Isn't there a war going on practically next-door to you! I wouldn't be worried about your Touchpad...
But nevertheless, did you create a "cminstall" folder with CWM, CM9, Moboot, and GAPPs; then run the AcmeInstaller2 from the command prompt?
Perhaps you got a bad version of CWM! I would try AcmeUninstaller and do it again with a new download! :good:

You probably didn't rename clockwork with update- in front check out my post here it should have all the files you need correctly named plus a link to a good install guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30249437&postcount=624
I hope this helps.

Brings up a good point for posterity. Make sure you are using ACMEInstaller2, not just ACMEInstaller.

I have had a similar problem, installed CM9, ICS and moboot, didn't realise that I needed to change the Clockworkmod file name to update and didn't get CWM on my boot list.
I have, subsequently, edited the file name and re-run the installation from the novacom step, but this hasn't resolved the issue. Do I need to do a complete un-install and then try again? If so, is the ACME uninstaller the way to go and are there any instructions I need to be aware of.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for that sstar, only problem is that the file is not accessible due to bandwith issues.
I also already have the tenderloin file, (cm-9-20120923-NIGHTLY-tenderloin) but when I tried running ACMEInstaller 2 again, after renaming to updte-cm-9-20120923-NIGHTLY-tenderloin, it still didn't add CWM to the boot menu - I have to admit to being a bit confused, as a noob, so not sure quite where I've gone wrong.
I followed instructions I found on Liliputing (can't poost the link as a noob)

Pm sent, I will try to upload to another server.

ok youre naming the Clockworkmod Recovery wrong. remember theres CyanogenMod nightly roms and then theres ClockworkmodRecovery. the recovery never has nightly releases.
https://www.box.com/s/9fd332052819583a251c here this is the recovery zip file you want to have in the cminstall folder when you run acmeinstaller2. do not change its name, put the whole zip file as is into the cminstall folder.

Exactly what haxim said, I also edited my post with same CWR.

Thanks sstar and haxin for the help - have downloaded the correct file now and will put it in the cminstall folder and try the ACMEInstaller again, probably tomorrow though as it's getting late now.

How to install google addon to a ROM?

Hello, I installed CyanogenMod 5.0 lastnight and the market and a few other applications are not there, im guessing that is the google addon can anyone tell me in detail how to install that? Thanks
You need to flash to ER27 Google add on pack here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623496
Current link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jmmzywtlnjd/gapps-passion-ERE27-2-signed.zip
thanks...How do i flash it?
I would like to know also. I've gone into recovery and added the file to the SD card than tried to run it, only to tell it me it's not a zip. So I renamed it and also tried compressing it as zip(just to make sure) and I get an error.
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Download the add on from that page listed, place it on the root of your sdcard, reboot into recovery, flash it in recovery (the same way you flashed the ROM, but do not wipe), then reboot your phone.
That is exactly what I did. I sent a pm w/ more details. I tried covering all grounds just to make sure if one failed the other one would'nt.
Edit: Should USB debugging be on/off? Don't know if that makes a difference
Edit: Figured it out. Everytime i would downlad the file on my mac it would not be a .zip file so renaming it and compressing it did nothing. I downloaded it on my pc and voila, it works fine..weird...

This is because you enable auto open files in Safari. The actual zip file is in your Trash lol.
To disable it (and u should), open Preferences > General > Uncheck Open "safe" file after downloading

How to install the Google Addon?
You have to change the name of the file (ex: "gapps-mdpi-20101020-signed.zip") to "update.zip". Move it to your SDcard and then install from recovery.

You don't need to be in "Debuggin mode", neither to rename to "update.zip".. Just use ROM manager provided by cyanogenmod and go wiki :

Hello Dacid1171,
I installed Cyanogenmod 7.0.0, with no google apps of course.
I used gapps-gb-20110307-signed pack, went to recovery and chose "Install from SD card", just like I would if I was flashing new ROM.
After that the phone wouldn't book. Logo of cyanogenmod would appear with the circular arrow moving around it, after 3 round it stops and restarts all over.
It was kept that way for a very long time hoping that the phone will come to life. It wouldn't.
What did I do wrong?

Don't appologize for asking questions-we all need answers to one thing or another
The first thing you want to do is go to the android market and search for Rom Manager. You already have this installed if you are running CM7, but you need to update it to the newest version.
Then, Just open your app drawer and open up Rom Manager. When it opens, the very top line says "Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery". Tap on that, choose Nook Color, and it will update to the newest version 3.2.0.1.
Hope this Helps!
What's the best way to update recovery on sdcard? Mod manager only updates the internal flash..

