Hi all.
I've used standart OS for a long time and I decided to install CM10 (JB) using Clockwork Recovery 6.0.1.8.
First of all, have installed Clockwork and put CM10 and Gapps in sdcard.
After that, i start tablet in recovery mode and 've installed CM10 via Clockwork. Without rebooting, i have installed Gapps also via Clockwork.
But i forgot to wipe device before that
So after rebooting i got animated video with triangles. Waiting for 20 minutes... nothing. After 30, i switched off device pressing power button.
After switching it on, there is that triangles...
I have entered to recovery and wipe all data, but device freezed on cleaning cache. I had no choice and reboot it.
But he kept silence, lol. Nothing happened, black screen. Recovery also didn't work.
Connecting to PC... Found XPA device (or not XPA, i forgot). So i googled about it and download and install special driver.
Now device defines as NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for Mobile devices.
Odin cant see the device, ofc. Recovery isn't working.
nvflash --sync:
Code:
Nvflash started
rcm version 0X4
Command send failed (usb write failed)
(After this comand, device autounplugged)
I don't know what to do, please help me to recover my brick.
kudos on the full and clear report.
but too many parallel threads for same issue

Could you tell us what kernel are you using? Apparently, from what i read in this forum cm10 with old HC kernel will not brick while wipe. Thanks.

I have a Mytouch 3G running test 7 on my phone, and i just installed the clockworkmod rom manger. After, installed it i wanted to flash a new rom, so flashed the clockwork mod recovery, and when i tried to install the new rom from the sd card, it keeps on getting stuck on the mytouch screen, and nothing happens. How do i get into the recovery screen? thanks
First: This belongs in Q & A !!!!111
Which ROM did you flash? Maybe you had to wipe before
right now, i'm running cyanogen test-7, but when i go into the clockworkmod rom manger app and pick the flash rom from sd card, it just says it has to go to the recovery, and then my phone will reset and it would just get stuck on the mytouch screen. So, i just pull out the battery and reset the phone again, and i realized if i press the end button, it will go the rom that is already on the phone. I'm i suppose to push some buttons or something to get to the recovery screen?
No it should flash the rom you select and reboot the phone to boot the new rom without keypress needed.
maybe the wrong device was selected when downloading the recovery image? Try reinstalling clockworkmod recovery from rom manager.
Mod edit: not dev related, moved to q&a
I have the same problem.
I downloaded and installed Rom Manager from the Market and it has completely screwed up my recovery (I can't get into it at all). I tried flashing Amon's again (through Rom Manager) and it still doesn't work.
HTC G1. CM5.07 test 7 (trying to go to stable!).
Your recovery has been corrupted, you will need to flash it through fastboot.

Connect to your PC via USB, and from the command line issue "fastboot erase recovery" and then "fastboot flash recovery filename.img"
More on common fastboot commands here can be found on these forums, i'm not allowed to post links.
i connected my phone to my computer but nothing on my computer pops up. only the new hardware wizzard pops up. what do i do from here? im i suppose to get a adb popup? how do i set up the fast boot? i'm so confused..thanks
some one, please help..i want to be able to flash new roms in the future...thanks in advance
Can I sugges that you try this sticky thread at the top of this forum board.
It contains all you need to know on who to set up fastboot and how to use it - there are a couple of tutorials on it if you read through the thread.
CM 5.0.7 for Dream/Sapphire introduced a bug in flash_image. It causes recovery flashes to fail. It has since been fixed in the latest test of 5.0.8 I believe.
Man i have the same darn bug cant get back into recovery for nothing, and i dont have a pc to fastboot i have a non intel based mac so no adb or fastbooting, i have been doing fine for forever without adb or fastboot but is there any way around this one, i need help bad, im on HTTClay Superbadv1.3 and it has all sorts of bugs but i cant nandroid or bart or flash any rom without recovery, can someone please help!!!
Also is there another way to erase the recovery partition?
Hi all you clever guys I need your help!
Yesterday I decided to try making myself a new theme for my O2X and now I'm stuck in boot.
I have flashed my phone many times before but now I feel like an idiot.
Please advice me on how to save my phone.
After making the theme using a theme generator I found here on XDA I installed the zip file via Recovery mode and booted my phone. It then looped in the LG startup image.
I wiped the phone and ran back up in Recovery mode then tried rebooting but no luck.
I have also tried to flash with my last used Custom ROM but the phone is now stuck in boot and only shows the screen with the LG logo and process bar.
Please advice me on what I can do to save my phone.
On top of it all I have a problem with my PC so I can not install the LG PC suite SW and can not connect my phone to the PC via USB.
Why on earth did I do this....
Dont worry at all, are you sure you have wiped your data and cache partition? Do this and then flash some ROM (can recommend latest CM7 build).
If its a no go, you can always flash original firmware with nvflash (there's a tutorial for this, just look it up)
Hope I helped
All you need to do is reflash the current rom you are using now without a wipe and that will fix you problem.
If you get bootloop from something you have just flashed just reflash the current rom without a wipe and that will fix ya problem, for next time hey????
Can you get in to recovery??
Hi
Thanks for your inputs and help! Currently downloading NVFlash on my PC and will try it out.
Yes I can enter recovery by pressing vol down key and power button at the same time. (thank Good for that!)
do a full wipe in recovery and flash the rom of your choice, just make sure you have the correct ext 3 or 4 or you will get bootloop
Hey y'all.
Please help me. My P990 is stuck right after the LG logo on bootup.
First of all, this is what ive done:
1. Rooting the phone - succesful
2. Following the guide to install CyanogenMod 7.1.0 (stable) ROM - succesfull
- Nandroid backup
- Wipe all data + cache
- Can't remember it all really lol, but i had cyanogenmod working succesfully!
3. I wanted "voodoo sound", therefor i was told i had to flash a new kernel, which was working to cyanogenmod - thats why i chosed this kernel: vorkKernel-OC/UV Kernel for CM[20111105] which can be found here on xda, sorry i cant link yet - so what i did was downloading the .apk file, and in there, i could choose some things to get with it, and then download the .zip to flash from recovery mode. So i downloaded, flashed it from Clockworkmod recovery and it finished succesfully. So i rebooted my phone, it came with the "LG", then the logo (without animation) and then just black screen.
I feel like i cant do anything. As always when i try to open recoverymode (power + vol. down) it comes with: "S/W Update" (while flashing and nandroid backuping ive used ROM Manager's function "Boot to recovery".)
Ive tried to press any buttons.
Ive tried to plug my phone to the computer, no effekt.
Im really lost! Please help me
Thanks.

