Try another root explorer like root file manager app from store.
If you insist the fixing problem on the app which you are using,

i had the same issue, i posted a new thread asking about this but all i got was some funny solutions like reboot your phone, blink with your left eye ... etc.
so here is what i did to fix it
1- restore (the normal restore from backup & reset option on the settings) the whole device again after backing up all my data and removing the external SD card.
2- with the root still exists i rerooted using this method (Root MANY ANDROID!)
3- i installed all my apps and settings again manually to assure that there is no conflicts with the previous backup.
4- everything went well now

when stuck, open Windows task manager and kill ADB blah process, the bigger size one perhaps...
you can see more than one ADB processes there...
I don't know why but it works for me...
I had this problem and did a phone repair through the PC companion software. It's a pain to have it back to stock but since you've found no other way you could try this.
i had this problem yesterday noon... i solve it with factory reset ... after this i did the root process again with no problem.

LBE Privacy Guard -> boot loop -- help?

Hi,
i just installed LBE privacy guard (on stock 434 FW rooted, unlocked BL). Unfortunately that app decided to go haywire on my phone, sending it into a boot loop.
Stupid enough i didn't make a backup before installing that thing (why would anyone?).
Is there any way to get this thing off the device without razing it completely? I can access TWRP and flash/fastboot.
Use flashtool to reflash a stock 434 ftf. Just don't wipe /data and you shouldn't lose any of your settings/apps. You will have to root again though.

I tried that, reflashing the FTF, however the app was still there and it was still autostarting. But in TWRP i found the advanced>file manager and removed the .apk (good that i had TWRP flashed).

Oh well. Glad you got it sorted.
Just FYI, everywhere I've seen LBE Privacy Guard mentioned there are people complaining that it causes reboot loops on Jelly Bean roms just like you experienced, so I'd give it a miss in future.

Here on XDA there is a translated LBE Security Master. It has some useless stuff but it has still that privacy control.
Sent from my Xperia Z using XDA premium.
I had the same problem. delete the apk in the internal memory. look to where you find them. then it boots normally again.
My problem was solved.

[Q] system ui problem

I have looked everywhere for this, but cannot find it. I am not sure how, but the systemui.apk is no longer on my phone, and so all features that it controls are not working. Does anyone have the apk for the Note 1 N7000 jelly bean update that I can download? I am going crazy without my notification bar.
My kernel is 3.0.31-906407
[email protected] #3
Build number: JZO54K.N7000JPLSB.
I have done a factory reset, and tryed to replace it with apk's I have found. I looked at rooting the phone, but I need to ensure I have it till the 28th, when if I cannot fix it my husband will root it. Please let me know if you can help.
Thank you

How do you know systemuiapk is missing? I would expect that it would show a boat load of errors on boot up and not run. What are the symptoms?

It is not listed in the "All Apps" section of the apps manager.
Symptoms: When my phone rings the notification to tell me who is calling does not pop up. I have to go into the phone app to even see who is calling, much less answer the call.
My notification bar is gone.
When I get a text message my phone will vibrate, but not chime.
My wall paper is gone.
I have found threads about rooted phones where people have removed the systemui that this are the same symptoms they have. The problem is that they had the original rooted program they used, so can reinstall that. I cannot do that, as my phone is not rooted. That is why I think my systemui is gone.
Install root explorer and check in /system/app folder for the apk, or in /preload/symlink/system/app. If it's there in preload, you will need to create a symlink for that in system/app.

You won't be able to install it as you're not rooted and it requires administrator privileges. But it's there anyway so I don't think that's the issue.
When did it stop working and was there any app you installed beforehand?

Thats really strange... Try rebooting into recovery (Vol up, home and power held down until you see samsung logo) then choose wipe cache and reboot. I doubt that will fix it though.
Only other options I can see are to root device by installing phillz kernel, wipe cache and dalvik from recovery, or root device, reinstall the app and make sure permissions are correct, or wipe device and start from scratch.

You said you tried to replace it ? How? Do you have an odex or deoxed rom? Anyways you will need root access to resolve this issue if you dont want to go about reinstalling the rom again.

Stop playing with essential parts of your system if you have absolutely no idea of what you are doing.
To get back to a reliable configuration:
download a stock rom and install it following the instructions in Dr. Ketan's thread here.
After that: start to read and learn. High probability this will protect the life of your device.

As far as I know there is no way to install a recovery without unlocking the Bootloader and you will need CWM or TWRP to install this fix.

How did you install TWRP if your phone is not unlocked?
If you have a working recovery it would not hurt to install the fix, as it seems to be the only installation method
Of course I can not garuantee for anything.
Because you do not need to unlock to install recovery....
Just flash the zip in either cmw or twrp recovery
Or just extract the build.prop from the zip and push it manually.
But to be honest, why does barclays need a build.prop tweak to work. I wouldn't trust my bank in this case

I know is slightly OT, but how would I do that? I thought you would have to flash some custom kernel to get a working recovery. The dual recovery for locked BL is still work in progress isn't it?
Thanks in advance!
It works fine for 40 seconds then reboots. That's more than enough to flash a small zip like that. It just is not write long enough for a backup or restore.
Also you do not flash a partition for recovery as Sony devices do not have a recovery partition. Recovery on Sony devices hijacks the chargemon file to boot up into it.
I am not 100% sure about all the technicalities so don't shoot me if I am wrong on that, but the recovery for locked bootloaders will work for small flashes.

Only way with a locked Bootloader is described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455959
But it is still in development and I would not advise it if you're not 100% sure what you're doing.
You could also unlock your phone and flash the Advanced Stock, Doom or any other kernel containing a recovery, but you will loose your Sony DRM Keys (Camera, X-Reality,...). They can be backed up (Backup TA partition) and restored, but the procedure is not that easy either.
Is this banking app really that important?

I understand that bit, but rooting does not affect the build.prop, so why would modding it let the app think your phone is not rooted? Please can you send me a link to the thread you posted a picture of so I can look inside the zip and see what it is trying to do
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk now Free
bumping this thread as it's related to my post since that's my Cwm zip in op, barclays checks the build prop for the debug keys and if it's successful says Device is rooted, barclays latest versions have much more advanced detection methods

Unable to install apps

I have been using an HTC One (KitKat 4.4.2) for a few days now and discovered that I am unable to install apps that aren't from the app store.
Example: I download an .apk from the internet to my SD card and when I try to install it, the install button doesn't work, only the cancel button works. I then reboot my phone and once it's back up I am able to install the .apk. I would need to reboot again if I wanted to install another .apk file.
I have search and found some solutions but none of them have worked.
How can I fix this issue.
