Installing OTA ZIP file from Sammobile.com - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I downloaded from the OTA Files section of sammobile.com a ZIP file "GT-N7000_SMA_93970111.zip", which appears to be an update file.
I have no idea how to install it. I have tried CWM (select zip file) and Mobile Odin (OTA update) with no success.
I can't get any OTA updates, and can't seem to update via Kies.
Please help me install the update.

Agree with Dr Ketan,
i have tried to update using the OTA file from sammobile but when i do it via CWMR, it fault (signature verification failed)
mobile odin requires a update.zip file which doesnot recognize the above file as an update and instead it just unpacks the zip.
I can't get any OTA updates, and can't seem to update via Kies.

as dr ketan mentioned the link.. there is plenty of help there..
as for me.. i had the same problem... i gues the OTA doesnot install in rooted phones.. install the stock 404 july firmware using pc odin ...(this will remove root and install stock kernel) and then do an ota update... after that root ur phone

HELP! Absolutely CANNOT boot into CWM

I followed everything via this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147852 and successfully flashed CWM to my GT-I8190.
The problem arises when I attempt to boot into recovery mode. Every time I attempt it, I am taken to the stock android recovery screen and not CWM. I've tried different versions of Odin... the touch version of CWM.. using a different computer... all to no avail.
I even downloaded Rom Manager thru Google Play and attempted to flash/update CWM from there (as it said it was, indeed, installed on my phone) but it wouldn't let me reboot the phone into recovery from Rom Manager - I imagine because I am not rooted.
I'm attempting to root my phone and flashing CWM is the first step. Like I said, the flash was, indeed, successful but the problem is that it always takes me into stock recovery instead of CWM.
Thanks in advanced, guys!
try another custom recovery, for example this one.
Wait until Odin says "success" and then reboot into recovery via Vol+ Home and Power

Thanks! I downloaded the TWRP .zip file and extracted it only to find that there is no .tar file... only an image file... This won't work with Odin, will it?

This zip file is a flashable zip for custom recoveries here for odin : http://get.novafusion.pl/?id=863
Good luck!

Thanks, guys! I'll post back with my results.
Same deal, xXPR0T0TYPEXx... I extract the .zip to find merely an image file.. I tried it with Odin anyway but Odin will not recognize it.
Hmmmmm.... I may have to go with vROOT if you tell me it's safe to use.
Another way of root is by flashing unsecure kernel. You can do it easily by Android Toolkit.

The file that you download is a .zip file, not a .tar file.

[How-To] Root G900AUCU2ANG3

**Make certain that your reactivation lock in security settings is off before beginning this process**
1. Take the NG3 OTA update.
2. Download and install Towelroot-v3.apk(this version does not require internet access).
3. Place your phone into "Download Mode" (press and hold the Home, Volume Down, and Power keys until the phone powers on and displays warning screen, then press Volume Up key) and flash the G900A_ND3_Stock_Kernel using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
4. Open the Towelroot app from your app drawer and press "Make it Rain" to root your device.
5. Power off then boot into "Download Mode" again and flash the G900A_NG3_Stock_Kernel also using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
6. Install SuperSU to manage root access. Done!
Notes:
1. After flashing the ND3 kernel your phone may run a little wonky and towelroot may not root on the first try. If that happens reboot and try towelroot once again. Once rooted and after flashing the NG3 kernel your phone will once again run like a champ!
2. Following the above process will not affect your User Data or Knox Warranty Flag.
3. Should the NG3 ota update fail consider returning to stock NCE by flashing the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+) then taking the NG3 OTA update (or place the G900A_NCEtoNG3_OTA.zip onto your ext-sdcard and sideload from stock recovery). Once updated to NG3 continue from Step 2 above.
Alternative Method for Safestrap Users:
1. Place the G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip onto your ext-sdcard.
2. Use Safestrap's Backup Function to back-up User Data.
3. From the Safestrap recovery perform an "Advanced Wipe" and wipe everything but your ext-sdcard.
4. Flash the G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip using Safestrap's "Stock Slot."
5. Then press "Home" then "Restore" and restore User Data.
6. Once complete press "Home" then "Reboot" and reboot into "Download" mode.
7. Last, flash the G900A_NG3_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5 using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
Notes:
1. The G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip process will update your Modem, Non-hlos, System, Kernel, and Stock Recovery to NG3 but does not include the NG3 Bootloader.