I downloaded an updated version located HERE and extracted the files and attached them for you. Just download and unzip the files to your current CWM SD card.

Ok, thanks! So you can indeed copy the files as-is.. with Paleolithic dos 3.2 origin, I tend to expect you need to use special app to copy the system files. In any case, I've installed the boot menu on SD card so by defaults I boot internal flash. No need to lose sanity removing the easy-to-lose usd card.. I can also start the recovery from internal flash..

Yes, I have updated a couple times by just transferring the updated files onto my bootable CWM card. I have done a number of back-ups and restores without a problem. The files are self-contained file systems, so not much damage from a simple transferring of them. If you want to install a special app for windows to be able to update the SD card in the future, then I would download this very handy tool, ImDisk, it will allow windows to mount the updated img file and extract the files from it.

Checking Nightlies Install Method

Hi guys
I bought the HP for my 4 year old to play some educational games and movies. Therefore I didn't update it often, but every 2 weeks or so I would go to http://techerrata.com/browse/nightly_kangs/tenderloin and put the latest into the CMInstall directory and install it.
The last file on that page is 27.6.12 so I've been through the thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568685&page=1 and eventually found the new nightly downloads are at http://get.cm/?device=tenderloin&type=nightly
According to the instructions at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HP_Touchpad:_Full_Update_Guide putting the file in the CMinstall directory is the Acme method and the name must begin with update-cm.
Since the file names of the files I had been downloading don't start with this, I would have assumed I was using the recovery method, but the instruction page says that for the method, the file needs to be on an SD card.
Can I download the latest from http://get.cm/?device=tenderloin&type=nightly and put them into the cminstall directory even though they don't start with update-cm?
Thanks in advance.
First download the nightly. Then do all of the following.
Reboot and select clockwork.
Make a backup.
Clear cache
go to advanced and clear davlik cache
Fix permissions
Go back from advanced
Select install zip from SD card
Select download folder and install nightly.
Make sure that you have a full charge/plugged into charger as the backup and fix permissions can take up to 5 minutes.
Have fun.

You say to "Fix Permissions". I gather that, without having tried this before, that how to do this will be obvious.
Charging at the moment.
Thanks for the step-by-step.
The fix permissions is in the advanced bit of clockwork. Any problems pm me.
But it isn't to difficult

Thank you. All done without a hitch.
Loved the simple step by step reply.
I think I might even try updating my old HTC HD2 phone to ICS now.

new TP, where can I get working files??

every link i see in all the how toos are dead. Very awesome tutorials but NONE of the links work.
I got a bone stock TP and would love to get at least ICS going on it for my daughters B-Day.
Any one help or host for me?

There's a good lilliputing article that I'm sure you found with dead links. Use that, but Google for the exact file names; they're probably on goo.im.
Or Google the md5sum like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838804.
here these are links from my own box account. they will never be dead. ever.
https://www.box.com/s/479acdb6ef9c99fc7b92
all you really need to do initially is flash the moboot bootloader and the cwm-recovery to the touchpad. then everything else like roms and other zip installers you can just move them to the touchpad from your computer or whatever then flash them through CWM recovery. simple as that.
but if you want to just do it all at once then here is the link for the latest cm9-nightly
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/jenkins/9588/cm-9-20121007-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip
REMEMBER!!!! if you're going to install everything at once using acmeinstaller you MUST change the name of the cm-9-20121007-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip or it wont install with acmeinstaller. just add update- to the front of he name like this update-cm-9-20121007-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip
then here is the link for the correct gapps .zip file http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
same thing with the gapps zip you need to add update- to the name like this
update-gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
now when you have update-gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
update-cm-9-20121007-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip
update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip
and moboot_0.3.5.zip (only moboot doesnt need to have update- in the name) all inside the cminstall folder of the touchpad. then youre ready to get to work with the acmeinstaller.
enjoy!!

Contents of /boot

Happily running CM11 and just doing some clean up.
While installing I ran into the issue of running out of space in moboot, CWM only installed 1/2 way. Anyway I was able to clean up the dir enough to get CWM working and install CM11, but I noticed some other files in there that I don't think I need.
Can someone who has recently done a clean install (Acmesunstall - Acmeinstall) post the contents of their /boot dir. please.
