Batery problems - LG Optimus 2x

4 days ago i was watching videos in you tube when sudenly my battery drop to 1% and then it shut down, i have try to turn it on but it didnt work, i went to my carrier shop and thry change my battery for free but with this new one i have another problems:
I have a huge battery drain followed by a big level of temperature, my batery burn in my hands when i use it, i left the phone chargin the whole night and it when from 100% to 51% just because i reboot it.
I dont think is the phone, i flash v20s rebuild 3 times...
So what should i do? Go change it again or just flash it with the flash tool?
A huge thanks for those who can help me
Good luck

Try wiping battery stats/calibrating the battery (I assume you're rooted) and check battery use to see if any apps are probably drainig it in the background. A factory wipe and reflash would be a good idea too.

Smartflash it with other baseband, maybe helps.

You could always root it after you've flashed v20s rooted stock rom is actually quite decent, after you've freezed the bloatware!

But what do you think? Its a h/w problem? Is the battery?

It can be software as well.
You can use the BetterBatteryStats app to see if any apps prevent the phone from sleeping or do other inefficient things.
Since I got the phone 1,5y ago I once or twice also had that the reported battery level was not in sync with the actual battery level. That was when I was draining the battery on purpose after wiping the battery stats and gaming on the phone while the LED flashlight was on It suddenly went from 40% to off.

Phone/Battery screwed up

Hi guys!!
My phone is seriously screwed up. I'll get to the story.
A couple of nights ago, I couldn't copy files to sd card both from the phone and the computer. So I took it out and tried to format it in Windows but failed. So then I tried to format in linux and succeeded :good:
Then I tried to copy files to it, eventhough it seemed like files were copied, when I tried to read it again after ejecting the card, it was empty No files were copied!!
My SD card had failed and so I removed the SD card and let the phone be. ROM was CK MIUI 2.4.6. I noticed that battery started to drain faster through the night; around 40% for 8 hours
I tried using various other ROMs, tried the battery friendly CM9 too - both elols and rcset's. Still no avail. :crying: :crying:
I think its a hardware error. Can I claim my warranty??

Yeah try to claim the warranty and see what happens, good luck. And please don't change your phone.
My Experience with Service Center in Bangalore was good .. they gave me a replacement phone (Some cheap dual SIM phone) when i had issues with display and wanted to replace it .
Lead time given was 1 week as it had to be sent to some central location but they guy called me up within 3 days and asked me to come and collect my phone ..
So they treat the Mi 400 owners well as it was the costliest phone in there arsenal some time back .
@whyzee, any updates on the phone and battery backup?

no bro, not yet. The phone is still with me and I'm currently getting ~19 hr usage with only calls/msg.
I'm on Bumblebee and I'm getting nice backup, can you try it once (ya I know it still has ICV) but gives nice backup and each and every feature works (excl. FM, HDMI) or sharp Modded (.35) Fix1 which also gives nice backup, but the condition is that you need to stay on any of these 2 ROMs for few days and not flash any other ROMs immediately, I've seen that constantly flashing ROMs also reduces battery backup no matter on which ROM you are on (means you don't get good battery backup even if you are on battery friendly ROM), if you want you can try it as a last solution...

Hi Whyzee
First how old your battery is and did the service center guys replaced the battery?
Do one thing wipe everything, cache, delvik cache battery stats and revert to stock GB for sometime. then check the performance for your device and tell us
I'm on sharp mod fix 1 and getting better battery life (I think) currently testing it and update after a few days

When u flash a rom recharge it to 90% first time and then 100% the next time. Will report tomorrow

Cyanogenmod 7.2 battery life

How's u guys battery life on CM 7.2? On my Ace, it seems that the battery is discharging much faster than the stock rom.
What would you suggest? I read something about battery life kernels, but not sure what to do.
Thanks,
It seems it may be a false battery charge indication. I saw a couple other threads about this. i tried a calibration app, but it didnt work. I even charged to 100% and reset in clockwork. As soon as i unplug, it went down to 92%, then 10 min later, 80%. This is just on standby!
Any ideas?
Battery calibration is a myth! The battery_stats.bin file only has info for the battery use screen.
Not sure about it now, but cm7.2 used to have battery drain problems.
What rom are you you using?

Battery calibration is not a myth, the myth is saying that helps you battery life, what it really does is give you a more accurate reading of the battery charge. Your battery will have the same life.
Your battery life on any CM will drain faster than on a stock rom, maybe a bit better, but not much of a difference.
You need to charge your phone to 100 %, check in settings, about phone, state (i have my rom in spanish, so i don't know if it will say "state" it's just a guess) and the first option you will see says "Battery State" and it should say "Charged" or something that tells you that it's done charging.
I mean, when u charge your phone, although u can see that your battery is full, you should wait until in the lockscreen says "charged" instead of "charging" or something like that.
Hope it helps!
I am in the process of calibrating right now. I charged to 100% and now im draining completelto 0%. Then recharging back to 100% with no breaks. I got these instructions from another thread. Ive got every radio on (gps wifi bluetooth) and the torch. Been that way for over 2 hours and it says 16% right now. Ill let u all know what happens. Thanks again!
Oh im on the last cooper version that says stable. I had trouble with thr touchscreen not working right on nightly for some reason. Any known issues with this one?
Cyanogenmod have battery problems, especially if you are using an unofficial version. If this is your case, you can try use firekernel, otherwise use the official one, some say it have the best battery life.