It looks like I can't OTA to ND3 anymore. The software update gets me 160MB update directly from NCE reflash.

That's not a bad thing/ I can create a "KeepRoot" zip for it. Can you pull it from your cache/fota folder and upload it and send me a link? Thank you.

Yes. If you have any trouble re-installing safestrap using the apk just install SELinux Mode Changer from the Playstore and set to permissive.

Not necessary to rename before uploading.
I sent the file to you. However when I want to test install the file in stock recovery, I always get error and it will not update (but I can open in computer with 7zip or other programs). Not sure if the file itself has problem.

Thanks, I will check out the file. Did you modify or delete any apps? If so that nay cause the error. You may have to odin back to nce then try again.

No. I ODIN back to NCE, no root. Then I rerun update from About/software update. It does download 162MB file, then boot into AT&T logo. It will update until 30% and reboot, then the firmware is still NCE.
I am starting to think the file that people download from NCE is actually the same as those with ND3. However the file expects ND3 so it won't install (hence I get the error both with running the app and install in recovery). Notice all those people saying update fail in another thread?

The file you sent me is definately an NCEtoNG3 version of the OTA. Which NCE Odin .tar are you using to flash back to stock NCE? Please send me the link. Also. what is the error msg when you sideload from stock recovery?

EMMC: dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/apnhlos:7082752:....(whatever code is)" has unexpected contents.
E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7)
The ODIN files are the one downloaded in this forum, that when expanded, contains:
AP_G900AUCU1ANCE_964333_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
BL_G900AUCU1ANCE_964333_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

CSC_G900AUCU1ANCE_964333_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
and using only AP, CP, and CSC (BL won't flash through because it had been updated with ND3 before and ODIN back to NCE).
And yes, I see the line "Package expects build fingerprint of samsung/klteuc/klteatt:4.4.2/KOT49H/G900AUCU1ANCE:user/release-keys"

Ahha! You have the wrong non-hlos.bin! I will package the NCE modem and send it to you. It should work after that.

The NCE Odin .tar that you flashed does not contain the non-hlos.bin. The non-hlos.bin is in the BL file in that set of .tars which the OP tells you not to flash. Likely beacuse if you are on the ND3 bootloader your wifi may go out or your phone may run wonky if you flash the NCE non-hlos.bin.
Here is the NCE modem pkg including non-hlos.bin. Flash in PDA or AP slot in Odin: G900A_NCE_Stock_Modem
Just go into stock recovery after flashing and re-sideload the NG3 OTA. I will put together an All-in-One_NCE_Odin.tar with the non-hlos so that other won't run into this issue. Someone will have to test.

S5 Active unable to return to stock NE4

Took the OTA update to 5.0 from stock. Decided I wanted to root, so I rebooted, wiped data/cache and then booted into download mode to downgrade to NE4 stock with odin. Flash NE4 in AP slot and now I get stuck at the S5 bootscreen (then it reboots into recovery). Tried flashing OA1 instead with the same result. No clue where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT
It looks like you can't downgrade from 5.0 so I've been looking for a G870AUCU2BOF3 in a form that I can use with odin but with no luck. I found the stock rooted firmware but I don't know how to use that with odin.
Okay, so I found the stock firmware file in cfg format from another thread. I renamed it to update.zip and put it on my micro sd card but I'm getting an I/O error when trying to read the SD card with Android Recovery.
Reformatted the SD card from NTFS to exFAT and put the update.zip on it again and now its verifying the update from android recovery. I'll update when I know if it worked.
There were a couple errors when trying to verify the update.zip file. Something errored in sideload (status 7).
Must have had the wrong cfg file because it was like 1.3 gigs and just failed all the time. Downloaded a 300 meg cfg file from a thread on XDA specific to the G870A and it worked. I have a usable phone again!
EDIT
Here is a link for anyone who needs it.

How can I create update.zip file from the Odin files?

Hello,
So I flashed Pie via update.zip file compatible with my device, but not from my country and now the February update was pushed 2 weeks ago, but I still don't have OTA. I have the Odin files from Sammobile, but I don't want to flash them via Odin and rather again sideload update.zip file. Any way that I can do that?
Nope. However, you might still receive ota, depending what you've done, or indeed end up using odin to return to ota path
