I've held off rooting my Bionic & putting an ICS Rom on it in favor of waiting for the OTA ICS update, but we're coming to the end of Q3 & I'm starting to wonder when that will happen. Anyone know if ICS is in soak testing for Bionic yet?

Not yet... soon.... the forums will blow up when it happens i assure you.
Not holding my breath for it happening anytime soon. Maybe before the end of the year?
Ironically you don't need to root to try ics. You install leak from stock recovery. I stay with 232 so I can Fxz back to 902 or 905. Really has minimal risk since can still get ota if on 905

Hi, I am on an ICS rom and it's too problematic. I want to get back to a GB rom. Any recommendations for a fully functional one?
I like Eclipse 2.2.
Been running it foe a while without issue.

The developer has tweeted that an update to Eclipse based on the .904 leak is in the works and ready for testing
for now I would run the .902 eclipse
Eclipse most def.

I've been using Liberty for a while. I tried some of the Gummy releases as they are more or less the same thing but ICS, but the stability wasn't there yet. I just restored my Safestrap backup of Liberty I took before installing Gummy, though.
I went from AOKP to stock .902 GB.... Now im updating to .904 and trying gummy cherry
I'm running the .904 build if eclipse and its really awesome so far. only problem is the volume buttons don't work but that is remedied by a using an volume control program like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.VolumeControl. but other than that its the best GB ROM there is in my opinion.
Edit... someone posted a fix for the volume buttons in page 6 of the eclipse forum. eclipserom.com/vforum/showthread.php?1612-ROM-Eclipse-Bionic-Build-01-4-26-12 i'm sure nitro will update the ROM soon with the fix.

I actually switched to stock and kept root, for me, this has worked out the best because I use the wifi tether regularly

Okay, so I'm pretty much a noob and I'm not as comfortable modding my bionic as I am my kindle fire. I thought that I couldn't flash an ICS ROM to my bionic in Safestrap unless I am running one of the leaks or wait for ota ICS on my "unsafe" partition. But I recently read a thread that made it sound like I could flash an ICS ROM to my "safe" partition as long as I'm running .905 on my unsafe partition. Is this true or will I brick my bionic if I attempt. Currently running stock GB .905 on unsafe partition and eclipse 3.0 on safe partition. Could someone that understands these things please let me know and explain? Is it a kernel thing? I'm itching for some ICS but would rather not touch my "unsafe partition if I don't have to. Thanks

You can easily flash the leaks (.232, etc.) that are semi-official ICS releases without being rooted or anything else. To do safestrapping, just look through the dev section or google it. It's pretty easy. I safestrapped a rom on my bionic yesterday, no issues...
Thanks for the reply. Still not quite ready to flash one of the leaks to my stock partition yet. Probably going to wait for the elusive ota update unless I get impatient. Thanks again.

I flashed my Droid Bionic with Android 4.0.4 and so far it is running well. No change in battery life and my phone is not rooted.

ICS
I am currently running Eclipse 2.2m system 902. Do I have to flash back to stock rom to get the 905. Also so do I have to do that before going to one of the ICS leaks.

FBZ to 902 then upgrade OTA to 905. Flash the ICS 232 leak and root.

I hope you knew there is a 3.0 version of Eclipse
Can I still use RSD Lite and the FXZ file for ICS if I'm currently on JB. I'm currently running the stock JB OTA and I'm having so many problems that I want to go back to ICS and just except the JB OTA again just to see if it fixes my issues. I don't think there is a FXZ file for JB yet?? If I'm wrong were can I get the file??

You will brick your phone if you do that, as far as I know

You will definitely brick your phone if you do that. As painful as it may sound, if you do an FDR you'll like your phone a lot more than you do now.
Just curious

4.3... not likely
well, since the droid 4 community is not that crowded, i highly doubt that.
But maybe a developer would do early xmas surprise. :fingers-crossed:
If you're hoping for a stock OTA update to 4.3, I highly doubt that is going to happen. This phone has been out for a year and a half now. Pretty sure we're done seeing updates. Some 4.3 ROMs are a possibility if hashcode is willing and able to whip up a 4.3 kexec kernel for us. I'm pretty sure dhacker has said he is no longer supporting the Moto omap devices anymore so hashcode is probably our only hope.
I'd like to see it if he has the time to whip one up..... Does anyone know of any differences?

Is the bionic set to receive an update anytime soon? With custom ROMs running smooth on 4.2.2 will we ever get ota update?
It's 2 years old, pretty sure there will be no more official os updates. But we have CM support so you can run 4.2 or 4.3
