Never really noticed until I read this but mine is actually doing it just a little on both sides of the keyboard. They are sending you a new one just cause it is doing that?
Called and verizon had no problem sending me a new one

Yeah if its a new phone, they usually have no problem exchanging it out and making you happy.... they don't want a refund

ah, there is definitely a wear problem there. looks like the sliding mecahnism is scratching the paint. that's too bad, i really like this phone. my guess is a replacement will do the same thing. maybe some protective tape around the bezel will fix the issue.
I have had mine for a little over a week, use the keyboard for everything and dont have this issue.
I can see a spot where the screen slides its a little darker than the rest but does not seem to be removing the paint or anything like that.

i ran my fingernail over the area and it's definitely scratched. the question is the durability of the paint. i've only had my phone since Friday evening of last week and i'm already noticign the wear.
I haven't had any scratching when I slide it up

I've had mine for about a week and I haven't noticed any peeled paint, it doesn't feel rough or scratched either.

wow! mine is definitely not that bad. yet.
I'm using the snap on case for the holster, and I know when I slide it out, I can feel some dragging.
With it off though, smooth as silk.
I never put a case on my phone. Why take away the beauty of it. I have insurance and warranty if something goes wrong or breaks.

Yeah I'm having the same issue. I've had it for about a month now, and a while ago I would hear a scraping when the phone opens. I noticed there are two clips underneath the screen that probably help the phone STAY closed/open. This is where the scraping is for me. Mine is pretty bad at this point, now have silver lines about half a cm thick on the back of my screen. Pretty sad. I know the OG Droid had this issue after alot of wear and time, but this is early. :'(
Do you carry the phone in your back pocket? looks like compression scratches.
No. Only had that current phone for two days before i noticed it.

You know it could be, we have gorilla glass on our phones.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
No, we actually don't have Gorilla Glass...
Here's a list of devices that include it: http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/full-products-list.
Even so, Cornig mentions that not all devices where it is present are mentioned, but I'd think if it were then we would have seen it mentioned in the ads.
Someone said that it has.
I'll check with Samsung

I don't think the list is complete, though...
Yes, I already said that... I just think that if Gorilla Glass was present, then Samsung would have made a fuss about it in the documentation.

Yes it does. I've tried to scratch it using a box cutter, keys, coins, and not a single scratch. Sand however is a whole different issue, it'll scratch it in a heartbeat.
I thought also it could have Gorilla Glass, I keep my phone in my pocket with coins and got no scratches at all so I think you are right.

I knew it, now we all know the truth about our screens. Great.

Weird thing that Samsung is not mentioning it in the ads.
Maybe Gorilla Glass is now standard in most phones
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app
I think Samsung use Gorilla Glass on most screen's of new phones now.

Use sandpaper and this so called Gorilla Glass will take a crap.
Yep so I've heard, but still it has a toughened screen.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
Yeah that's true, but I'd keep it away from sandy beaches.
Ha ha I agree

Here you will find a list of all phones with Gorilla Glass but some are not listed ; http://m.corninggorillaglass.com/smartphone/#_Productsfull

Are you sure that S3 mini doesnt have gorilla glass? I think it does...
Sent from my GT-I8190N using xda app-developers app
Some say we do others say we don't. Top of the page it mentions that your device may not be listed but could have gorilla glass. Someone in this forum got in touch with Samsung and they said they were not sure. Don't make sense to me that they don't know either.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
Yes, I saw that... but i had a chance to play a bit with some devices which have gorilla glass. s3 mini screen and those others are pretty similar.
Sent from my GT-I8190N using xda app-developers app
I don't t think that it has gorilla glass.
I had gorilla glass on my previous phone and it was more resistable than this glass.
This one scratches fast
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app
You could be right, it don't like sand though so a few people have mentioned before.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
But then again on some pages they say it has it, so where could they get those informations? Maybe there are versions that has it and those that dont like those that have nfc antenna in battery out of the box and others dont (little extreme idea, but possible )
Sent from my GT-I8190N using xda app-developers app
Yeah you maybe right, its very possible.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
I've had the ONE about a week and I've been babying it until my case arrives this coming week. Well I noticed today there are surface scratches on the screen already. I thought the gorilla glass would be better but damn these scratches are annoying me... Lol my ocd I guess. Any way to get rid of them or do I have to live with them forever. Thanks
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
You can't get rid of them but if you put a screen protector on it will hide them.
I've heard if you always clean your screen your more likely to get scrathes! Having a oily screen helps fight scratches by creating lubrication when your fingers are swiping etc.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
Yuck. I like my screens naked!
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
I cleaned it once with a cloth to clean glasses. But other than that it's just been regular use. Well as long as I try to forget and not pay attention hopefully it won't bother me. Thank ya for the replies.
