Dose Carrier provider require certain application - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dose Carrier provider require certain application?
I stopped one service called Remote Controls .
I thought this service is used for mobile tracking by Samsung Dive.
when i changed my sim card to another carrier this application (Remote Controls) started, and displayed on task bar trying to connect to server with no success.
the icon is two arrows (black and white),
when I enabled this service again this icon disappeared from task bar.
so does this mean this app required by this carrier provider?

Does anyone know what can cause the roaming traffic within our Diamonds?

STK service Problem

Hi!
I get a message saying "Thank you for using STK services" everytime i switch on my mobile or everytime i change back from airline mode. this message then keeps on popping up everytime i receive or make a call. It keeps on popping up till i go to my service providers menu and close it by saying exit. can anyone help me to remove this problem?
My phone is HTC Touch Diamond and operating system is WM 6.1
My question seemed unnecessary. The solution is quite simple. just load the BSB tweaks on your phone. it shows you the status of STK services. turn it off
stk service problem
Hi!
using BSB tweaks for truning off stk services will turn off all the services and you will not be able to use any of the service provided by your carrier. The problem may have caused if this happens;
1. you use stk service, any one.
2. instead of selecting exit from menu, if you close the application using 'x'
3. you may start getting the problems of stk service message, everytime you restart the sim. one way of solving the problem is to visit every service provided by the carrier and exit from the service using exit from menu and not operating the 'x' button. at least my problem was solved because of this.

Just a quick solution if by any reason your Vivid stops from sending SMS.
Tried multiple things so the reason of this post is to avoid you the waste of time my loss your gain
In my case was as simple as call my Network provider and ask for the "SMS Service Center" In my case my network provider is Claro in Costa Rica and the Service Center is +50670000400
Steps assuming that you're running ICS.
1-Open Messages.
2-Open the Menu.
3-Select Settings.
4-Select Text messages (SMS)
5-Select service Center.
6-Introduce the number given by your network provider.
7-Test it.
8-Still same issue? then reboot the phone.

[Q] Cell broadcast settings on HTC One Dual Sim

Hi,
Can anyone PLEASE tell me where I can find the cell broadcast settings on an HTC one dual sim? I keep getting about 20 messages per hour from number 50 that contain only my network name! I called the network and they couldn't help me!
I already looked through all the settings I could think of and didn't find anything!
In the Settings>Call I have the following listed:
-Slot 1 call settings
-Slot 2 call settings
-Phone settings
In the slot settings:
-FDN
-Call forwarding
-Call barring settings
-Additional settings
Any input will be much appreciated!! :good:

my solution
I jaut solved this problem, i used following steps
1. Put sim card in other phone that has cell broadcast setting
I user desire hd
2. Disable cell broadcast and disable message from channel 50 if available else
Disabling cell broadcast should do the job
3. Restart to check if cell bbroadcast is still disabled
4. Remove sim and put in ur htc dual sim
5. There should be no more messages from 50
Enjoy...
This thread is very old and am afraid I come too late.
With my X9, All messages > three dots at the upper right corner > Settings > Slot 1/2 Cell Broadcast, uncheck those boxes, voila~!

Dual Sim Assigning Contacts

Hello, just wondering if its possible to assign contacts to either sim1 or sim2, especially for outgoing calls.....i.e. personal contacts vs. business? Ive checked online and some of the solutions dont exist for oreo.
I know there are 3rd party apps that can do this but was hoping to be able to do it on the stock rom.
Thanks
Not on the stock ROM, no.
The closest thing to that is just remembering to hit the correct dial button from your contact list (i.e. SIM1 or SIM2), since you're presented with both options in the contact details.
Thanks, what about a custom Rom?
Its only a big deal when your in your car connected to bluetooth ....you select to dial a number then it just sits there until you pickup the handset and select which sim to use. Defeats the purpose of hands-free.

I haven't dared to try anything other than the stock ROM and I have no intention to. The phone works extremely well for me as it is. Why not just tap whichever handset symbol with the SIM number you want to call with? There is a setting where it will ask you if you really want to use a SIM card that's not your default upon dialling or messaging but that's a global default, not a contact-specific default.
At any rate, it's just a matter of tapping the correct icon to dial out on the correct SIM and you only have a 50% chance of getting it wrong. Don't become too reliant on automation. Even GM and Tesla wound back the use of auto-robots to build their cars.

Tapping the symbol is absolutely not an option if you are using e.g. your car's infotainment. You can use your contact list and pick anyone you want, but after that you can call or text, there are no other options. If you don't have a preferred SIM for calls, the call initialization will abort.
Shame on Samsung for not having any option for binding the contacts to any of the SIMs. Most of the users buy dual SIM phones for using office/privat SIM with the same phone, no question that almost everyone needs the possibility of binding most of the contacts to one of the SIMs.
