[Q] Weird problem with root

SuperOneClick made me question something.. I tried to root my phone today for the first time.SuperOneClick sayes that it has been rooted already .And when i try to unroot it it sayes that it has never been rooted.Any ideas?

Download terminal emulator. Type su then press enter.. if $ become # you are rooted

Maybe you need to update binaries in superuser? not sure though, just a suggestion.

How did you root your device? I once experienced that too, I just tried another flashable zip to root and worked fine. Try re-rooting your phone. In what thread did you get the method?
EDIT: Try updating the superuser app too. might help? good luck

tried upd_1.zip,root.zip(9xx.kb),acegingerroot.zip and super SU.zip

Replace the su file in xbin with the newest su binaries file yourself..

Is your phone GT-S5830T? Telstra locked. If so, you have to use CF-root 3.7 to root your phone. It looks like your phone is not rooted.

Rooted my phone but getting error message
I get this when I open Superuser#
The Superuser binary (su) must be updated.
Please choose an installation method.
Recovery mode installation is recommended for HTC devices.
If I hit install or recovery install I get an error message.
If I try installing titanium backup it says root access failed.
I am using a Telus Samsung S4 with the all the latest updates on it.
If my phone cannot be rooted can I undo the process that I have already done. I am a novice. This is my first attempt at rooting

I am trying to figure out whether my Samsung Note N7000 is rooted or not.
I thought I have rooted it as there is a superuser app on the phone. But when I run a root checker app it tells me my phone is not rooted, I tried running rooted apps but not able to so I guess the phone is not rooted.
So I tried rooting my phone again using Superoneclick 2.3.1.0 but the program tells me my phone has ALREADY BEEN ROOTED and whether I want to proceed or not. I select to proceed but Superoneclick hangs at "Shell rooting device... - Step #7" "WaitForDevice"
Both the USB debugging and unknown sources boxes are ticked, SD card unmounted.
Can anyone help ?

I'm also not sure if your phone rooted or not..

How do check Superuser is enable ? btw, as I am new to this forum I posted this question on the wrong chat page. I have re-posted the question on the "Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" page.. Do you mind answer me there instead.. thanks

Reboot into your boot loader, it should tell you there whether it's unlocked or not.

Thanks for the suggestion, although my phone is not locked. I live in HK and bought it without contract...

search for SuperSU 1.10 chainfire
download the files and flash it using stock recovery.
or download phil safe kernel which include superuser

Has anyone else having this problem, when I open RE and change from R/W to R/O The phone reboots why I don't know I don't have busy box installed and on stock .350
Any ideas would be helpful

Yes my friend, I have the same problem. I tried to pass one. apk file and made me reboot several fores.Theorisa problem is that when the program apegkatistisa.

i have same issue, so cause of error rooting? but i use goroh_kun's method, i stil have superuser and Titanium work fine

Install supersu from playstore and uninstall superuser.

Try another root explorer like root file manager app from store.
If you insist the fixing problem on the app which you are using,

i had the same issue, i posted a new thread asking about this but all i got was some funny solutions like reboot your phone, blink with your left eye ... etc.
so here is what i did to fix it
1- restore (the normal restore from backup & reset option on the settings) the whole device again after backing up all my data and removing the external SD card.
2- with the root still exists i rerooted using this method (Root MANY ANDROID!)
3- i installed all my apps and settings again manually to assure that there is no conflicts with the previous backup.
4- everything went well now

[Q] Cant gain root access!

Hi there!
I tried to root my phone, i done everything right, odin says PASS, but after reboot i can't gain root access...i mean i tried verify root access with a root checker app, and its says my phone is not rooted...but also the SuperSU installed, and the CF Auto Root installed too.
What could be the problem?

Its CWM but im not installed it. Cf Auto root did.

Are u rooting with your sim card in? Try it without your sim card in the phone.

What's the last 3 digits of your baseband? What
Android version are you on? And model #

Open SuperSu go to settings and check out if Automatic Response is "Deny" if it is change it either to "prompt" or "allow" according to ur choice

I've done EVERYTHING AT THIS GUIDE, STEP BY STEP, and still no root...what the hell is going on? Why the f**k i cant root my phone?