Be careful, force the phone to discharge fast can decrease the battery life. I think the best to do is use it normally during the day till the battery finish and look if is there some application using lots of cpu or if the deep sleep is working right.
Watch for the torch app, the app itself says that u should keep it on 20 min maximum i think.
I didnt tried nightly, sorry!
I did try stable and everything worked perfect i think so it should be fine

i hear ya. i dont think i burned out the flash led. i left the phone on all night (not the torch) and it finally died. Stayed on 8% for at least an hour! so now i have to charge it back to 100% with no breaks.

how long is it that you have your phone?? battery could be damage maybe? :S
if u want to stick with cm, you can flash Apocalypse rom, based on cm 7.2, it has very good battery life. Using a based stock rom u could try the sg s2 version 9 (based on stock rom) with very good battery life too and very fast

Should i just backup with clockwork or use titanium? I have alot of time invested in cm 7.2 stable. I hate to lose it.
Also can i just copy the backup folder to my pc without damaging it?
Thanks for the help!

What do you mean?
I have not rooted my ace yet and had been reading tons of documents on the pros and cons of rooting and most of them if not all of them were saying that CM aids longer batter life. Here you seem to contradict that claim.
Can you please explain?
Thanks.

CyanogenMod basically means = fast (besides nice looking haha) and it also has different options to save battery (i don't remember an example of one of them), but being fast costs you battery life. For example, Apocalypse Final version with blackhawk kernel with antutu benchmark gave me a 2200 score (without oc), with firekernel (the one that brings the rom) it gave me a a number much lower (i think it was 1900). But using sgs2 v9, the one im using right now, it gives me a 1900 score and i can say it is fast enough and battery lasts longer that using any cm version.
i know bechmarks are not exactly, it's just to explain my point of view.
With cm u can have good battery life too but in a stock based rom battery will always (or 80 % of the cases) be better.

i use cwm AND titanium, just in case. I like to have a barebone ROM and then installing the apps and data i want. For some apps i want the data too and some apps i want only the app.

Yes, it's usually what most people do, leave the original copy of the nandroid backup on your sd and make a copy of it and save it in your pc. Then if everything went well after flashing the rom you can just erase the copy of your pc
i just did a backup with both. the CW backup is much larger. Is this because it backed up the whole rom? Like a clone of the phone?

Battery PROBLEM !

So I tried installing some scripts on my phone, and managed to brick my phone so I flashed it back to default kernel and again installed gingerdx on my phone ... I charged it whole night ... when I woke up ...battery 100% ... I restarted my phone .... battery 40% ... DAFUQ ?! ... in proccess of restarting I cleared my battery stats ... now I am trying to use all the battery till 0% ... then recharge it to 100% and clear it again ...
But this never happened to me ... actually with gingerdx I had pretty great battery life ...
U got any idea what is going on?

well I would just like .. you know, to have normal battery ... charge- 100% ... and by using the phone it will go: 100%-99%-98%-97% etc...
But right now it's like ... charging-100%, restart- 80% - 2 mins use - 65% ... It's kinda annoying ...
It's pretty ok right now guys .. I let it charge yesterday for maybe 5 hours, by one reboot it went to 98%..... but it's ok ... right now ... after about 12 hours of not charging and 30 min use, 2 min talk, battery is at 89% ...

Maybe a problem inside the battery...

Any suggestions?
just a suggestion, try draining the battery first, turn the brightness to the max, until it shutdown automatically. then charge it to the fullest while its off or maybe leave it for a couple of hours. hope that helps
Faulty battery I'm guessing if all ROMs have same result. Don't buy cheap Chinese batteries though, get an original or trusted replacement like mugen/anker

I have a 2 month old original battery in my note. I noticed screen flickering a week ago which is a sure sign the battery is past its prime.
Still, some questions:
Have you dropped this phone?
Are you still running stock android? root?
Did you overclock / undervolt anything?
How often is this happening?
Is the phone hot when this happens?
Ofcourse,I've dropped it many times.I think problem also because of that droppings only.Running on stock firmware. No overclock. Can't say how often....The phone won't be hot but may be sometimes I feel slight hotter.

There is no guarantee that a custom rom can help, but it is much easier than dealing with hardware issue. Definitely should try a custom rom 4.12 to see if it helps.

Personally, my next step would be opening it up, remove all the dust(if any) and check all connections.
If that does not help, you have a problem.
If all fails, consider maybe overvolting and/or underclocking.?
