warranty. They should be able to see when it was initially put in service when they run the esn.

I returned my og droid still rooted because of a broken headphone jack and no one cared. If it's not rooted then I think you should be fine. No one in the store is going to want to spend the time to go through the whole thing. I assume you are going to do this at your Verizon (also assuming Verizon) store. Every time I have had a problem they have just handed me a new phone.
CM
thanks
Thanks for info guys
If you bought the phone on your Verizon account and you are able to keep it in your account then Verizon will handle the warranty. Otherwise you will have to go though Motorola.

I just got mine replaced over warranty. I called it in, said it wouldn't turn on. When I got the new one, I bricked the rooted one by interrupting a fastboot flash and send it back. I haven't been charged for a new one, so it seems that method works.

I wouldn't want to be charged later for the phone if I had brought it back at a vzw store so I would just restore to stock prior to exchange.takes 5 minutes.

[Q] Droid 4 Problem

I come to you all with a slight problem. I own a rooted Incredible 2 device and I'm doing great. My friend, however, owns a Droid 4. She went from an Envy3 to a brand-spankin'-new smartphone. She came to me for help since I pretend to know what I'm talking about.
Now the problem she's having is that sometimes when she turns her phone on, the backlight come on and the softkey lights come on, but the phone doesn't boot up. I've played with it a bit and after doing to reset method (hold down power + vol down) and it works every now and again but most of the time it does not work.
I'm hoping you guys can diagnose and help me out. Thanks!
I imagine you've already checked, but just in case and because the most obvious things tend to sometimes slip our minds...the battery is charged, right? If it shuts back down before fully booting, that could be it. If it just sits there partially booted, idk. Also, plugged in or not plugged in when this happens?

Haha, yes. I was going to add that in the original post but I thought it was too obvious. Uh, it might be partially booted? It's just the backlight and softkeys that are lit up.
Stock d4?... rooted... ? If stock I'm guessing you tried the basics like safe mode (hold "OK" button from moto dual core screen till it says safe mode...) FDR... FDR and safe mode without SD card... ? When booting or the attempt to boot where does it stop? Do you see the dual core screen... the DROID eye... can you get into the recovery menu?

Droid 4 will not boot

Hello
My dads Droid 4 is rooted running JB. I have safe strap installed. One day he took the phone out of his pocket and the screen was off. He gave me the phone to work on but I still cannot get it to boot. It turns on when the wall charger is plugged into it but comes up with either 5%-100% battery or a question mark within a battery. I can sometimes get it to boot into safe strap but that's it. I was wondering if anybody has any insight of what is wrong or knows how they can help me fix this issue. Thanks for reading!!
Sorry but looks like you'll need to do this the painful way

You'll have to SBF back to stock JB. I think you have the same problem my old LG Ally had. It's a random softbrick, unless I'm wrong. The cure is to SBF back to stock JB using a Windows machine.

Ah I see, I suppose you'll need a Motorola factory cable attachment from Team Black Hat. I made a factory cable myself with the aid of a friend who knew how to solder, but it was a little unnerving - if we messed up, would have fried the phone and computer. Anyway, get the attachment, and it should charge fine from the compute, plus you'll be able to SBF.

Thanks for the recommendation, but one point that I need to clarify is that the TBH Factory Adapter or cable will not charge the device at all.
It bypasses the battery and charging circuit altogether and powers the device directly from the USB.
This is an important distinction to make and it means that the device will always power on and boot no matter what, with or without a battery, and allow you to flash it with RSD Lite or fastboot or manually fix whatever problem was preventing it from booting and charging normally.
Then, once fixed, it will be able to boot and charge properly.
It will never charge when the factory cable/adapter is attached and for non removable battery devices like the D4 it will actually immediately power off the device when the USB cable is disconnected.
Good luck with your phone and congrats on fixing it yourself.
We think the adapters are a much safer and inexpensive solution for most users and believe everyone who mods their Motorola device should have one...before the need arises to actually use it!
So I made a cable and sbf the phone...still comes up with the battery with the X in the middle... Guessing its the battery that's bad? Not too sure