Sounds like a boot loop. Check filesystem compatibility of the kernel you flashed. Might not be compatible with the one previously used by CM.
you should wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache if you want to flash the kernel. and in order to get work your phone again, you should nvflash cause your phone can't do anything
You're trying to enter recovery wrong. Hold both power and vol- for around 10secs. If you're getting S/W Update, you're only holding volume down.
vokkernal, how to make it work?
Hi, even I tried that, I got the same error... Can anyone suggest a way to make it work, or if any step is missing?
By the way, I used the latest Version on Cynogenmod (stable) (update-cm-7.1.0-Optimus2X-signed.zip), vokkernal app.
Thanks
Very sorry for slow answer!
Anyone can link a guide for a working NVFlash ? ive tried but it comes up with an "uid read fail" ind the cmd box, after the "Nvflash started" ???

hmm, I had the same problem trying to enter recovery, You have to press vol down and then power. If you do it at the same time sometimes doesnt work. So try pressing it before power and keep them pressed until you see the LG Logo (but the one with a bit of blue light) then you can't unpress them.
Download smartflash and download stock rom along with baseband and flash it using smartflash by pulling out battery from phone press volumedown and insert usb cable and soon check procedure in xda forum.i garuntee you it will work as i faced same issue

Hi,
So I finally got my first error. :crying:
I did a reboot from an app called quick reboot to recovery, and now I am stuck in CWM bootloop.
The sad thing is that I went into recovery to do a nandroid so doing a restore from that backup didn't help.
Any way to fix this without flashing the device back to stock?
Thanks!
Edit:
Sorry, forgot to mention I am running cocore 3.9 kernel with deodexed JB.

You know how to use ADB shell? You need to install any other kernel with dd command, or try to do "reboot" from ADB shell in recovery.
I have used the ADB shell on a sony xperia phone so I know more or less how to use it.
Do I need to install any additional files for my phone, or is the ADB ready for my phone (in the xperia I had to get the google usb driver and update it to be able to get into fastboot mode)?
How do I get the phone to be recognized by ADB if i'm stuck in recovery mode?
Which commands do I need to run to reboot the device?
Ok, this is weird. It is fixed by itself
I actually didn't do anything.
I removed the battery again to turn the device off.
I got the cable plugged to my PC (the device showed the charging logo) then turned the device on (to get ready to use ADB).
Surprise surpise the device booted up normally.
I had already tried the process of removing the battery, and did multiple reboot from the CWM option, with no success before.
Now to try to understand.
What just happened?
Why did it get stuck in the recovery bootloop in the first place (I have used this app on GB, so it should also work on JB)?
How did it fix itself? Connecting the cable before the device was on "freed it" somehow?
Most importantly what do you need to do if that happens in the future?
If you have any advice how to backtrack what happened, I would be glad also to share for other users who might come across this situation.

What happend is the problem with J4FS driver in system (kernel). So do not use Reboot recovery untill it is fixed in kernel.
Probably removing battery reseted it, and you could go to system normaly.

But I just now succeeded going into recovery the normal way (turn off device -> vol up+home+power) 3 times (also did another nandroid :good and back to system with no problems. So I am guessing there is a bug when trying to reboot to recovery with the app?
If removing the battery did the trick why didn't it work the first time I did it?

Problem is with doing command "reboot recovery" while you are booted in system. That does not consider going there by using hardware buttons. For ability to use reboot recovery from some app you need fixed J4FS driver in kernel. I got bootloop to recovery too with some version of CoCore. Now you can't do anything untill it is fixed. Look at kernels thread for updates, and report your problem.
About that solution, I do not know. I solved it with flashing other kernel from recovery with ADB shell and DD command. Didn't try anything else.
Thank you!
I will notify cocafe of the bug.
Hey folks,
I have very strange problem with CWM. I installed CWM clean without ROM via All-in-one toolkit. So, when i turn up the phone, it boots directly into the CWM, of course. Then mounts and storage --> USB mount (or something like that) and I transferred Cyanogen 10. It doesnt shows any error any time i install rom. But when i restart the phone, it stays around 1 minute at the LG logo and then...CWM again...
I tried many times to do this with different roms, but without success. No matter of the ROM, it just boots CWM directly.
Please, help. I will very appreciate it.
Flash twrp with aio and download a rom that fits your bootloader
