I've recently got the CM7 for my Galaxy Ace, unfortunately I forgot to back-up my Notes, now they're all gone
I got like everything in my real life saved in there, all of my bank acc information/visa password, and some other important notes for my study
is there anyway I could these notes restored, ANYWAY ???? please guys.
Hmm before installing new rom you had to wipe all data so I think i could be gone if it was saved in the internal memory. But try to search ur sd card also.. in furure I reccommend you to use Titanium Backup

So i finally flashed my first custom ROM, yeah!
BUT i pulled a bonehead move and forgot to copy contacts to the sd card I did do a full apps & data backup in TiBu before flashing. Now obviously the new rom has apps already loaded so i can't just drop the backup folder on the sd or it will overwrite the existing one, can i rename the one i backed today and restore from that one? OR can i just restore contacts somehow from the backup?

If you made a nandroid backup, you can restore it and try again.
You have an android phone, are your contacts synced with gmail? If not, you should start saving your contacts to gmail. I never backup contacts, I use gmail and Facebook to store my contacts.
If you didn't make a backup before you flashed your phone, and you didn't sync them with gmail ... how did you transfer them to your captivate originally? Do you still have that data?

If you did the full apps and data backup.. i believe your contacts "should" still be there. Go into tibu and to the backup/restore tab.. scroll down and it will be one of them that is in Green. I think says something along the lines of contacts. If you click that and then hit data only.. It "Should" restore your contacts. After you do that, you need to reboot your phone before you will see the contacts.
Now, however, it also depends on what Rom you put on. I have done this twice. The first time was when i installed Cog 3.04. I found out how to do that and i did it and my contacts went back on to my phone no problem.. Now, i have installed Andromeda 2.0 and when i tried to do that, swype bugs out like crazy . some bug with their new Rom that wont let you do it. I am guessing it has something to do with the app versions or something. Luckily for me, most of my contacts were saved through google.. so i got the most of them back. only missing a few ..
So, give this a try.. and see if that works for you..

I have a Google Nexus One phone that I joyfully used for 1.5yr. I have a Whatsapp that is linked to a phone number that no longer in service, but I still happen to receive messages from that phone number, now and then.
Now I am moving to Galaxy Tab 7.7 (no forum in here yet), but how do I migrate the old Whatsapp no to the new device witout re-activating it? Is there any backup software that can migrate the whatsapp with all the functionalities/message history without reactivating the phonr? Please help, I'm reallt stucked. thanks a lot.
What is the best backup Android apps without rooting the phone?
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA App
I am not too sure on the app itself as I don't use it, but using another app to back it up without root, most likely, isn't possible. Android locks each app to itself to limit security risks.
Whatsapp backs up it's messages every night to your sd card (assuming that option is selected in whatsapp settings) as well as on internal memory. If you download whatsapp to another phone, but use the same sd card in that phone, on launch, it'll ask if you want to restore the messages.
If you have root -use titanium backup and restore on the new phone.
Download Titanium Backup
Backup App+Data
Put SD Card in new device
Restore App+Data. Done.
Hit Thanks if this helped.

Titanium Backup requires root access...
do settings>more>chat history backup. Then look for the whatsapp folder on the sd and move that to the new device and that might work maybe. whatsapp might need the original number to also be verified on the new device which might prevent you from using that backup. You really need root to solve a root problem though.
question, if i get a new number in a new country, will i still be able to get my old life long account back?
Backup chats on sd card -> move to new phone -> install whatsapp -> restore from backup. Or use a 3rd party android whatsapp transfer utility to help.

Hey all,
please I need a help! .. I'm asking if there is a solution to back my apps and pictures .. etc, 'cause today I lost all my apps and pics, videos
and thank you !
Could you be more specific ? What happened exactly?
If you did a format of your sd while flashing a rom, and you did not made a backup of anysorts(using Titaniumapp , nandroid) then you`re pretty much screwed.

Help
I'm going to jump on this thread as I need help too. My Samsung Galaxy 19000 started turning itself off and back on a few days ago and today it has a blank internal memory and sd card. I have lost all my apps, pics music etc. Is there any way to get these back? My phone won't connect to my pc anymore too.
Your Apps should be eaysily recreated with your google account. Have you installed kies to your PC in order to have the driver installed?
---------- Post added at 04:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:38 PM ----------
But I really d`ont understand what you`ve done, because the only way to loose all these things is to format the internal SD card. Even if you would have done a full wipe, the private data would still be there and before doing this there are normall two request like : Do you really want to do this? If you do this all your data will be lost.
Stupid thing. Virus?
My phone says available internal storage - none and same with SD card. I'm going to take it back methinks
This program let you backup your files to pc. Somewhere is a thread about it but i cant find it

Titanium backup and backup master are two good apps you can use to back up your stuff.
However, sometimes Titanium created some stability issues when I restored apps after flashing.
If you have accidentally formatted your FAT32/NTFS sd card.
You can use a basic windows utility for file recovery. "Recuva" is simple to use. It works well, as long as the card hasn't had new data added.
Recuva

hi there, got two galaxy notes at home, one is mine one is my GF's
hers got a scratch and she's very sad about it. since i don't mind that much i am willing to swap our devices.
what's the best way of doing it now?
i'm sporting a rooted and paranoided rom, she's on stock.
just rooted her's with philz latest kernel, i'm currently backing her phone up
will it work if i just swap the sdcards and perform a restore on both phones?
i'll just have then to swap internal sd cards using a pc isn't it?
thanks guys.

I think there'll be data corruption as it's between stock and cm based as they're different frameworks, most things should be ok, but I think some apps will not restore ok. It might be easier to do a titanium backup of data and just restore that rather than setting etc.
Much the same with sd card as the mount points are different.

well, i tried to backup on an external SD her phone but it was too small for the task so i just made the backup on the internal memory of the phone.
now i saved all the content of her internal memory on my pc and am about to do the same with my own.
i will try to copy then my own note's data on her note and vice versa then restore the backups.
would that not overwrite any framework?

The framework is built in to the rom, so not over writable. To do a safe transfer make your new phone cm based then you can safely transfer. If your gonna leave it as tw, then it won't work.

what happens if i restore a recovery backup from a phone into another phone?

So long as you have safe kernel in the one you're restoring to it should be fine. That being said, it's likely you'll have to perform full wipes to have secure boot up between cm based and Touchwizz.

got it done. it worked flawlessly to port the stock to the other phone, just had some headache with mediascanner but solved it removing external sd card
the other move was a lil more painful becouse i forgot to copy the right backup... so had to flash everything again. lucky me i had a titanium backup laying around...
Good news mate, well done.

Hi,
i just flashed a new ROM and when i went to restore my apps and data from TB i realize that all numbers in the batch tab are 0!!!
First i had the backup in the external sdcard. I move them to the internal and nothing.

Did you search for and select the "Backup folder" in the settings of TB?
When switching to JB the mount points of the cards changed and so the old backup folder "moved". Check this.
dont use backup apps, they mess stuff up like this, crossinfect roms with junk and old versions and corrupt stuff. and then blame the rom, sheesh, good you dont do that.
Android should be build better with backups in mind, my 2cents
Hi,
I solved it. In the end it just was that TB for some reason loaded the user filter, so obviously the backed up app won't show
