Safestrap/tweaked bootstrap

Is anyone still using the tweaked bootstrap or is everyone pretty much on safestrap now? Just wondering cuz im still on the tweaked bootstrap ;p too lazy to sbf and start all over ;p
Sent from my droid 3 using Tapatalk
I think most people use Safestrap because Hash is amazing.

I use tweaked bootstrap for pretty much the same reasons. I don't want to lose my current backups.
Safestrap is your best bet. Flash without fear!
xt860, android 2.3.5, Monster rom

You don't have to sbf... just uninstall your current bootstrap, and install safestrap.. activate safestrap and install your choice of roms... if you disable safestrap, it just puts you back to where you were before you enabled it.. most people recommend using a base stock rom for your starting point but you don't have too..

Question, I am currently on Eclispsed V2.0, with a 5.7.893 update patch level, if I want to update to the latest 902 do I need to flash back to stock, then 901, 902?

You should be able to flash .902 in stock recovery with no problems since your on .893. But I should tell you I'm not sure that version of Eclipse is compatible with the .902 update. You might have to get back to stock because of that rom. Another idea. If your at a computer or you dont care whats on your Internal SDcard THIS THREAD will get you to .902 with no problems. It does wipe INTERNAL SDcard so if want that stuff save it somewhere on your PC or put it on your External Sdcard.
Thank you for your reply, I am copying everything from internal SD, then I will give that a try. Ideally I wanted to get to 902 so I can either use Escliped 2.1 or ICS AKOP or similar rom for my Bionic since that's looking really promising.
Mine fails to update still, it gets to one point and aborts

Hmmm. Strange. I'm not sure what the problem is
This thread will get you to .902 tho.
It will wipe INTERNAL SDcard so copy the stuff you want to keep to a PC or just put it on your External SDcard

Ok i finally found them all!!!!
Cheers people!!!!!
My .902 update keeps failing and I was wondering if you could help me. It fails and gives me the following message:
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/blur_picasa.apk". [there are a bunch of unimportant numbers and letters here])
E: Error in tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Any help is much appreciated.

Make sure boostrap is uninstalled before trying safestrap that may be causing the issue? Like a failsafe built into the app so you wont accidentally try flashing to different recoveries?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA
I do not have boot strap installed. When i go to the boot loader and choose recovery it takes me to stock recovery. So i dont have bootstrap installed

That's not how Bootstrap or Safestrap works. The bootloader will always invoke stock recovery no matter if safestrap or bootstrap are installed. The locked bootloader of the Bionic prevents Stock Recovery from being replaced.
Do other root apps work on your phone? Maybe try grabbing SetDNS, or the free version of Screenshot ER?
I finnally got it to install

Black screen when flashed in safe strap.

I had eclipse on my bionic. Then found blackhole and tried to flash in safestrap but only get black screen on reboot. I wiped data/system but still nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Did you wipe the cache partition and dalvik cache too? If not, you should do that. Also, sometimes you need to power it down after installing and power our back up before things work right.

Also, are you on an ics base? I think you need to be to use blackhole.

I did. But no luck. Oh and I'm 905

The Blackhole ROM was made under the assumption that you were running one of the ICS Leaks. Eclipse 3.0 was built off Gingerbread 5.9.905, and assumes the presence of the GB kernel. Blackhole, being an ICS based ROM, sees the old Gingerbread kernel sitting there and freaks out, leaving you with a black screen.
Your best bet is to FXZ to stock .905, then apply an ICS leak no newer than 6.7.232 if you want to use any of the newer ICS based builds.
